  1. I see a perfect opportunity for episode II of the Nanuq Rolex Torture Test. "Coming to you from the rim of the volcano!" (cough cough)
  2. Ahhh man, I was hoping to see that Tag in that photo. That comment had me laughing!
  3. I can appreciate what a pain working with multiple versions of the same watch would be. Is there any easy indicator to identify which version members own?
  4. I found the perfect buckle for that bike....
  5. If you are lucky enough to live long enough you will see many things you never expected. Having spent a good portion of 5-years service in places almost nobody can find on a map (even me at times) I can tell you the world is full of some very bad people. You only have to look at the 10-year transformation of Sarajevo (1984-1994) to see how things can go wrong very quickly. If it ever comes here, I've got room in the pickup for two more including gear and ammo. Wolverines BYOB !
  6. I wear a monkey suit to work every day so almost all my watches get rotation. If it fits under the cuff it gets to go spend a day in the 'salt mines'. That includes the DSSD and many PAMs. The only days I become more restrictive is when we are sitting down with large clients. I tend to go for smaller S/S 'classy' looking sport watches like the VC, FM Conq, TT Sub or a TT Breitling Crosswind. I think you can pull off TT watches very easily because the gold lends a bit of a formal look (if you like TT's that is). Now if it is a true formal event I wouldn't wear a sport watch at all. Only a nice classic watch on a beautiful strap works IMO. That would typically see my 18k RG FM, IWC Port or a Patek. Now on the weekend it's time to strap on a tuna can and shake my money-maker!
  7. Terrible tragedy. I'm sorry to hear of your personal connection. That sea has taken countless lives but it is always sad to hear of another loss. My thoughts go out to the families.
  8. You wanted QC, you got QC! I bet it's filled with navel hair........or worse!
  9. @Nanuq, the score is now 2-2. Admit defeat now (aka sell me your sharkhunter) and I'll take it easy on you. I don't know if there is room for two in my World Doxa Domination Plan. Just joking of course. If we keep going we are going to need a bigger boat.
  10. @ Toadtorrent What do you think viewing a toad humping avatar photo over 2600 times does to a human brain? I shutter to think! @ vmena Congrats! I'll be there in another 3-years!
  11. One of the better kept secrets in the rep trade.
  12. Nanuq has gone dark on us. I bet he is in town selling his bag of gold dust for the event!
  13. Excellent. I say we keep them all in the family. Good to see you by the way!
  14. The Zigmeister, you lost me on the stake it part but it sounds like good news. Nanuq, I still say they need some R&R in sunny California. That should fix them right up.
  15. Somebody put a shot over the bow with a 2k early bid. Trying to send a signal I bet. I don't see any bargins happening today.
  16. In like Flynn! The big question is where do you think the BL will end? I sense a few sharks in dem' waters!
  17. My professional advice is to send them to me for long-term testing.
  18. I think the Red 1950 is a great idea! That and the tip of the chrono hand would make a great statement for a 'prototype' stealth watch. Plus, you have the hands steady enough to do it. If you can lume a 196 you can do anything! Has me thinking about my 212. If it wasn't for the synthetic sapphire (aka mineral crystal) I would wear the thing all the time.
  19. Nice shot! I've been impressed with mine. A couple bugs but overall I really like it. Can't wait to use it Japan. That has always been a pain in the past.
  20. AR is used to reduce glare and reflection on all types of lenses. Many, if not most gens have some type of AR coating although the type can be different. Some like Omega and Breitling have a coating that gives off a deep color at certain angles and is clear at other angles. Sapphire has reflective qualities just like other materials. Hope this helps.
  21. The normal wear is easier to notice on heavy tinted AR like gen Breitling. It still works well after many years but if you look at some angles you can see the wear marks. I suspect that the ultra non-reflective AR CT does would be difficult to see as it wears, since you really can't see much of anything, ESPECIALLY the crystal!
  22. Bob is a jerk, as The Zigmeister stated. His store is very close to where I live. While I have purchased from their store I almost always find something on my shopping list that is BS or twice what I was quoted. Hey, but they gave me a free caseback ball for ripping me off. Too bad it popped on the first use.
