  1. It's a beautiful movement so I love the display back concept. However, having no love for Panerai, I would have just loved to own that Illinois pocket watch. There was a thread here recently regarding RGM building a latterday mechanical movement within the US (I'm lazy or I'd link it. Maybe a gung-ho noob will ). That started a putsch that it (the RGM) merely looked like an ETA knock off. However, these old American pocket watch movements really are the impetus for all that came later from European designers with regard to wrist watch movements that needed to be robust, especially the Panerai. Towit and off topic but apropos; Hans Wilsdorf, although Bavarian, got his start (in business) in Great Britain with Wilsdorf Davis. If it weren't for the first world war, and the ensuing tax picture that drove Wilsdorf to Switzerland, Rolex would have been a British firm and with it all the accolades. Pity. Anywhoo, I think your project is a poetic justice to the grass roots of the Panerai line. It's 'full circle'. Kind of like the North American P-51 Mustang. In it's ultimate version; the P-51D, was powered by the US built Packard V-1650, a two-stage two-speed supercharged version of the legendary Rolls-Royce Merlin engine. A British powerplant. Good luck.
  2. Yeah that's fresh. Looking sharp. I'm thinking PO here too.
  3. Agreed. Chris? You may want to send a resume` to GM Headquarters, Detroit.
  4. Well, no. Now that the media is picking it apart it seems Brazil carried with it the highest murder rate last year of the cities considered (part of the criteria in the choosing by the OIC) @ 33 per 100,000 capita. I can only imagine, and would hate to know, what percentage were children. And, aside some pertinent infrastructure and transportation issues, Rio got the nod anyway hinging on their economic situation. Cool. It's 'fair'. Besides. Hot Latino chicks. Gone wild. On network TV. I bet I watch more coverage this time around. The Associated Press speculated that the POTUS had only briefly loitered in Copenhagen and didn't even stick around for the voting. A 'business-like' showing. Considered by some as a 'slight' of disrespect to the IOC. Not sure if that had too much to do with the ultimate decision but perhaps why Chi'Town fell off in the first round? I think President Obama's advisors banked too much on his collateral Euro appeal. "Hey, Chicago is in the bag for 2016. Just show up and it will look like you pulled a rabbit out of a hat. They love you man. Love you like Britney Spears."
  5. True Doc, but politically speaking, it's just very poor timing for the President's mission at hand. Couldn't have been worse actually.
  6. Maybe it had something to do with a recent video of Derrion Albert, an innocent honors student, being beaten to death with a board on the South Side? Perhaps the President should be home cleaning up before he invites company over. I have more to say on the subject, but it's not really my place outside of personal frustration. This young man has taken it to task. I'll just leave it to him. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdnsbM1CWEU&feature=related
  7. Nice! You awta think about using some software to make a 12 mos. picture calendar Bob as gifts. The first two trips I made to Kenai I took photos, subsequently I demured. I'm sure even these you've posted here are only 1/100th the visual experience. People would say, "How was your trip? Do you have photos?", "No, if you want good pics of Alaska just go to the mall and buy the calendar". Step in any poodles? How about 31 miles offshore on a 17ft outboard, or at 6,000 feet above the Ohio River corridor solid IFR solo with a brand new instrument rating? I think you'd agree Bob; aside the 'geography' the point where you look around and realize; "Holy [censored]. If you don't keep your head tight and pull it all together; correlate what you've learned thus far, you're just not going to make it out. Alive. Mommy and Daddy can not help you now." That's 'living'. Thanks for sharing. Love these posts.
  8. Helina works for ETMZ. But yes, she is a noob. Technically.
  9. LMAOROTFL! RWG doesn't have enough bandwidth my friend. I'm tempted to advise; Live Strong! but Lance Armstrong bailed on marriage. He didn't have what it takes. He was weak. That should give you a little insight. <edit> after some thought; Don't lose 'yourself' for the sake of 'her'. You will only lose the two of you in the end.
  10. Now that's what I term; a good looking couple of people. The spider less so. Congrats.
  11. Well, with the advent of Imperialistic Capitalism, there followeth Damage Control. And lost; Asian resolve. The way things are going, if this were 1968? We may just have won that war. Oh well. It's time to hold a new standard; To hell with the 'best version' Rolex divers' and customer service record. Do not trust, nor patronize, any replica dealer that offers a Speedy Moon with flat sapphire crystal, bi-compax auto or quartz mvmnt, see thru caseback. That is, what is; not on.
  12. Could we please not drag the 'Gummint' into this? TIA
  13. 'Lanikai' would run it (who else?) and I would hold the money. I am saving for an Acura and want to ship it to Belgrade. I only need 2,000usd more and I'm in like Dragoslav (local hero).
  14. If you have done this from the same ISP as your previous account, alert the Admin. there of the situation. They will cross reference the two and will ban you. There is a 'zero tolerance' for sock I.D.'s and dopplegangers @ RG. Good rule, less fun......................
  15. Oh, I dunno 'Lanikai', I think they get a lot in return. Their performance and attention is directly proportional to the contributions made by the membership. Contributions that cannot be strapped to a wrist or 'banked'. The last guy? He used to hold the raffles. And wanted a tribute watch. And made a holiday banner. And a floating 'Winnie The Pooh' skin for the Holidays. And saved us thousands on replicas. A few members sent him watches too out of gratitude. Then he was a 'liar' and a 'scammer' and a 'bastard'. Or not. Might as well have been. Lesson learned? God says; "Give, give, give to your fellow man. But always wear a cup my son."
  16. There is so much [censored] in this thread I feel like I am at the rodeo. I feel more for the noobs who may be reading this than I would if TTK came back with his own 're-tooled' customer service thread. Honestly. It reminds me of that Brad Paisley song; I work down at The Pizza Pit And I drive an old Hyundai I still live with my mom and dad I'm five foot three and overweight I'm a sci: fi fanatic, mild asthmatic Never been to second base But there's a whole 'nother me That you need to see Go check out Myspace. 'Cause online I'm out in Hollywood I'm six foot five and I look damn good I drive a Maserati, I'm a black belt in karate And I love a good glass of wine It turns girls on that I'm mysterious I tell 'em I don't want nothing serious 'Cause even on a slow day I can have a three-way chat With two women at one time. I'm so much cooler online I'm so much cooler online. I get home I kiss my mom And she fixes me a snack I head down to my basement bedroom And fire up my Mac In real life the only time I've ever even been to L.A. Was when I got the chance with the marching band To play tuba in the Rose Parade. But online I live in Malibu I pose for Calvin Klein I've been in GQ I'm single and I'm rich And I got a set of six-pack abs that would blow your mind It turns girls on that I'm mysterious I tell 'em I don't want nothing serious 'Cause even on a slow day I can have a three-way chat With two women at one time. I'm so much cooler online Yeah, I'm cooler online. When you've got my kind of stats It's hard to get a date Let alone a real girlfriend But I grow another foot and lose a bunch of weight Every time I log in. Online I'm out in Hollywood I'm six foot five and I look damn good Even on a slow day I can have a three-way chat With two women at one time. I'm so much cooler online Yeah, I'm cooler online I'm so much cooler online Yeah, I'm cooler online.
  17. Good times! Put them in a bottle. On your 25 you can do shots!
  18. They don't call it; The Range of Light fer nuttin'. Two words; Ansel Adams. Great pic. Thanks.
  19. I could ask you to elaborate cs, but I'm having too much fun running scenerios in my head. Wills once threatened to have me banned fom the old RWG. The V.I.P forum in fact. For trolling Clive and having the nerve to term it: 'thread crapping'. As if. Gotta love 'Willith'. Then again, I voted for #43. Twice. Well, there is a solution here; organize a raffle wherein the membership donates to a pool and the ticket holders are the Admin team. Whether they like it or not. I mean, the gesture of having them participate in the public raffles is out of appreciation right? I certainly wouldn't expect a two week noob who has yet to aquire a piece and experience the community and the Admin.'s efforts to be predisposed to participate, but from the seasoned members? Yeah, I want to hang a 111h on By-Tor.
  20. I trust all the Admin. Except 'Willith'. No, seriously. I do trust all the Admin. team. Except 'jonthebhoy'. No, seriously. What ever happened to 'Willith'? Anyway? If it weren't for noobs this discussion wouldn't even be moot. But. There are noobs. And as sure as there will be a sunshower and rainbow over Pali tomorrow, that's exactly where, and only where, the notion would blow up in their faces. I mean, look what happened in the Asim/WhichWatch thread. Imagine; a four post, two week lurking noob buys a ticket and 'dluddy' wins the watch . And [insert regular member here] posts, "Congrats D! It's justice! My fav moderator wins! YEAH!" The response would be a five page flame put out with a fire hose and a locked thread. So. You know how I lean on this issue. [censored] DO IT! I voted 'yes'.
  21. There are a million stories in the naked city. And just as many replica watches. Glad it all worked out. Live strong.
