  1. yes...various Lange 1 reps exist..obviously the date isn't right on the reps...and what should be the power reserve is actually a date indicator...there's quite a few different models of the Lange 1, so you need to look closely...i've owned at least three and have sold them over the years...Pete is right, check out watcheden - i actually think that's where i picked mine up...all in all - they are nice looking pieces...not exact by any stretch - but nonetheless, nice to wear...good luck... here's some pix of a robertk's: http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/133378-hump-day-wristies/?p=979488 here's one of my old ones in rose gold: http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/101644-mid-week-wrist-check/?p=696617
  2. re: low beat... the v1 Navi's had low beat movements - and while the datewheel is sunken, it's less than the high beat movement... how sunken is the low beat? - approx 0.6mm...more so with the high beat... interesting rep - but need to see one with detailed pix... i still own (2) v1 tri-compax arabic dial (silver and black) Navis - they are favorites...my v1 Fighter is best - especially brushed out... close - but no cigar... 3. my rule of thumb is when the gen cost value of your rep collection approaches $500k, you need help...
  4. even though the original blackbird rep isn't replimaniacally accurate, it's one of the best Breitling reps...the brushed bracelet is awesome...been a long while since one has come up on the sales threads, but if it does, it's worth snatching up...
  5. i've owned every color of rep steelifish v1...as good as they are, there's NOTHING like the gen...the dial and the fit/finish of the gen is 10x better than the rep...and the rep is very good!...i purchased a gen blue dial (the rep isn't even close in color to the gen!) and have a gen black dial franken rep...the dial makes all the difference...the refraction of light that comes off the gen dial's concentric circles is stunning... that said, the reps are good - but noticeable not close to gen...so if you don't care about how close it is to gen, buy rep, wear and enjoy! R
  6. white dial pre-owned - in good/excellent condition - should be $1,800-$2,200...with ss bracelet...less if on leather or rubber...
  7. @gtanak -- your grey dial is a v4?!...definitely different than the white dial version on page 1...the white dial version (v4?!) looks to be more like a v3 to me...the chrono pushers are longer and the 1's are not right...your gray dial avenger on hktan has the right 1's and the right pusher length..also the pearl of the grey dial is much better and more accurate than the white version...interesting differences...confused, i am... the gray dial avenger is much more accurate than the white dial version...they both are v4's?!...if so, buyers better check out the details before buying...
  8. where in god's name did you get a gen seawolf xtal?...yes - that would be a big benefit to the rep...as would a gen bezel...i wear my yellow dial seawolf on the ocean racer rubber strap...it's meant to be on rubber, imo... R
  9. hey ho, RWG!...been awhile, too...i won't hijack Stace's thread - but a fond "hello" to all...like Red, i've been buried in work/life/etc...but all is good...will try to stop by more to catch up... and seriously, Stace's Navi motherlode sale brings tears to my eyes... R-
  10. broke one of mine...the xtal i need is 37.49-37.50mm in diameter, slightly concave (domed) with an edge that is 1.11mm thick...the edge is not stepped... if you have a broken Navi that i can cannibalize for the xtal, please let me know... thanks...R
  11. @Indy - my friend chrono is right...in breitling, i think the better reps (not sure i would say super) are the v2 Skyland Avengers...i own (3) gen breitlings: a Colt chrono, an ti/gold Aerospace, and a blue dial steelfish...
  12. i'm with you, Chi...my membership expired and i need to upgrade again, too...for some reason, i thought i'd get a reminder pm about it... will keep checking on this... R-
  13. nice...wear it well...if you're interested in history, the dial was previously mine...nice!
  14. +3...v1 arabic white dial Navi, v1 Series Speciale and orig no-date Chronomatic...
  15. welcome from central new york...Go Orange! R-
  16. looks great...have a similar build with arabic dial...have you considered adding a cyclops to the xtal?...
  17. my experience has been that it's tough to not effect the writing/printing when using laquers or heat on dials to make them darker...i was actually thinking to do what nanuq recommended - perhaps starting with diluted bleach and/or hydrogen peroxide...start with it dulted and then increase strength if no difference... just wondering if someone has done this or something else...i don't have a couple of spare dials to experiment - but may do so...
  18. Wondering if anyone has experience in "lightening" the yellow rep lume used on various Rollie reps?...can it be slightly bleached (or something) so that it's more creme or off-white?... thinking if the yellow rep lume can be lightend to an off-white color - you could then vintage the off-white using the usual coffee/iodine/other methods...not concerned about the lume losing any luminosity in the process... any thoughts or experience?... thanks...R
  19. hey H...sorry - buried... hmmm...interesting decision...i'd take neither...lol...well sorta...neither is gen-like in color, nor concentric circles...the gen is a light creme/wheat color...i had all 3 rep colors of the steelfish and definitely spent a lot of time deciding which dial is better of the various releases...the old dial has the best color of the batch of dials out there...however, there's a slight golden tinge to the markers against the dial...never could understand what causes this...the lume is also slightly more yellow than gen...if memory serves me right, the dial's lume is pretty good - but i would think the new v2 is probably stronger (both are probably far from gen - but i've not seen a v2 rep compare with a gen...this dial was one of the first releases and was/is highly sought after... i do like the v2 dial - but i would wear it as a "fantasy" piece...i like white dial watches, but breitling's white, often referred to as silver, is in reality, light creme/off-white/straw/wheat in color...i recently purchased a gen Colt a73380 with the same off-white color and blue subdials...the a73380 is quartz, not automatic...compared to my gen blue steelfish, i find that i gravitate to wearing the Colt more - mostly due to the uniqueness of the dial color... all in all - keep the v2 if you want a watch with some nice features and lume - but i'd probably keep the old dial version as it's unqiue...put the old dial in the best case/xtal combo and sell the hybrid v2...i kinda think the v2 case/bezel looks better than the case your old dial is in...pearl and bezel looks better...not sure which xtal is better - but i'd want a xtal with a slight blue tint... hope this helps... 20. @Mike - thanks for your comments...i'm really quite happy with my Seawolf...i do highly recommend it...the flaws will only be known to hard core breitling addicts...the SELs was a surprise because i was really surprised they were off 0.3-0.4 mm...while that doesn't sound like a lot, it produces a noticeable gap...waiting on returns/mods/etc is pretty common in this hobby - so i'm good without the bracelet...and i did put it on the OR strap... the ar is hard to describe on this one...it's clear, not really blue...there's a slight reflection - but that's only in bright light conditions...the lower the light, the better the ar looks - if that makes sense...the lume is a notch up from the skylands and previous edition breitling reps...but it doesn't seem as strong as i would expect it to be...the factories don't use tritec lume, so i would never expect it to be breitling-like... this one is a keeper - so i'll probably get it re-lumed at some point...and get the xtal AR'd...but in reality - there's not a lot of need to do so... what really does bug me - is the bezel...i can handle the fact that the 5,10, 20, 25, 35,40, 50, 55 are not crisp, but it's the shallow engraving of the 15, 30, 45 that bugs me...but the "normal" person wouldn't notice it... all in all - the yellow dial is stunning and really makes for a sharp looking badass watch...especially on OR rubber... R-
  21. hey H - now this is a compare i'm interested in seeing!...thanks for doing so... the gen stellfish dial catches the light amazingly due to the concentric circle detail...from what i've seen of the v2 and the various v1s, both are far from it...
  22. for some clarity - i love this watch...it's definitely a looker - especially on the black rubber ocean racer strap...the "flaws" i mention above exist - but they do not significantly take away from this watch...it's disappointing that the AR and superlume is not up to snuff; which is surprising to me with all these latest high quality reps...anyone who has every owned a breitling will know they are defined by terrific AR and toxic lume...that said - i do enjoy this watch - a welcome change from all the chronos in my collection...i will probably invest some more into it, to bring the AR and lume up to par... i still think the v2 skyland is one of the best replica breitlings out of the box...none of the rep Breits are perfect - but the skyland is close...but i strongly recommend the seawolf - yellow dial - without a doubt...
