  3. Perception - something to think about. Washington, DC Metro Station on a cold January morning in 2007. The man with a violin played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time approx. 2 thousand people went through the station, most of them on their way to work. After 3 minutes a middle aged man noticed there was a musician playing. He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds and then hurried to meet his schedule. 4 minutes later: the violinist received his first dollar: a woman threw the money in the hat and, without stopping, continued to walk. 6 minutes: A young man leaned against the wall to listen to him, then looked at his watch and started to walk again. 10 minutes: A 3-year old boy stopped but his mother tugged him along hurriedly. The kid stopped to look at the violinist again, but the mother pushed hard and the child continued to walk, turning his head all the time. This action was repeated by several other children. Every parent, without exception, forced their children to move on quickly. 45 minutes: The musician played continuously. Only 6 people stopped and listened for a short while. About 20 gave money but continued to walk at their normal pace. The man collected a total of $32. 1 hour: He finished playing and silence took over. No one noticed. No one applauded, nor was there any recognition. No one knew this, but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the greatest musicians in the world. He played one of the most intricate pieces ever written, with a violin worth $3.5 million dollars. Two days before Joshua Bell sold out a theater in Boston where the seats averaged $100. This is a true story. Joshua Bell playing incognito in the metro station was organized by the Washington Post as part of a social experiment about perception, taste and people's priorities. The questions raised: in a common place environment at an inappropriate hour, do we perceive beauty? Do we stop to appreciate it? Do we recognize talent in an unexpected context? One possible conclusion reached from this experiment could be this: If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world, playing some of the finest music ever written, with one of the most beautiful instruments ever made.... How many other things are we missing? Col.
  4. It is ceramic. Don't know if it may be white ceramic painted or PVD coated tho. Anyone? Col.

  9. I love Por-15! Wonderfull stuff, the only way knowen to man to enshure rust never returns. The clear coats are amazing, proof to allmost anything and Glisten will go over polished ally and not reduce the shine as well as Pelucid being the best clear coat for wood ever made. Totaly indestructable!. Whitecoat is the best underbody coating in the world. Now to reps. Por is not a paint, it is a ceramin (a type of ceramic) coating so is damn tough stuff (as you know if you have ever had to sand it). The trouble here is that por rarely goes on perfectualy smooth. It is not recomended where a perfect surface is needed. Also, the one and only thing that attackes Por is UV/sun light. Left exposed it will eventualy powder on the surface. Worth experimneting with an old case tho IMO. For those of you who have NFI WTF we are on about, have a looky HERE Col.

It's sorta like volenteering for a second tour of 'Nam. F1 is just sooooo dangerous. The man can drive tho, that's for shure and it's in his blood. There is no way he would have said no! Col.
  13. You want some nice straps at stupidly cheap prices? Take a looky at Getat , the newest dealer in the Homage section at RWG1.1. Some lovley straps for very little money. Considering these things also come on their homage Pams the price is worth it for the strap alone. They realy are that good! Col.

  17. All good advice above especialy about not changeing dates between 10 and 2, very important that. Also, hand wind a 7750 as little as possible or not at all. If it is stopped, start it with a few gentle shakes and wear it, it'll wind. The above actualy applies to the gen 7750 as much as the rep BTW. Col.
  18. Shouldn't have too much trouble unless you ordered multipul items of the same thing or a heck of a lot of stuff at once. I happen to know Brissie customs are down on staff ATM. Blame the swine flu. Col.

  24. He just don't get it does he? Mate: IF YOU ARE SELLING A WATCH SOURCED SPECIFICLY TO SELL YOU ARE DEALING. You do simply not know enough (from the sounds of it) for the admin here to take you on board as a trusted dealer. Now, not for me to say but at a guess you have no hope of being allowed to sell your wares here no matter how good you think they are. I'd quit while you're ahead if I were you. Regards, Col.
