  1. argh...always takes me a lot of trial/error to change out a date wheel on an a21j...i have a new a21j movement that has the "rolex" style date font and i'm changing it out to a "breitling" style date font -- for a fun breilting franken superocean build (gen dial)...what position do you keep the crown/stem in when installing the new date wheel - winding, date change, time change position?...any pix and/or suggestions on the position of the date advance mechanism piece (whatever the hell it's called!) is appreciated... thanks...R
  2. hi ya, Bill...good to see you check in... still wearing my 5513 with your MBW gilt dial... hang in there...hope all is well... R-
  3. hey Ray...will do on my BlueBird...will find some time in the next week or so... Over the years of being on RWG, I've realized the best reps are those that have a robust history and story...My Blackbird converted to a Bluebird by the best-of-the-best Zigmeister, will always be a special piece...When i asked him to service and re-lume my Blackbird with blue lume his response was awesome...surpassed only by his skill in making my Bird a signature piece... Of all my reps and gens, there's nothing like a hunk of Breitling metal on your wrist...nothing!
  4. about time you got one!...pun intended... congrats, Ray...one gorgeous piece of metal, huh?...one of my favorite Breits...bracelet is awesome...my "bluebird" says hi! wear it well...R
  5. @aston -->thanks, but it's the wrong one... @Grim --> it's the old cartel one...Z tried to file it down some, but was worried it wouldn't end up right...so it's slightly off on both ends...
  6. Looking to replace the stock crown guard on my 252...it hasn't fit right since i purchased it years ago...Anyone know where i can get a nice brushed fairly accurate ss crown guard for it?...which dealer - DSN, others?...or if anyone has one, please pm me... Z re-lumed it with blue lume and i've had the datewheel raised...one of my favorite PAMs... thx...R
  7. interesting... the bezel is much improved...the cuts are deeper and more pronounced...the edges in between each cut are a little too sharp/pointy...the gen appears to be a little thicker and less sharp/pointy...all in all, a much better bezel than the old Navi rep...thinking the case/dial/crystal does looks pretty good in general... the old skool Navi tricompax with low beat movements had a similar recessed date wheel - so it looks like they used the same transfer mechanism on this one...i'm referring to the old skool Navi version...the previous older Navitimers with the high beat movement had a more recessed date wheel version... a modder could always raise the date wheel with the application of another date wheel on top of the existing one - using the fishing line method to raise the overlay date wheel to clear the transfer wheel...importr has a post on here about it...have never tried to this, but the mod doesn't look too bad... here's the link: http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/141960-ar-shortfalls-diy-raised-datewheel-for-navitimer/
  8. hey Dave...nice to see you back... no "out-of-the-park" Breit reps in my opinion...good ones - yes...(as hans mentioned)...great ones - no... new steelfish v2 is really good, as is the seawolf v2 above...all have flaws...not sure these are your style, anyway...
  9. I am building this fun "franken lite"...gen dial from Harry, rest is misc Colt and other rep parts...i decided to sand the hands down to the brass metal - and i think it adds a little different look...got some more workadjustment to do on it - but it's getting there... my question is: what to do with how the crystal gasket looks?...as you can see, the gasket is almost the same height as the dial rehaut ring...and in order to make the movement stem line up, I can't close the gap...thinking that perhaps i should remove the clear/white crystal gasket ring and color it with a black sharpie...although, i think i'll try to find a permanent ink type marker that is matte and not as glossy as a sharpie... what do you think?...anyone every "color" a crystal gasket?...saw a post online of a guy who modded a seiko and used a black sharpie...just thinking it looked a little too glossy...as you can see, my gen dial is a matte black... thanks for any advice/comments/harassment... R
  10. Merry Christmas Eve! ...and so my Breitling friends don't think i've gone over to the "dark side", i'll be wearing this later... my brushed Skyland...
  11. really nice work...i especially like the cuts on the bezel edge...they look great... you might want to ping a few places and see if you can pick up a gen Breitling date wheel instead of what looks like a stock eta date wheel...it does make a difference - as i'm sure your other Fighter can attest... R
  12. thanks for the suggestions, guys! @mir36 -? i was thinking this might be the right approach, so i'll give this a shot...my nicks are literally pin head size, so thinking if i can it easy this should work... R
  13. Hi guys...have a DSN pencil lead pvd PAM...it has a couple of really minor nick spots (pin head size...so i'm anal - i know!) where i can see the bare metal...the case is one of DSN's pencil lead pvd, so it's a dark gray and not black...in the past, i would use a sharpie marker to spot treat a darker pvd coating...but with the pencil lead colored pvd coating, i'm thinking this might not be wise...has anyone touched up a pencil lead PAM case, and if so, what did you do?...thanks...R
  14. huh?!...i have (3) gen Breitlings and they all have great lume...an Aerospace, a Steelfish and a Colt Chrono...
  15. @Chrononna...nice pix and review...thanks for sharing..i have the yellow seawolf v2...and also a franken v1 seawolf titanium with gen dial... the v2 is a really nice piece...wish the AR was a little better and the bezel engavings a bit deeper and pronounced... love the gray dial...the breitling gray dial watches (skyland and seawolf) are most versatile... enjoy...and wear it well...R
  16. thanks Ylfig! another good story of collaboration/support on RWG! glad to be back here! R
  17. awesome post!...thanks for sharing... have a Deep Blue Daynight Pro T100 (flat tubes)...when i had the chance to pick it up - i actually sold my modded Blacksteel v2 (didn't need 2 pvd watches)...so you know it must be something special... R-
