  1. when I asked her what she wanted she said gucci or something. Her watch at the moment is a gold gucci bracelet type thing and various quartz fashion watches. I was thinking maybe a casablanca or a long island FM. Maybe an explorer I, but i think an auto movement might stop her from wearing it. I'm not sure if she would like the J12, she asked for a metal band
  2. My mum has noticed my reps recently, and she has asked me to get her one. It has to be nice quality, and black dial she said. Any suggestions will be appreciated! thanks for reading guys...
  3. nothing on topic to contribute here, but the fact that B ) gets changed into had me in stitches
  4. Yes yes yes yes love the polaris! Don't think it'll have an alarm though i'd even go for an homage watch to the vintage.
  5. just wind the watch until you can't. if your watch is a goodun it should be every 41-48 hours or so I try to wind when my watch has no power reserve, but i will wind it to full charge if i am sitting on the tube bored or something
  6. he's a trusted dealer over at RWI. His english is fantastic too. Thanks for the comments guys, it looks like I can hold of on ordering a custom BTW how easy are these to waterproof?
  7. i am buying it from marvellousreplica here are the other pics he sent showing the strap
  8. My dealer could not get it on the rubber strap. Did anyone buy it on the leather strap the factories made? What is it like? should I order a new one now or is it OK? here is one of my QC pics btw
  9. the consensus seems to be dress your wrist like saddam hussein. I've gotten the most compliments on my bond Seamaster (not 007 branded). And this quartz D&G 'medicine man' watch (which I bought before I knew this place);
  10. Student loan payday is fast approaching, and it is time for me to decide what rep I want to buy! I have it narrowed down to these few; DSN Tornek Rayville Panerai 005 (probably also DSN) IWC BP A Sinn watch I can't decide which one I want. If I save $100 or so not getting a DSN, I can get a super lume. I'm not sure what to do! I currently have a Skyland on rubber, and a gold Oris dress watch (very small, handwind). At the moment i'm leaning towards the 005 as I love the big simple look. But the history of the fifty fathoms really does it for me too. IWC will probably be too big for my 7 and a half inch wrist, but it too is a timeless classic. What do you guys think?
  11. Get a breitling emergency, it s a great watch that will never be repped
  12. I took my Skyland Avenger off the Pro II bracelet, to put it on a zulu. When i was threading the long side through the lugs, the bar just broke and went flying! This has happened before with my seamaster on a nato while I was wearing it, and the whole watch head went flying into the floor. Does anyone know where I can get some superior quality spring bars? thanks for reading guys, -us
  13. I am in the same boat! I recently got given my fathers relatively old (1992, so almost as old as me) Oris handwind, and it's so beautiful. Completely turned me off my skyland and other big big watches. Now I am looking for a DSN fifty fathoms. Vintage is the way to go! good design is timeless.
  14. Yeah I do love those nato straps. And if I do decide I want to buy a tropic strap, i know where to go but the other thing to worry about with the tr is the moisture indicator :s it's a minefield
  15. I really like the way it looks. If domi tells me he can vintageize one for me i'll be all good. (the NOS look doesn't quite do it for me as much as the amazing vintage look) As far as closeness to gen goes, I am probably going to get the tornek rayville model. So if someone recognizes it, they will know of it's rarity it would be obvious I would not have a gen. In this case it's really a conversation starter, with a watch aware person, so I am happy to wear it. In the case of the general public, they will just see a regular (if a bit small) watch. I will see a design I love, so little details are not important to me. For example, with my rep skyland, I do not focus on the wrong shape of the 1 numeral on the bezel, or the off center lume dot at 10 and 11. Of course I am saying these things now, before i have the watch and can see the thickness of the bezel! then again, it's not like i'm gonna run into kye_lin and see a gen to compare it to That being said maybe the bezel thickness and lug depth will mean i'll probably end up looking for a gen when I can afford it... oh ya and for the record, this is so true
  16. where do you find these beauties? so damn jealous. Does DSNs one even come close? I suppose I wouldn't mind wearing a DSN rep. If I ever got called on it, I would be happy to admit it's a replica of a really old, rare watch. Whereas if I had a rolex rep, I would be embarrassed
  17. Wow I love your Fifty Fathoms. Is it a DSN or gen? Want to donate it? seriously though, I Want one. Probably gonna pick one up next Im not sure if I want the NOS look or the vintage look.
  18. this happened because of a production flaw in the dials, so i can imagine the gen effect is very difficult to imitate.
  19. ah nice one. I'm sure I have some lying around somewhere.
  20. hehe no rodico unfortunately. Guess i'll just use a bit of masking tape
