  1. not mine...my gen steelfish is a 2007 and does not wind when screwing in the crown... BTW - this dial is a replica of the xplus dial (2006/2007) which was the dial the 44mm version first launched with...after the first year, they slightly changed the dial...what's the difference?...the xplus dial has larger lume surrounds (less lume, more surround) and the date window is narrower - the later dial steelfish dials had thinner lume surrounds and had a date window slightly thicker and closer to the minute track...
  2. been buried with work and kids - but all is good...haven't had the time to stay up with everything RWG, but tonite i sit here wearing my new v2 Seawolf yellow dial and felt commentary was in order... sorry - no pix in this post...no need for pix - as others have posted pix of this new release...kudos to Mike - maxman for his epic thread on this piece!...like many, i was thrilled to see this piece hit the market...this version of the seawolf - especially with yellow dial - is signature breitling... so here's a quick review of the piece...once again, no pix - so please don't slam me - most that know the watch and/or me, know i'm pretty much a breiting fan - so bare with me... credentials: i own every color skyland rep (v2s) , every chrono avenger rep (v1s), and the classic ti seawolf (v1)...and this is only part of my breitling rep collection...and for those who care, i do own (3) breitling gens - a Colt chrono a73380, a blue Steelfish, a ti/gold 2002 black dial Aerospace (grail)... anyhowww - on to this pseudo-review...do i like it?...yes...is it epic?...no...is it good and does it portray the brand well?...yes, to some degree... first off - ive always loved the size of this watch...the case is well done - with the exception of the bezel...as others have mentioned, the engraving is good, but not great...of significance - the bezel 15, 30, 45 rider tab markers are shallow engraved compared to the rest of the bezel markers...it's enough noticeable to me - that it's bothersome...case-wise, someone commented on the release valve at 9 o'clock - but to me, it looks pretty good and is well-placed... i did have a problem with the bracelet...i thought it was an issue when i saw the QC pix, but I wasn't sure...one end link was 21.90mm (damn close to the 22mm it should be), but the other was 21.65mm - which creates a noticeable gap...i contacted my dealer and sent it back for return...he will be sending me a replacement bracelet...crazy to send the entire bracelet and not just the endlink - but - the watch is new and the factories are not providing the dealers replacement parts yet...yes - sending back the bracelet is a hassle - so check your endlinks' fit before accepting a watch...my dealer was ok with it - but the turnaround time is a month plus...i do love the brushed look of the bracelet - and actually brushed a skyland case/bracelet for the look...however - the yellow dial seawolf screams for the Ocean Racer rubber strap...so that's how mine is setup...i plan to use the brushed bracelet of the seawolf on one of my skylands or to tone down my skyland code yellow... the yellow dial is simply great...it is perfect?...no...is it damn close?...yes...is it better than the v1s?...yes...the yellow dial is "all breitling" to me...not toxic yellow...but much more sophisticated...how's the lume?...better than standard "rep" lume - but a giant step behind genuine breitling and/or tritec superlume...yes - it's bright and well done...but definitely not breitling caliber...psst - see above - i have (3) breitling gens and their lume is terrific...this is not... the xtal...alas, the ar is crappy...nice technical term, huh?...nowhere near breitling caliber...too clear and too reflective...breitling ar is blue'ish and is masterful in its clarity; little to no reflection...there's simply too much reflection on this watch...is it good/ok in some lighting situations?...yes...but a lonnnnng way from breitling...to me, this is the biggest tell...to see the shallowness of the rider tabs you have to look close/critical...to see the reflection of the ar on the xtal is noticeably incorrect...but only for those who know the brand and it's ar... the movement is gen eta...and while i wouldn't say it's pristine, it runs well...as written here before, it will never be "swiss" in performance, unless you actually pop it out of a sealed eta packaging yourself...mine runs well within range - so i'm happy'ish... all said and done - if you roll with a crowd that is not as breitling anal as some of us here (present company included, of course), this is a terrific piece...far from perfect and/or super-rep...i'll probably roll with it and not worry a single minute...i do that now...someday, i might send to Z for re-lume, service...and have the xtal ar'd...does it need it?...nope...but for the cost of the rep and the mods - it's still way under the cost of the gen...with tritec superlume, a service and better quality breitling-esque ar, this is a stellar piece...without these - it's still verrrrry good... i wrote this to NOT discourage sales...but rather to point out some of the "flaws" of the rep...anal flaws!...should anyone who likes the brand and/or the color of the dial buy one?...without a doubt!... 3. +1...spot on comments...totally agree...a very unique watch in all aspects - signature Breitling, if you ask me!
  4. yes...the answer is no...you need to raise the dw via a mod...seek out the post from importr on how he did it... R
  5. my Yellow SW arrived today...first thoughts - very well done...i'd send some pix but my damn blackberry camera is horrible... i have the old skool ti SW, so i'm interested in checking out how this one compares... as for the bezel markers, they are fine...of notice is that the 15, 30, 45 markers are not as deeply engraved as the other bezel markers...not noticeable unless you're have freakish knowledge as we do...i have the old skool ti chrono avenger and ti seawolf, along with the old skool ss chrono avenger (fantasy - but with same case as the ti model), and all the colors of skylands (v1s)...so how does this piece compare?...VERY WELL... the yellow of the dial is not ultra-bright and the stenciled numbers are "muted" black...very sharp - makes a statement, but without the seiko monster glare... R-
  6. wow, Red...nice components and even better contributions from RWG's finest...
  7. what did the watch shop do to fix the clasp, Mike?...
  8. @Mike...thanks...very interested in this one, too...will make a nice addition to my Avenger collection...my v1 ti Seawolf (gen dial) is the ultimate tool watch...no matter how many yellow dial watches i've looked at, this one was always the one calling...
  9. Mike...terrific review!!!... can't wait for mine to arrive...should be later this week?!...
  10. Totally agree that the yellow Seawolf looks great on the OR rubber strap...I have the OR strap on my Skyland Code Yellow...I plan to swap the brushed ss bracelet from the Seawolf onto the Code Yellow and use the OR strap with the Seawolf...The Seawolf's dial black numbers/markers contrast nicely with the bIack OR rubber...and the ss bracelet will look sharp with the Skyland's case and the Code Yellow's polished numbers/markers... ...previously, I took a polished ss Skyland bracelet and brushed it myself...makes for a sweet setup on the Skyland - and tones down the blinginess...
  11. @Max, et al -- anyone know if this new v2 Seawolf comes from the same factory as the v1?...tough to tell if the v1 and v2 bezels are the same - but the pix of the v1 bezel above looks pretty good...what do you think, Mike?
  12. haven't seen the AR on it to comment, yet...breitling AR is not colorless, nor is it noticeable blue (as some reps are)...as long as there's a slight hint of blue at angles, it will be close - but if not, i'd rather have it coloreless than rep blue...i own 3 breitling gens and multiple reps to know the difference... re: valve -> not sure I know what you mean...the gen and rep both have the HE valve at the 9 o'clock position on the case edge... R-
  13. here's my QC pix...the specks near the "5" are dust on the xtal...
  14. @Pete --> long time, my friend...hope you are well.... re: datefont - thinking it could be because the v1 had a nickel plated 2836-2 movement and v2 does not...agree, btw, that the bezel doesn't look as crisp...we'll see...
  15. excellent compare, Mike... the only thing i see to add is that the gen's "6" and "9" markers silver frame is slightly thinner toward the inside of the dial than the outside - but i'm sure in normal day-to-day views (non-macro photo views), it's not noticeable...
  16. @Max, et al...sooooo - have you compared this to the gen and/or the old model?...the old one was scary close to the gen, so wondering what other improvements from the v1...is it the same case?...bezel?...is the dial new?...nice that it has c1 superlume...
  17. @Mike...nice find...been swamped with work and home life - so i've been on RWG infrequently...this was a nice post to find!...looks sharp and really good...did you find any variation in price with the dealers you contacted?...
  18. beauty is in the eye of the beholder...so decide for yourself what YOU feel is best...personally, i like the looks of this watch...i certainly own my share of gen and rep Breitlings... being new to the forum, you need to decide if you need a rep to be "replimaniacally accurate" or not...as you read posts/reviews/comments you'll see that many of us compare to gen...its part of the hobby...most reps have flaws - some more than others...so it's up to you what you like...in my collection - i have quite a few inaccurate reps; and some of these are my favorites...i have some reps where a minor flaw from gen bugs me enough i sell/trade it...very subjective... the reviews on the asian 7750 in its various configurations are all over this forum...in tri-compax form (3-6-9) subdials, the major flaw is the sunken datewheel...it does work, but its not flush with the dial...Importr (a well respected forum member) has posted a mod one can do to raise it - but you have to know what you are doing... welcome to RWG...stay awhile....and experiment with what you like...i've gone thru various phases of what i like and what i don't like...so will you...but ultimately, its you who wears the watch in your environment - so only you know best... 19. as i've said in a previous thread a longgggg time ago, i find it funny that many of us have rep collections that if they were indeed gen, would be worth 10's of thousands of dollars - or more!...as it is, people comment on the variety/quantity of my collection (as i wear all my pieces) - but very few fathom that if gen, what the cost would be...so to me, it's not a single watch, but rather the collection...
  20. Hey everyone... looking for a gen 20/18 Diver Pro rubber strap/buckle for my gen Colt...pre-owned in good condition is fine... if you have one or know of a source for one at a reasonable price, pls pm me... thanks...R
