  1. I thought they were double AR'd. I remember reading some complaints of the crystal being slightly milky at certain angles. Have they corrected it?
  2. I don't believe weight has anything to do with G forces. A quartz watch will perform better under those loads than a mechanical watch. For me, it's a matter of preference. I wore a Citizen Wingman for while then I had a rapid-D at altitude and it practically came apart. That's when I started wearing the MIL issued watch.
  3. Yeah, weight is a problem with these. I like to feel it there. Careful with the Luminox watches; they're practically feather light too.
  4. This is what I wore when I flew with the USAF. MIL issued! ETA Quartz movement and Hesalite crystal to expand with pressure changes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. On the boat today! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Thanks! I'll take her apart and give her a service.
  7. Okay, the watch came in today. It's a PAM 382 Bronzo. I opened her up and took the P.9000 bridge off. All the screws underneath needed to be tightened. They weren't so loose as to fall out, but all took at least a half turn. I do see a potential problem with the P.9000 bridge; the decorative screws are all glued in and have the potential of falling out. I placed a very small amount of glue on the opposite side of each screw to make sure they stay in place. So far the watch is running well and keeping good time. Only time will tell!
  8. Will do, Mike! My experience so far with this purchase reinforces that you need to know the watch you're purchasing and to really pay attention to the QC pics. If I hadn't caught the differences in the beat rate, I would've ok'd the QC and would've gotten stuck with garbage. That's not to say that I still won't get stuck with garbage!
  9. Very interesting read! I guess this would explain my recent purchase of PAM Bronzo. The QC pics showed a low beat movement on the timeograph and the date font looked off. I queried the TD and had to wait a week for him to get a new watch from the factory. Apparently the factory is back logged on parts for this watch and threw it together with what they had. The new QC looked good. The watch is in transit. Let's see what it looks like. AJ already warned me to open her up and take a good look at the movement for loose parts. I might as well give her a little oil while I'm at it.
  10. I liken this as a precursor to automatons; where watchmakers created mechanical wonders as if they were almost bragging about their skills.
  11. Thought this is amazing! Swiss mechanical makers are incredible! http://youtu.be/GTWT7NMAZP4
  12. Hesalite is still currently used on all NASA commissioned watches. In addition, the current US Military issued Pilot's watches are made with Hesalite crystals. The reason for this is that Hesalite expands and contracts with pressure changes without shattering.
  13. Wow AJ! You finally finished her. Looks awesome! Congrats!
  14. I paid for the high-end model! Maybe the maker is trying to pull a fast one on Andrew. I told Andrew that I'm not comfortable with the results of the meter. He hasn't gotten back to me yet. You can tell in the pics above that it's already showing signs of patination from the factory. It's a bit of a head scratcher! I know that Andrew will make it right.
  15. Yup! He's looking into it.
  16. This one is mine: The rate is wrong and the amplitude is a bit high.
  17. Thanks guys! I thought that the date looks off and I thought that it's supposed to be running at 28,800. The QC pic shows the meter at 21,600. Is that right?
  18. Need some help with some QC pics please! Thanks!
  19. My original rep from '08 is back on my wrist after I finally completed her service.
  20. It's all about Horology for me! Owning both gens and reps; I wear my watch for no one else but me!
  21. You're killing me Mike! "Picked this up for sh*ts and giggles today"!
  22. Hey guys! I just ordered my first PAM. It's the 382 Bronzo from Andrew. Before I get the QC pics; is there any trouble spots that I need to look out for on the pics? I've been a Breitling guy and that's where my expertise lays. Any heads up will be greatly appreciated! Thanks! P
  23. It's a Gen strap. I picked it up from my local AD.
  24. This is actually a SO strap that I picked up from an AD for my Seawolf. I believe it's rubberized leather. They have every color that Breitling uses in their SO watches.
