  1. wow... Robbie -- you are a helluva man to write these honest and sincere feelings...i have always respected you as a knowledgeable forum expert -- but i have to say, you're spirit and strength, your honesty and your openness put you in a much different league...people are defined by who they are and not by what they have...we do all, from time2time, forget this as we chase the many "things" in life... know this, my friend, you make a difference -- making a difference with those you love and care about is what life's all about... all the best to you and your family...RobH
  2. Vootz -- congrats...wear it well!...R My "ultimate" PAM 252 from deltatahoe arrived today!...i mounted mine on rubber...truly a great piece... Your PAM 252 appears to be a different model than the "ultimate" -- which is a much darker blue ("cobalt blue") and has fully lumed hands and dial...Taka wrote a tremendous review of the ultimate here: Takashi's PAM252 review Here's a pix from Takashi's review:
  3. Ming...i just dropped by this post to check out your avatar again... the range PO chrono looks to have great detail...a bit too busy for me, though...what's the movement in this one?...the date window looks great - is it quartz?... R-
  4. Here's my grey dial v3 skyland on Gunny Mona...i think the brown color of the strap, the white stitching AND the black dyed edges of this strap really brings out the grey dial...as as Hooks says, you can't use the standard breit buckle - i use a brushed ss thumb buckle... enjoy -- R
  5. looks great...congrats and wear it well...R
  6. excellent work...thanks for the great pix/tutorial... R-
  7. whoaaaaa...that's a whole lot of walrai love... me thinks the poor fellow needs a blue trash can... R-
  8. Pugs -- send me a glam shot of you and the bucket and i'll make sure you make the season's game program! R-
  9. thanks, J!... appreciate it...sames me a helluvalot of time...i owe ya one...R
  10. Looking for recommendations on an easy-to-use freeware program on windows xp, where you can create a non-gap recording of songs from various mp3, cds, itunes stuff...where you can excerpt parts of songs and string them together into a "pre-game" music tape...the output could be an mp3 or cd format...something they can play via an ipod and/or a cd player into the sound system... prefer something that someone has had experience with; preferably something i can get from a clean source like cnet's download.com She's a senior high school volleyballer...and she's computer savvy... thanks, R
  11. pushers aren't rubber...coated steel.. and ST4's right, for the rubber strap and/or ss bracelet it's worth it alone... nice quality, nice looking, valued priced reps...a great way to own this expensive rep - and/or as a trial watch before shelling out the big bucks for the automatic...think about the latter option -- you can always resell this watch and lose little to no money in doing so...it's a great win/win... we sometimes overlook these advertised as "same casing as a7750" or whatever quartz models...i went the quartz route for the HBB, Ebel BTR, UN MDD, this watch - and have had a couple others...reliable, great value reps... lastly, i will add that the white version i own with the ss bracelet, reallllly fits on my wrist well...i have a 7.5-7.75" wrist and wear-preference...i wear my watches slightly loose...and this one the same...it has no flop or off-balance movement...you would think it would as it looks top heavy...but the casing, the lug angle and the bracelet makes for a really nice fit...and yes, it has a weight to it - which will be less with the rubber...but it's not that massive to be uncomfortable for long periods of time... i like this watch...and am glad i have both white and black - and have both the ss and rubber straps should i ever decide to swap...but IMO, the white looks better on ss and black looks nasty on the black rubber... enjoy -- R
  12. @Sixx - Denial, denial, denial... You are wild and direct!... But that's why we love ya!... R- (Notice this reply, like Lani's to Ming, had nothin to do with watches?!...that's why some of us hang around here!)
  13. hey, hey, hey...wait a minute...i resemble that remark?!... (shamefully adding one more post to the pile) on topic: not sure why posts are down...my response to Carl's "Noob Issue" post - a complimentary thread to this one --> my musings to Carl's "Noob Issue" post R-
  14. Vacheron Constantin "Quai de l'Ile" why?!...the watch speaks for itself...and seriously, how cool would it be to roll this off your tongue when someone says "nice watch. what is it?"
  15. psssst...it's a walrus...
  16. Congrats, Red... Bought my daughter, 17, a D40 for Christmas last year...she's a serious photog and planning to study photog and art/design in college next year...researched the heck out of it at the time and decided this was one of the best deals out there at the price point... enjoy it!...R
  17. ok...forgive me if someone else posted on this topic...but the darn search function makes it hard to know if this has been discussed/shared before...probably has...oh well... i came to the AP ROO party a bit late and a few dollars short...not knowing how i would like this on my wrist - and moreover - having too many other watches ahead of it in the pecking order - i decided to buy a quartz model that was in the FS section as a "trial"...i've gone this route before - that is, buying a quartz model that has the same casing as the more expensive automatics... yes - i know it's flawed...but seriously, i'm buying it for looks and fun...and where i live a ROO is something from Australia you see in a zoo... that said, i bought a white dial quartz ROO on ss bracelet...this is one hunk of a watch...a lot of metal here...but it seriously fits my 7.5"-7.75" fine...it lays down nicely and the bracelet wraps around perfectly... i decided i'd like to get a rubber strap for this and contacted Reg (Narikaa)...he was overseas and responded that he can't get the strap, but that he was getting the quartz models with rubber straps for sale...(he has sold them previously)...as is the excellent service from Reg, he emailed me from Thailand with pix...for 68 pounds = $112usd, he shipped me a black one from Thailand...(note: they will cost a little more for shipping from UK)...attached are pix of the white dial version from the FS thread and the other pix of the white and black dial versions on rubber are from Reg... hey - it's a cool watch...as most know...so for approximately $250usd i have both versions - white and black- and an ss bracelet and rubber strap to swap back/forth...works for me...and lucky for me, i find the white dial version looks great on ss and the black dial looks nasty on the black rubber... i will continue to monitor member sales threads and consider an automatic - probably a secs @ 9 - to keep the price down...in the interim, these work for me...they may for you, too... enjoy -- R
  18. ST -- looking good, my friend!...R
  19. I've been with RWG for 10 months or so...with approximately 900 posts - some inquisitive, some informative, some supportive and some just plain dumb! I discovered RWG, RG, RWI, TRC, etc by accident...I received a spam email for replica watches -- who hasn't received one of these?!...thankful i didn't get a virus/malware/spyware/etc, i thought for a moment...remembering that trip to Singapore where i picked up a cheapo quartz Breitling Emergency in a darkened off-street bizarre...still have it, too...with rain falling, i decided to spend the afternoon suffering thru another Buffalo Bills loss and surfing the net discovering the "Rep World"...i found RWG and RG first...and quickly decided that the knowledge, expertise, photography, comaraderie was stronger here...hell, i didn't even know what an automatic movement was or how it worked...or why some guy with amazing photography skills has a besieged walrus losing his bucket?!... And i discovered the hobby of collecting and modding...and of marrying in photography with text...some great commentary - technical and humorous...one of the best pieces on this forum is Toad's Guide to Picking Up Women With Your Navitimer Sliderule...and "blam", i discovered the price of these "thangs" range from under $100usd to over a $1000usd...geeez, i thought, how do i hide this hobby from my wife?!...so the quest began for a Breitling...discovered the asian steelfish and order the white one...great reviews, great detail, great value...but damn, the skyland was cool, too...Christmas was approaching, a time where man-purchases can get hidden in the chaos of video game systems, ipods, jewelry for the family...so i decided on a v3 skyland after Toad's review and Lani's kind/informative post on grey vs. black dials -- a post prompted by a PM asking him for wrist shots and some thoughts...Lani didn't know me and my post count clearly showed i was a nervous buyer wanting to be ever sure?!...As i found out, quickly, guys like Toad, By-Tor, Lani, Dlduddy, HikeUSA, Ubi, Freddy, Andreww (and countless others) were patient, informative and downright cool to learn/discuss with... I started down the path of "value" reps and when i discovered a good one, i posted info on it...my camera was months away from ever being used...but eventually, with some prodding by some members, i tried it out -- to ok results...i have decided that i buy watches for looks -- not to impress; but because i like their style, texture, feel...in my general world of existence, most people don't know a PAM from a Breitling...Upscale is a nice Seiko...There are some great designs in this world of watches...I went for that -- with reasonable pricing...i remember receiving my first rep and realizing that the flaws that are so commonly discussed and macro-ly photographed are so amazingly small that in order to see them you have to strain...but to each his own...some are obsessed with having the best rep - replicmanical perfection...i have to admit, i have spent countless hours, too, comparing details/fonts/colors/etc on some target watches...when i received the Narikaa PO as a value purchase, i was very much impressed with the quality/look/feel on a $100usd or so watch...i posted and damn was this post a monster?!...Chrgod - Lord of the Value Watch Thread - included it...I felt like I contributed in some odd way... Anyhowwwww - what's the point of this reply?!...that this is a place to learn/discover/share/question with fellow watch nuts...and we are all different...but as in life, we need to respect that difference - praising the noob for his first purchase (flawed or not) and praising the ultramodders that put together masterpieces...moreover, we are a diverse community...what i enjoy the most is the comaraderie of this place...selling a piece to a newbie and hearing how much they like it...having some fun along the way... We have: great photographers creative minds humorous prose incredible knowledge sourcing experience collaborative efforts some humorous (and obnoxious) bantering an amazing bizarre of pre-owned reps/gens/straps/parts hardworking members and admin teams friendships forged somali pirate headshot discussions occassional sightings of chuck norris Ubi's marble kitchen island Lani's cannon forearms Sixx's wild, yet direct posts and sexy avatars We are RWG...and we are the best there is...and we will only be the best thru the diversity and contribution of each member..in his/her own way...(theme song of Top Gun playing in the background - ceramic, that is?!) R-
  20. an easy one to choose for today... (but wearing black Nike mock golf shirt today...it goes better with the watch... )
