  1. very nice job!!! I also modded my black SMP heavily - with many genuine parts - including genuine movement. wear it well! hard work pays off!
  2. there is a difference between making it look cosmetically genuine and actually "genuine". Sourcing all genuine parts and putting it together technically will cost you almost the same price as buying the genuine thing - if not more. Best way is to figure out what flaws you can't live with and correct those by getting genuine parts - you'll have to compromise here and there but it's a lot of fun as you collect the parts. good luck
  3. ......well lets not forget many of the sports cars are manufactured by EU countries i.e Germany, and with the addition of the autoban....lol i'm not too sure about what you just said.
  4. if you're going to get your gf a seamaster - get her the ladies Omega SMP - its quartz powered and is smaller than the mid-size - looks great actually and they normally go for a little cheaper too.
  5. what happened sssurfer? I've changed the datewheel of the Seagull with the ETA 2892 before, there is absolutely no problem. (I installed a genuine omega datewheel - 2892 base movement - on the seagull and there is not problem). How come your watchsmith is having a hard time dissembling this movement? its almost a straight copy of the 2892 =S
  6. Yeah i saw the Ad as well, thats what my first reply was all about here.
  7. ohh i finally got what you are saying. you are arguing whether the movement is DG8413 or DG2813..... You better ask some of the other guys who knows more about these asian copy movements.
  8. the gold colored movement does not mean that it is different from the silver colored movement. They are the same! and yes, it is still the DG8413 movement. The movement in your pictures is not swiss, if thats what you trying to say.
  9. well, it depends on what you're selling description is; what did you describe the movement being? It certainely isn't an ETA movement, in fact, the member who pointed this out (which i'm also aware of who it is) is correct in the description of the movement. That is also the reason why they call it the "UPO Lite version" as opposed to the swiss version. Hope this clears it up for you
  10. definitely one very nice watch TripleHD. The AR does make a difference, definitely a keeper!
  11. funny thing is that i also didnt get compliments when i wrote my SMP on brown leather band last night. One of my friends says it looks cheap. what can you do? ...i'm still wearing it... i don't care - its so much lighter than SS
  12. haha its not there is much that TWG can do about it, you can't just go and kick his ass in China. Trust me, you don't want to end up in jail in China - you really don't.
  13. hammer can be used for removing links from the bracelet - pin held. I would also second the timezone tutorial.
  14. I was taught by my master watchsmith that all the parts must be stripped down - no exception. I do know that for the oscillator, you should reassemble it onto the mainplate for the safety of the hairspring, but everything else must go. once you start taking shortcuts here, then you start taking shortcuts there, and before you know it.....watchmaking won't be the same.
  15. take it easy on the poor fellow R1cco, =) you should post this request in the section "watch request", it'll get some traffic there.
  16. sorry Playful_eyes, I'm just buried with college work and I had to stop offering service early as I'm returning back to Sydney soon. PM me if you able to drop by and hand it to me - I should be able to return it to you by the end of the day - But i just can't do postal orders.
  17. from my experiences of installing genuine tubes and crowns - Omega tubes are also push-in type. they are smooth not threaded. Unless the tubes of POs have been changed. Are you sure you purchased a genuine PO tube?
  18. I have yet to see a member do this Kruzer00, but I think it will fit. the 2500 movement that the genuine has is still based off the 2892 - meaning the dimensions should be the same - so the genuine dial will fit the 2824/2836 movements. I can't see any issues with it unless the case is off, but the ultimate seems to be very very close to the genuine thing so my guess would be that the rep case could be 1:1 - i've work on several of these ultimates and they are very very good quality watches. Hope that helps.
  19. well moving the logo is definitely possible, as TripleHD stated in his post. The only reason there hasnt been many members trying to replace the rep dial with the genuine dial in the later models is because the rep dial is actually quite accurate - apart from the logo. I personally think its a really minor issue, but i guess it may be more major for others. I would definitely suggest moving the logo and saving yourself the 150-160USD for a genuine dial. thanks for the mention TripleHD and Who.
  20. The easiest solution is to replace the 2836 movement (broken? not functioning well?) with another 2836. There is no reason why you would need to put in a 2824 - since you are putting it into a sub case - why would you trouble yourself more by trying to fit a 2824 in?
  21. @ Torques Joe went out of his way to help explain how to perform this task with pictorials, maybe some acknowledgment would be nice? if we dont acknowledge each other's work and time, soon, members will be less inclined to contribute to our community. bazz, yours is great as well - maybe they should sticky that. Seems like a common problem.
  22. hahahaha kruzer00 you are definitely a billionaire! I was thinking of getting you a golden fountain pen for you to sign those billion dollar cheques with! =)
  23. to be honest, Many of the Ladies TAG heuer models are relatively cheap. You can nice used on ebay for around the 200-300 mark. You just need to take it to a jeweller to have it polished and it will look almost new. Otherwise, just buy a new one from ebay for around the $400-500. Although i'm far from being married, I think getting your significant other a genuine is preferable. =)
  24. no I meant the genuine watch: I remember reading that it has an ETA-2892. So I dont see why it would not fit the replica case.
