  1. Took this Droid pix today for Monday's wristcheck...will need to take more with my camera...but thought I'd share it...gotta love the logo dial... * discontinued Silix PAM 000 complete (dial/hands, eta 6497-1 e-series movement, etc) * The Zigmeister Tritec Grade A tritec c3 superlume * Cheiftang double AR crystal (July 2010 run) * t48 crown * snembo cg finished by R-Squared * H3 cp fix (The Zigmeister) R- The Zigmeister pix of my 000 after grade A superlume...normal c3 on left, grade A on right... It started life looking like this...yikes...(pix from Silix)
  2. chief'd, not stirred...
  3. @Ubi -- awesome pix...thanks!... @krp -- agreed...all this info is great, but i need to see how this works by playing around...a lot of unfinished items on my bench, but i'll add this one to the list and let all know... awesome info guys...appreciate your insights...R

  5. I hear ya Noel...you can lean on us for support...btw - anything lonely in that collection that needs a new home?
  6. Famous last words: "i'm not a big fan of PAMs".... Ah grasshopper...many have spoken these words... I still think having less than 10 PAMs is willpower, right guys?! R-
  7. Have others transplanted 2824 eta movement into the soh?...a straight drop-in or are there other considerations? My blue soh is on 4mm mesh...it's wierd - my first thought was that it would make the watch look too "rich" and/or "formal"...but it doesn't...I love the look and wear it casually...its a nice statement watch... Customizing Breits, like a pvd coating, actually lends itself to legitimizing the rep...only aficionados would do that; albeit invalidating a gen warranty...either way, its unique... My Blackbird with blue X-lume is sharp and unique... Nice projects...
  8. Projects?...hmmm.... Just picked up another v1 ss CA...(Mike is cringing - my partner in the Avenger Lab)...so perhaps another fantasy Avenger franken or Skyland hybrid...the simplicity of the CA bezel with the skyland dial tones down the look...highlights the dial better... Psst...the v1 ss CA has a bezel that can be removed - with the right watchsmith and tools - giving you the ability to AR the crystal... Both my CA pieces are chief'd... Having my v1 black Arabic Navi chief's and a new 4.5 eta dw... Still very much pondering pvd'ing a black dial swiss fish - now this would be cool... Other than these Breit projects, ready to assemble my Tudor Chrono w/ gen dial...and still messing with misc PAM builds... Never a dull moment...
  9. Yes...I think the stem is pulling the dial away from the movement as its setup now with the 2824... So if I assume the same stem position, I would think if the 2836 is 0.46mm thicker from center to dial side, then the dial/rehaut would close the gap... Am I missing something here? Thanks...
  10. Hi...My name is R- I am a horologic... My story is similar to many here - I've learned to take full responsibility for my addiction... What to buy next?!...sorry - I can't be party to your demise... I have my own issues... R-
  11. this is really good stuff and info...thanks, guys... a potential swap out of the 2824-2 in my ti Seawolf for a 2836-2 would raise the rehaut toward the crystal and reduce the 0.46 gap i currently have...ever so small, i know its there... any recommendations on best source/price for a 2836-2 besides ofrei and cousinsuk?
  12. good point, kbh...and thanks for weighing in... but is the datewheel 0.46mm taller?... also wondering what members do when they have a watch with existing spacer and movement and just want to do the movement swap...i haven't read that people search or improvise a new spacer ring...somehow this must work and/or create problems...
  13. wow...Mike Wood has 17! MilSubs...that's crazey... imagine his dismay when he discovers #18 30 miles from home and he has to bid on ebay for it?!...
  14. agreed, K...i checked the eta website and Dr. R's site...but no dimension on the drawings... but as a Breitling guy, too, you recall that both the fish and ti seawolf had both movements as options...it may not sound like a lot, but 0.46mm is actually a lot... on my ti seawolf - the movement is 2824-2 and there is a .46mm gap between the rehaut and the case...you have to look closely, but it's there...but with the 2836-2 movement versions, no gap (as i can see from pix)... we all also know that there was a limited - long since discontinued - version of the steelfish with 2824-2...all the current "swiss" versions are 2836-2...and from i have researched and seen, there's only one swiss case... hmmmm #2...
  15. perhaps you can ask Reg to see if there is any stamping (numbers, symbols, etc) on the movement?...
  16. thanks, R... this is intriguing me...as a Breitling collector, i know that both the steelfish and the old skool ti Seawolf came with either 2824-2 or 2836-2 movements...haven't seen any visual difference in the steelfish swiss cases - but don't have the two models to visually compare them...but i know, for sure, that the ti Seawolf only had one case, yet two movements...but an offset crown would be noticeable to screw down - and like you said, would bend the stem... hmmmm...
  17. Hey Guys... been researching this question, but to no avail... 2824-2 is 4.6mm height 2836-2 is 5.06mm height what is the dial side to stem dimension difference?...is it the same and the difference in movement is made up on the rotor side?... what prompted this question is that the Breitling Swiss Steelfish had an early release with a 2824-2 movement...and then it came out with a 2836-2 movement...from all i see the cases are the same between these 2 models - and the rehauts seem to be the same height...if this is true, then is this ever so slight 0.46mm difference made up in the stem tube or is it simply made up on the rotor side of the movement?... my hunch is that the 0.46mm difference may be in the rotor side of the movement and the dial side to stem distance is the same... appreciate the information...
  18. Congrats, Gran... Looks like a lot of fun... Wife wouldn't go for the hair buns, huh?!...
  19. TX - was going to comment when i saw it on today's W>C (but got distracted by robertk's broad arrow)... This piece looks great...wear it well... what size is your wrist?...

    Sneak Peek

    you big tease...
  22. I have a nice (IMO) black standard Luminor Marina Panerai dial that has The Zigmeister tritec c1 lume on dial and hands...i currently have it mounted into the pvd case that i reworked...i do like the way it looks...but wondering if any of these dials were lumed with c1 from Panerai -- or were they all c3...and if so, what model(s)...i'm thinking no c1 from Panerai - as i think in my training program D mentioned this to me...
  23. meaty, beaty, big and bouncey... nice...congrats...R
