  1. i simply say thank you...and if they comment in length, i add that i'm a "watch guy"...and collect them...i leave it at that...R
  2. damn...that Bird looks great with the numbers painted!... definitely a cool look - the painted numbers and rubber strap...nice job!...and goes to show you, that even tho it's not "authentic" looking, it sure is a sweet look!... i have a tough time contemplating a change of the ss bracelet on the Blackbird...i love that bracelet and the look...so i usually go with the Skyland and/or SOSF on black rubber... re: World/GMT --> what i like about it is the off-white dial...it lends the watch an old world charm of sorts...kinda vintage...it's why i put the Gunny Mona strap on it...i now have the burgundy breitling moo-croc strap on it (which is actually one of the better feel breitling rep straps)...i moved the Gunny over to the grey Skyland... R-
  3. it happens...sorry to hear that... work with Hont...he'll get it where it should be...the frustration and angst will subside when it comes back anew... hang in there...R
  4. totally agree!...sooooo - how much do you want for it, jm?!... (IMO, after seeing jm's Datora with double AR, any interest in the white dial Bentley has cooled...) R-
  5. just caught this post...been a busy few days... i'll take some pix of the World/GMT in daylight and post friday and/or this weekend...assuming we get some damn sun this summer in Upstate NY...may also re-shoot my two other Navis: the v1 black dial tricompax arabic and the current model TT blue dial tricompax arabic with double AR... Clv is right on case size...make no mistake about it, the World/GMT is a large watch...great presence...it WILL get noticed b/c of the detail and it's size...and the off-white color tones it down from bright white...precisely why i would never consider putting it on polished ss bracelet...too blingy to me...verstaile enough with the dial to be worn on a variety of strap/bracelet choices...and at 24mm, many a PAM strap will work!...the lugs on the normal size Navi's are actually 23mm...so you need to be careful of some 22mm leather straps...it's definitely not a standard 22mm lug... The smaller Navi's are more discreet...as much as a Navi can be...the size helps tone it down...and to be honest, i really don't think it looks at all cramped having all that detail on the smaller dial...the dial on the v1 Navi is matte finish and the current model is more glossy...the more glossy finish is more gen-like (per Andreww)...what's interesting is that my glossy blue dial Navi has double AR - but there's a "glare"; not from the crystal, but rather from the dial...since there's a dial "glare", i actually have contemplated shifting the double AR crystal to my black matte v1...however, there's no way i'm going to take it all apart to do so...especially not completely sure that the crystals between the two versions are the same... R-
  6. The Navi World/GMT is 46mm or so...it's large... I went for it because the dial screams classic Breitling with it's detail...and i was happily surpised that the color is off-white/antique white with subtle blue numbers...since it's muted white, it doesn't announce it's presence as quickly as bright white, IMO...anddddd, the factory AR is nice...not at the level of Chief's AR by any stretch, but nice!... The GMT hand is independent and is a nice accent...IMO, this watch needs to go on leather...i think with it's size, that on polished SS, it would be very blingy... re: Montbrillant Datora...if there's any doubt as to the beauty of this watch, check out jmarin.72 posts on his...sure - it's flawed...but seriously, it's so damn detailed, unless someone very knowledgeable is handling and scoping it, who will know...i love the look of this watch and jmarin.72 will attest it's sharp...very sharp...and once again, signature Breitling... re: Blackbird...it doesn't get enough press...it's a beauty...especially with the brushed ss bracelet...one of the best bracelets out there...comfortable and not a magnet for scratches...prone to date-advance problems, tho...not all, but some...mine has this, but it's going out for service soon...the date advances on it's own, but using the crown it doesn't...it needs a simple'ish adjustment as the plate holding the gear adjustment needs tightening...at least that's what my research might suggest...doesn't matter...the Blackbird is one handsome watch...one of my favorites!... R-
  7. search out dave123 posts for his white dial Bentley... and moreover, check out jmarin.72 posts for his white dial Montbrillant Datora...after seeing his gorgeous double AR'd Monty, i prioritized this one over the Bentley...but that's just my preference... R-
  8. Brom is spot on here...let's keep some perspective about this all... I approached my Breitling collection from a quality, scarcity, dial color/strap/bracelet, reasonable accuracy and lastly price perspective...and used some friggin common sense...i don't have an endless supply of cash, so i prioritized a bit....and read/researched/discussed as much as i could...it takes a lot of time - but that's why this is a hobby...let's keep that in mind... So here's my two cents... 1. determine and prioritize the models you like that are scarce and more expensive...for example, the v1 Navitimer and the v1 titanium Chrono Avenger...these are tough to find an can be expensive...why prioritize a stock watch when you can pick one up at any time?!...prioritize the cost...i wanted a Blacksteel - but when they came out they were expensive...i waited on this one...but when our beloved Andreww discovered a price drop with Hont on these, i pounced...all along, though, i decided the Blacksteel HAD to go on the infamous HKTAN black/red strap - a pricey option...so when the watch dropped a $100usd, i ordered it with the HKTAN strap...sexy combo -- but certainly not cheap... 2. determine which watch you want/need with mods...foe example, the Navitimer...they all need double AR to make the dial pop...be patient and look for a member sale or decide to buy one and send it out for double AR...plan the dollars and time accordingly...i was lucky to find a blue dial TT tricompax arabic Navi with k2222 AR...anyone who knows me, knows i prefer the arabic numbered dials...so this watch covers my blue category and the TT ss bracelet is a bonus...i also bought a dark blue breitling tang leather strap for it...so it's currently leathered up...as an aside, for my v1 black dial tricompax arabic Navi, i recently purchased a black racing leather strap with gen buckle for it...i prefer my Navi's on leather...but keep my ss and tt bracelets for when the moods strikes... 3. determine you color collection...i wanted the v1 Chrono Avenger above all - titanium and black dial...and i wanted the Blackbird - black dial on brushed ss...yummy!...lol...since this was my plan, i decided that the grey dial skyland was the choice...at the time, i confirmed this decision by reaching out to Lanikai for a comparison photo shoot on the grey and black dials...grey -- IMO, and others share it -- is more versatile with various leather, rubber, ss straps/bracelets...and i bought the v2 model after pouring over the info and Toad's terrific review...why?...a no-brainer, IMO...value!...price/quality/accuracy = value...save some dollars and go after the scarce and pricey models...shifting to Navitimers, i have the v1 black and the blue AR'd dials...i liked the World/GMT...so i bought it in white...well it's actually off-white...and this watch looks great on leather!...debated getting the hat-trick and pick up a white dial tricompax arabic Navi -- but geeeez, i have the white dial World/GMT...so i will wait...SOSF in white; asian movement...why?...Robert had a great deal on one with sapphire dial and decent enough AR...and as a white dial watch, AR is less important...once again, save some money on the skyland and SOSF... 4. determine the likely-to-wear combo of dials with straps/bracelets/materials with what you plan to buy...spread out your choices and cover the spectrum...for example, here's my current setups: Blacksteel on hktan red/black, grey Skyland on dark brown croc leather, white SOSF on diver pro black rubber, black dial CA on chocolate leather, Blackbird on brushed ss bracelet (best damn bracelet, IMO), black dial Navi on black racing leather, blue Navi on dark blue leather, off-white World/GMT on burgundy croc leather, white dial "fantasy" polished ss v1 cased CA with polished/brushed utc ss bracelet, gen Aerospace black/chocolate dial with ti/gold utc bracelet...phew...and someday, i'll add: black dial SOH on Ocean Racer rubber and mesh ss, a blue dial SOSF on blue rubber, a yellow dial SeaWolf - or a grailed ti v1 Seawolf and lastly perhaps a white Montbrillant Datora (but with needed double AR mod)...but no hurray on these, as they are readily available... 5. keep you eye on the FS posts...there are beauties out there modded and/or at a reduced price from our membership...and with pix and reputations at stake, most are the best buys!... Closing Remark: enjoy this hobby and put the loop aside and don't get hung up on the microscopic replimania...sure it's cool to have a watch ever so close to gen...i go for variety with colors/textures/etc...and seriously, if someone is that close to me to call out that the top of the "8" on my v1 CA is too exposed, then they better be female and naked!... 9. I realize this is an older thread...but i recently changed over the ss bracelet to the rubber on my Slevin...and incurred some problems...as Robbie stated the tolerences of the pin is tight...i had great difficulty with the lug pin...it was slightly bent and needed to be straightened/bent in order to fit thru the bracelet tube/sleeve and the lug holes...long story/short -- the pin broke... does anyone know where to source a replacement lug pin?...i have no idea of the size/name/etc of these pins... thanks...R

  12. Keep in mind that the Legende can only be worn on ss bracelet... The Navitimer World GMT is a nice choice, too...and the slide rule aligns, too...it's 46mm...and it looks great on leather...

  18. 7.25" wrist...R
  19. Thanks, Guys!... Yeah, Sixx, on the utc modules...but this one was a lot cheaper than my gen Aerospace's utc!... This watch was "built"...I bought the watch - from a non-board dealer - at a much discounted price than what josh sells it for...this watch has the amazing v1 case, great looking polished/brushed bracelet and a grrrrreat dial...it's a dial similar to the much larger Super Avenger in a smaller case...and the AR is nice, too... anyhow, I bought a blobby pearl brushed ss white dial CA with utc from watcheden...I then had my local jeweler polish up the utc and the connecting link to match... It creates a nice size, great looking watch...and to me, adding the utc actually tones down the blinginess of the bracelet a bit...each link of the bracelet has a center brushed link flanked by 2 polished links...creates a unique sporty watch...heavy, but definitely doable on my 7.25 inch wrist... A fun and simple mod...and one only the truly diehard breitling folks would call out...and thankfully, they are not in my circle!... R-

Vacheron Constantin Malte Chronograph - Venus 175 movement this VC is a nice quiet sporty elegant piece!...perfect size...amazing dial...there's something about the VC brand -- their watches look great whether you are in the boardroom or the boardwalk! ...last work day for the week...Happy 4th July Holiday weekend...
  23. directions: take your right hand and reach behind your back...locate your [censored] and take wallet out of pocket... repeat process until you understand the RWG concept...
  24. this tool is just a resizer...no editting capability - just sizing... for most shots, i shoot at a high pixel rate using a macro setting...i download to a folder...i then select all the pix i like...using this tool, i then select/highlight all the pix i want to resize...once selected, i right-click, select the size - (medium 800X600) works best for RWG pages, enter...it then creates a copy of the selected pix in the new size with a "filename (medium)" name...i then upload the pix to imageshack and then post to RWG pages... works quickly when you don't need to crop or change the original image in some way other than sizing...
