the pins are a standard springbar setup....i don't have a springbar tool, so i just used the smallest screwdriver in my mini-screwdriver set to mash down the pin to get it to release. pretty easy.

ditto -- this thing rocks. here are a couple pics (took them this morning before going to work; best chance at decent lighting i've had yet, but still not ideal): you may notice a small scratch on the dial next to the 12 marker; i've emailed angus about this and am sure he will send a replacement dial / make things right. deltatahoe EDIT: to remove reference to bracelet not fitting my 7" wrists...i was fiddling around with the bracelet tonight and realized that the link closest to the clasp will actually come out -- you have to use two screwdrivers to be able to get it to unscrew though (otherwise it just spins).

nice shots & interesting size comparison to the big bang....that AR is really something too did you guys both get tracking information from angus? i haven't received anything; i figured he was too busy w/ getting all these watches out & didn't bother providing tracking. just curious (having a tracking number has never made a watch arrive any faster)... deltatahoe

My New Davidsen Pam 127 Fiddy, E Movement, Pictures!
deltatahoe replied to itseme's topic in The Panerai Area
looks great! time to pair it up with a nice new strap -
my experience is similar to pugwash's....fortunately (or unfortunately?), i have really liked all my pams. the one that surprised me the most is the 187 -- initially when i saw it i was perplexed as to why everyone was drooling over it. but then it grew on me, and i was able to pick one up for a song from a member here; now i love it -- it is the ultimate sporty watch with a rubber strap, and looks completely different on my europelli shell cordovan vintage caramel. i'm still not totally sure about my pam 063, but i'm going to give it the works (new cyclops, datewheel & superlume) and hope for the best. in the event that it doesn't work out, i'm sure i'll find someone who would love to pick up the complete package. deltatahoe

beautiful watch v -- must have been fun putting all the necessary pieces together. now the real question -- what strap best suits it?

i've had nothing but great transactions with the two dealers discussed in these threads, and i have RWG to thank for leading me to them and informing me about replica watches. so i fully agree with the forum's purpose and function. i just personally don't enjoy the negative and often accusatory tone of these threads, so i think i'll just exclude myself from the discussions from this point on. my point about this being blown out proportion is primarily with regard to how badly this dead horse is being beaten. last count on the little white lies thread was 500+; let's hope the dealers have heard our dissatisfaction with the way certain watches and/or terms have been misrepresented and will respond in the way they represent watches in the future. i think it is time to move on -- i don't believe discussing it more at this point will make a bigger impact than the previous 550 posts. finally, to answer your question directly (even though i agree with your point above), my reason for being here is that i love watches and enjoy learning & discussing them with others. deltatahoe

i think this line of reasoning is a little over the top, don't you? nobody wants to be mislead. but at the same time, not everyone has the time to spend on this boards arguing over these items. most of the time in life, the most vocal (or popular for that matter) people don't necessarily represent the feelings of the majority. i appreciate your efforts to get people to speak up, but based on human nature, i don't think it will happen, even if people did feel differently than you. i for one, think this whole thing is being blown out of proportion. sure, maybe the noobs don't fully understand that you need to ask questions and seek clarifications on various items and descriptions. from my perspective, this level of scrutiny is just a normal part of any significant purchase. you're talking apples and oranges. you think you should go about buying a $2 carton of milk and a $300 watch (replica or otherwise) in the same manner? absolutely not -- for the $300 item (at least for me), you ask questions to make sure you understand what you're getting and you make a decision based upon whether or not you believe you're getting what you're paying for. just my thoughts... deltatahoe

i think everyone would agree that it would be great if there was an accepted, standardized name and/or description for every rep, movement, crystal type, etc. however, part of the thing that makes collecting reps interesting (at least to me) is the process....doing the research and understanding what you are getting for your dollars. i avoided the 'little white lies' thread for a while, as it just left a bad taste in my mouth. are some (or even most) of the points made in the thread valid? absolutely. but the whole spirit of the discussion was so negative that i just couldn't get behind it. more than anything, i feel like we are getting a little spoiled as buyers of replica watches. let's take the b&r for example. getting a 1:1 cosmetic copy of the genuine (regardless of the movement type) for any watch is a feat that some of us would have been drooling over a year or so ago. these days the rep world has gotten more and more accurate, so we are expecting a lot more out of our dealers & watches. with folks like joshua, trusty, jay & angus starting to realize that people will pay for 1:1 quality reps (eg. the bell & ross, RT dream watch forum, big bang & breitling chronomat evolution, respectively), our standards and expectations are continually rising. being frustrated with crystals being advertised as synthetic sapphire only to find out that they are actually mineral crystal is understandable. but let's give the dealers some credit -- these instances are few and far between. how many times have you asked questions about various reps, only to have the dealers steer you clear of the problematic or less than impressive reps? our dealers are helping us own watches in quantities and qualities that would mean bigtime dollars if we were shopping at our local AD. so for me, i'd like to thank joshua, trusty and all of the trusted dealers here for supplying some truly exciting replicas to this community. the members of this board are typically repeat buyers that would like to think we are an important part of the dealers' overall business. i think so long as the dealers continue to have access to and develop quality products, we will continue to be their biggest fans. in the end, i think that it is in everyone's best interest that the dealers here communicate clearly and represent their products in the most accurate way possible -- this will enable the dealers to continue to develop and supply great reps (not to mention have a life outside of the boards) instead of answering our unending questions about crystals, movements, luminous qualities, etc. enough said -- it is time to go to bed. sorry for the long post. deltatahoe

Anyone Else Have A "tweener" Wrist For A Strap
deltatahoe replied to crystalcranium's topic in General Discussion
i think everyone has this problem to some extent...it can be a bit nerve-racking when spending $100+ on a nice strap. the best thing i've found (particularly with pam straps) is to find one strap that you like the way it fits and measure several distances (see my attached picture), and if the strap you are ordering has matching distances and a similar thickness, it should fit the same (kind of common sense, but a good way to think about it)... -

@devedander, this is not good news; sorry to hear it man. i hope this is not a new trend for watches coming through san francisco customs. what kind of documentation did they provide regarding why they are making you pay $121 to get your goods? sounds kind of arbitrary to me. deltatahoe

Breitling Chrono Avenger. Advice From The Experts Please
deltatahoe replied to Del_RFC's topic in The Breitling Area
you're welcome -- i'm glad i was able to be helpful. the amount of information on these boards is staggering; i've been at it for about nine months and still feel like a noobie. but i'm starting to find my find myself being able to contribute here and there to answer a question or two, which is fun. i'm sure you'll find yourself in a similar position soon enough. have fun, and hold onto your wallet -- it will be a wild ride. deltatahoe -
wow. not much else to say but amazing collection. one quick question though -- i've never seen any BOB alligator straps that look as nice as the BOB gen brown alligator on your pam 036. did you pick that up a while ago in a special offering of sorts? thanks, dt

@angus, any update and/or pictures of the white dial version? thanks, dt -
BOB straps are sold here on this forum (see the dealer section here and the post regarding the sportivo straps here). send them a PM and they will likely give you a deal on both a strap and an OEM-style polished buckle. dt
