  1. nice work, J!... appreciate the effort and the clarity presented...you're an asset to the Breit forum!...R
  2. good point...we should have some stickies here... kudos to the PAM sage advice that dluddy and others provide in this forum!... R-
  3. "while my guitar gently weeps"... (you know you're old when...................)
  4. yeah, but it's a nice, classy and sporty first rep... R-
  5. Thurs: in honor of Lani - who helped me (and many others!) choose the versatile grey dial Skyland... Fri: going dark and sinister...Blackbird
  6. Looking for a nice quality 22mm rubber or silicone strap for my Ebel 1911 BTR...yellow!...thinking this would really set this watch up nicely... I've searched the usual strap sites, but would like some input from members who actually have a model that they recommend from their use...Strap needs to be of good quality and non-dust collecting!...tang or deployment...would like to keep the cost to $30usd; plus or minus...Would love to find a curved end model (head curve is similar to the 45mm Planet Ocean) -- but would settle for the norm... Suggestions, anyone?!...R (i'm in USA/NY; but would order worldwide)
  7. I recently purchased an older "vintage" daytona with running "seconds at 9"...30 minute counter at 3...hour counter at 6... The previous owner thought the movement was "swiss ETA" as he bought the rep a long time ago ('before all the clone craziness') and he usually bought "swiss eta" movements... The watch was sent to where I work, so I can't take any movements pix -- but it's definitely a nice tricompax 7750 movement - per some googling and searching in this forum (new search funtion is making this tough on rwg)...the rotor is undecorated and has a nicely defined brushed finish...there's no "7750" or "ETA" stamped near the balance wheel... So my question is: are all swiss eta 7750 movements stamped "7750" and "ETA"?...if not, how can one tell asian versus swiss?...i apologize if this has been answered before, but the search function of this new site doesn't make it easy to find this answer... thanks...R
  8. Bruce -- sorry for missing this...it was a busy work day y'day and i didn't get online last nite... Unfortunately, i don't have my strap with me at work today, so i'll have to confirm everything tonite or tomorrow...(am wearing my white dial SOSF on dark blue moo-croc tang today, tho (gen tang!)... Here's some quick answers/advice... I would also suggest you check out the pix of these straps on Josh's site here: Breitling deployment strap info 1. both ends that attach to the lugs have holes for spring bars; the short strap has a hole for attachment of the deployment via spring bar... 2. clasp attaches to the short strap; the long strap gets fed thru the deployment and is held in place by the deployment's "pin" and hole in strap 3. i'd have to measure this to be sure...but i do recall it's similar to my rep tang strap which is 3.5mm thick on the edges as it approaches the lug (5mm thick total with the padding) and 3mm thick at the ends 4. i'd have to measure this... 5. only the tail end of the short strap has a hole for a spring bar to attach the deployment... Additionally, of note is that per Josh's site the length of both the 22mm and 24mm straps are 89mm/113mm...i own both the 22mm (brown) and the 24mm (burgundy) straps...of the two, the burgundy strap is of much better looks and quality... hope this helps...i can measure and get the exact details tomorrow... 9. Hey Vly - I have a 7.5" wrist and they fit fine in length...I am, however, not a big fan of the rep Breit deployments and straps - becuase I find there's a "gap" that drives me crazy where the strap comes off the deployment and heads up to the lugs...perhaps a softer strap, might lessen this "gap"...never tried a softer strap - so now you have me thinkin?!... R
  10. casually smart and simple today...(the watch, that is?!)...R
  11. mine is 12 hour...got it off a cheapo chrono avenger from watcheden...and then added it to this a7750 v1 chrono avenger fantasy (same casing as the v1 ti chrono avenger - but in polished ss (absolutely shocked that more folks don't have this beauty)...anyway, I had to polish up the utc module as it came brushed...does the trick for me!... R-
  12. wow...thanks A - the man of reason...R
  13. Thanks, Andreww for weighing in... I totally agree on the points you raised about the v3 -- and to me, one of the best reasons to get a v3 is price...We all know that there are many really good quality reps out there, but some are well over $300usd...so to be able to get a reasonably accurate, high quality rep like the v3 skyland and/or the asian SOSF for under $200usd, that's what drives the "best" in my book... R-
  14. bringing out the hardware for today...R
  15. did you read toad's post that compares these 2 versions?...it's not as cut/dry as Yodap makes it...he is a STRONG proponent of v2, but the v1 and v3 have there pros, as well...like anything, it's subjective...
  16. Looks great!... I have the white dial version - which is actually off-white/antique white...great wrist presence... mine came with a burgundy rep moo-croc deployment and it's actally a nice one compared to my smaller sized moo-croc breit rep straps...you can also mount soft 24mm straps on it - so with the galaxy of 24mm PAM straps out there, the skys the limit... The lack of AR is a bummer - but mine will be going in soon for it...another reason I went for the white dial was because the lack of AR is less noticeable with white dials than black... You FIL will enjoy it!... R-
  17. I have a v1 Navi and a current version Navi...the current version has k2222 double AR...i am contemplating a crystal swap if it can be done...why?..well the dial on the v1 Navi is matte black and the dial on the current version Navi is glossy blue...i'm finding that with the glossy dial and the double AR that there's still noticeable reflection...the v1 Navi has light rep AR, but could use double AR to highlight the matte black dial...so i'm wondering if a swap is a short-term solution until i can arrange an AR slot... would appreciate anyone who has direct experience with these crystals -- they look to be the same size externally -- but hey, ya never know?!... thanks...R
  18. ok...i missed the drama over at RG -- even tho i rarely visit there... in a nutshell, what was the drama with dave123 about?!... R
  19. much better... been a tough transition for us blackberry users... but it's getting there!...thanks for all the hard work...R (running IE7)
  20. thanks, A...that's the plan...but i figure i'll wait to see if i can find a dial and then do it all...after seeing that there's 2 gen dials, i just wanted to be sure that the date window would be aligned with either one...R
  21. @andreww --> thanks!...was wondering about the differences and thought i was crazy or something - especially after reading the "guide" and researching this rep on the forum...i appreciate knowing that the gen has evolved over time...question: is there a concern on doing a gen dial swap with the v1 in terms of alignment of the date window/etc?... and i have to tell you, i love this v1 CA...a realllllly nice piece!...i actually bumped into a guy a couple weeks ago that had the gen ti SeaWolf on - while i was wearing the v1 CA rep...he was amazed how good the rep looked...(and likewise - the detail on the gen ti SeaWolf is amazing!) R-
  22. getting some wierdness on ie7, too...some pictures and links...and how a page fits on my screen...not big issues, but surprising with ie7... nice work, Admin and team...upgrades aren't easy - this i know...all in good time... R-
