It's not only too high... the bevelled side is not correct and the etched crown is way too visible!
If you can get a correct crystal it would open the option of drilling lugholes and have a proper pre-2004 SD
Cool picture from TZ Freddie... it looks like a 3th generation dial as the "submariner 2000" has smaller font. This is all documenten on one of the DRSD reference sites.
PS. did anyone hear from the dealers like Angus or Joshua about this model? I am really curious as this one is high on my wishlist ... and i hope to hear the correct info from you guys as our dealers are incredibly busy these days...
Since it's the double red it should have this caseback so that's correct
I hope Paso can get us just the caseback for all our great white's that have a DRSD caseback.
I'd also be highly interested!! Since i already have a Great White... i now only need a correct caseback.
You guys think Paso also sells the caseback as sparepart?
There used to be a cheaper version... not as good as the $250+ rep but my father is more than happy with it and some of his friends eyeball his wrist all the time when he is wearing that nice IWC They all have no clue and just know the name (IWC) and that it should have a sweephand... so he loves it.
I actually offered him to wear my Ingenieur (the expensive one) so his might be available if he agrees. It has a dark blue dial, steel is matte and has somesort of titanium look and it has of course a chinese movement. Let me know if you're interested...
And yet again someone who reads an old review
Excellent review SD4000 After my initial thoughts about the Expl.I went away instantly when i had a genuine in my hands last summer i knew i wanted one. After reading this great review i know i can easily buy a replica version without doing too many mods
Thanx!
@ciborgman... too difficult for me to attach new feet, thanx for the thought though.
@Offshore... merci
@Chieftang... i use an old sub spacer ring that i dremelled to the correct size, but glueing the dial to that seems so permanent
@FxrAndy... yes please
The dial of the transitional 1665 is correct and the triple6 is also correct... and has great patina!
@Jojo... excellent!!! A triple 6 is THE most beautiful SD for me. I love my own 1665 great white but the triple 6 has the sapphire crystal and tritium markers in the modern case which i prefer above any other watch
Finally a YM case where the crown is at the correct height! Angus... i think we have a winner here and this is the new case. The dial looks also much better than the Noob dial as the rolex print and coronet are placed better, the 12 o clock marker comes closer to the coronet which is correct as well.
Superb
Now i will need to like a YM... maybe we can also finally get a seriously good SD and Sub now
Congrats BT! Very nice watch and as Stephane said... forgotten watches like this Epl-II should get more attention... so thanx for reminding us :thumbsup:
Do get some tudor hands on the bay... this beauty deserves some luminous hands to match that perfect dial.
Sorry to read your post Ziggy, but i can understand it completely. Too many trolls trying to earn a buck while they have absolutely no skills at all. I will miss... and actually already missed your posts like you used to to. I guess 2007 wasn't a great year when it comes to sharing the joy of watches and trying to strive for perfection.
Personally i am also disappointed when it comes to reviews... for me this is also a huge part in enjoying the rep scene. Most reviews go skin deep and the only comment is "wow... nice" ... not enough good comparrisons IMHO.
Very well said Kruzer!
