  1. Mercedes Silver Arrow silver thank you. I'm sure I could Google it, but I can not; Once, in Carlsbad, California, I saw a P-51 Mustang D model done up in Chennault livery; olive drab replete with Flying Tiger shark mouth paint scheme and 'Disney' Flying Tiger insignia a` la P-40 Warhawk. I wanted to cry then too. The airplane was owned by an Arab. A distant realtive to the House of Saud. The airplane crashed and was destroyed on take off, soon after it was released into service. Hopefully at the hands of the owner at the controls. God is good.
  2. A concurrence. The potential for bad Karama? It's It's Nostradamical in scope. Someone is going to pay. Big.
  3. Man, now you're just plain scaring me.
  4. I love it! The connotations, your history with regard and the watch. As first generation 'Merican from Scotland, I'm also first generation 'surfer', but I've handed down the torch. This year's planned Christmas Card: As far as 'quartz' goes; "Quartz, when you absolutely, positively, have to be there on time. Not within +/- 3 minutes on time." Not sure who said that, but I bet it were a pilot. Probably me.
  5. The only thing I would like to echo, and it is aside watches altogether, is the character of the experience here to genuine sites. There really is no comparison. When I was fortunate enough to finally get my grail genuine, I took a picture of it destined for the pages of a genuine site. I registered (something in the back of my mind I always looked forward to, it would mean "I've arrived") and kicked around for a bit, giving it a good chance because it really is hard to get the ebb and flow of a new forum. After a week or two, I gave up. I never posted the pic. In short order I posted it here in a WC thread and got many awesome and enthusiastic comments and PM's from people whom I've known virtually for the better part of a decade. Comments that were well aside the intrinsic value of a watch. They were pats on the back and earnest well wishes. There was genuine excitement. On the genuine site I was afraid, in my being a noob, I would garner a hearty; "So? I have one of those." and the thread would wither. There are many, many successful people here who came with impressive genuine collections. They are contrite out of respect to those not as fortunate. They revel when, through hard work and longing, those members who only once dreamed and lived vicariously through 'replica' realized a goal, if only in their cherished replicas. I feel those on genuine sites largely miss the camaradarie of the 'quest', they have long arrived, are bored and are therefore boring. RWG is, at last, a 'watch' forum.
  6. Ah, my bad. A couple of threads discussing the Moon SPdMP, and one team member of a collector chimed in, but no news or mention of the m7750 there. Frustrating.
  7. Thanks for the infos on the serial nos. and paperwork Bob. I wonder how many 'genuine' 'mutt' watches are out there off the 'Bay with "Boxes and Papers" Uh oh.
  8. Nice. You gotta ask yourself; "The case, crystal and bracelet. What the hell?"
  9. I can't make up my mind. On the one hand I like the look of it, then again, I want to cry. "In Philadelphia, it's worth fifty bucks." Bo Diddley
  10. Modified 7750 is available in the POC. Looking for it in the Speedmasters now. LIKE THE MOON WATCH DAMNIT!!
  11. 1.1? TROLL! J/K X, Ok, I'll check it out! If you supplied a link you may get more than 1X visitor @ Tt, You are the 'Guide Master' ! Great post..........
  12. 'vaguely snarky' ? Crap, I was trying to be stark raving snarky. Whoa. Shunds lives in Hackensack? Hackensack is the only town in New Jersey people from Elizabeth can rank on. Nice onion Shunds.
  13. It won't. There will be a breakdown of systems in the LM and it had to be left behind. Like the last time.
  14. @ Helina, dear one, this time very slowly; This is a terrible Moon Watch, because; Say, here's an idea, novel, and I just thought it up,; Seeing that the most correct and successful sport replica ever has been the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean in all it's versions, it's almost unfathomable that the factories refuse to retool for the Speedmaster Pro Moon Watch. It's not even 'new ground' they were 87% there in 2004. Here's a western economic philosophy that is catching on slowly but surely in Asia; Demand regulates Supply yields Profit promulgates Market yields Competition realises Return raises Capital. Everyone drives Porsche.
  15. True (however I thought the see through casebacks dated earlier, I will concede I am wrong) , but it was a pre-requisite by NASA to supply a watch with a domed Hesalite crystal; the Speedmaster Pro, hence making it the Moon Watch. Sapphire/Mineral crystal shatters, actually 'splinters' when broken (see through casebacks would double the possibility), which in the zero gravity environment(s) would propose a hazzard to the O2 circulation [sic] and other system(s). Hesalite, obstensibly 'Plexi' has a better tensile strength and would merely crack on impact. "Moon Watch" reps with sapphire crystals of any shape (especially 'flat') and see through casebacks are too flawed. They had the Moon Watch rep purdy nailed down in and about '04-05, domed plexi crystals, 'meh' solid casebacks (but gen casebacks would fit, easily available), good touted Lemania/Venus/Seagull movement, most dealers would 'freeze' the slaved hour totalisor @ 6 but then they dropped the ball in a hard way. The new modified 7750 they use in the new PO chronos to bring better subdial spacing, domed plexi, and casebacks given the same attention to detail as the PO's would render a fantastic Moon Watch replica. But they just won't do it. Unfortunately, the best visually aesthetic replica of the Moon Watch available is 'quartz'. It too will take a genuine caseback, but the one that comes with it is the OK 'meh' one. Looks very nice in photographs, but, alas................less than $100 tho' <edit> A good resource page to all the Space Omegas
  16. Why be sorry? A stronger bond than a Railmaster Hommage. Surely.
  17. Oh. Ok. It makes more sense then. But not much. That's my thinking too (yYou may want to reconsider your thinkng Ken ) This case may never pass a pressure test again. There are enough guys that follow eBay here, we'll see if this shows up again in the near future. The case cleaned up serial '5766950' I never gave it much thought before, but are there ties between the 'case' and the OEM movement issued with it, by serial number? Like automobiles? In the original paperwork? No? Then any 'gen' you buy could have a retrofitted movement installed? From an entirely different model altogether? Yes? Who would think to check before sale of 'gen'?
  18. Looks like it were caught in fire? Who would bid this high for this? Someone is shilling the auction.
  19. Surprised at your choice Ken. Don't know why. Just am. Do you have the modified A7750, or the older version with incorrect subdial spacing? I'm kind of looking ahead for when they use the modified version 7750 in the Speedy's and want to know what the long(er) term reliability is of the movement........TIA @Raymond Congratulations on a beautiful watch. We are all having fun here, and replica is great, but when I hear of members going on to 'genuine' collection, it always makes me feel good for them. Wear it well..........
  20. Purdy. When people say; "If you are wearing a Rolex, gen or rep, people will just assume it's a rep" doesn't take into account the dress watches. No one would question this. Unless you were surfing with it on. Cool piece! Congrats................
  21. I've taken you out of context, but I couldn't have said it better myself. Love your watch, the gen caseback is a great touch. I've said it everywhere here lately and I'm going to say it until someone takes notice; there is a modified 7750 tri-compax movement secs @ 9 and tighter subdial spacing past the 'proto-type' phase that these Speedy's could use. For heaven's sake screw all the various Rolex vintages that are so rare only the Sultan of Brunie and JoJo35 will ever own and get going on a correct MOON WATCH! 1665? Get real.
  22. Thanks J, you get me, you really do..............don't feel bad jm, you came in second.
  23. Thanks for the heads up 'Avitt', but I apparantly don't rate the privilege to access the 'Trades' section. Jeez, they awta be flattered I remembered my password. The last time I logged on W. was still President and we were all talking about "What if?" for the upcoming election. Cheers! @ 'thogaa' 'Wealth' can buy you a car like that. But to take it out in public, park it on the street and walk away from it? That takes 'rich'. Jeez who drives that? Paris? @ 'upland' Who drives that? Cobra?
  24. Wow! That is sharp! That's probably the sportiest Rolex dress watch I've ever seen. I can't believe the run was so short. Think of the dial/bracelet combos they might have come up with..................... Do you own this one JJ?!
  25. ...........and don't make me use Google either. I have no idea what a 'luddite' is. Sometimes this whole 'internet' thing makes me want to smash my computer against a wall. Technology. Pfffffffffffffffft!
