  1. Stephane, the photos of your matte dial is simply a meters first variation. I think the meters first is prized higher by some collectors (at least on some models). Here is an example: http://forums.watchnet.com/index.php?t=tre...35722&rid=0 The second dial is the transitional WG surrounds T-dial. The dial was used on the latter 5513s. I have one of the WG T-dials but not sure what to do with it just yet. I might transform my MBW 1680 and install the T-19 which is also sitting in the parts box.
  2. Euno, what a watch! You're very fortunate to have such a piece which just happens to be my fave vintage rollie. Great photos! Stephane, you can build one from an MBW 1680 case which already has the 5513 markings. The case will be thicker than OEM but it would be a stunner. The expensive part will be sourcing the OEM dial which would cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $500 for a quality example. The T-19 crystal is easy enough to source but the T-19 superdome on Euno's is very difficult to find and highly prized by collectors...which means expensive.
  3. Trust me....you'll end up getting both. Personally I prefer the white 1665 but the 1680 is one beautiful watch as well. The 1665 with a T-39 superdome is stunning but the 1680 with a gen T-127 is also a rare and very distinctive vintage piece and has a slimmer profile.
  4. Tutima, good to see you. Hope all is fantastic! Great watches and very nice group shot. The IWC chronos are starting to grow on me....very, very nice!
  5. Today, a little red....... a Ubi & Palp production.
  6. Big hunk of iron today.
  7. The Yamaha is one smart looking bike! Reasonably priced as well! I'm no street bike expert but have had the opportunity to take a couple of Hogs for a test drive....I found them to be too darn heavy. Of course, this is coming from someone that raced moto-cross a few moons where weight is your enemy.
  8. Congratulations to one great member. That one hell of an awesome watch! You can beat those beautiful matte T-dials and tall acrylic crystals of these vintage beauties. Darn good investment as well. Enjoy!
  9. What can I say, I'm a watch addict and enjoy collecting them both. The gens that I have managed to collect over time have a vintage flavor... T-dials and only one has sapphire. They range from Heuer, Longines, Tudor, Rlx and JLC. I'm a sucker for vintage watches and wouldn't mind adding a 60's Heuer Autavia to the mix. With reps, my interest lies with vintages that can be improved by installing OEM parts. I have little interest collecting most of the modern models (gen or otherwise) but do enjoy reading about them. I have 7, most of which are MBWs & 2893-2 Pams. Reps have taught me far more about this hobby than I could have ever imagined. The folks here are also terrific and have made good friends along the way....priceless.
  10. That is a beauty & terrific work. The OEM dial makes a huge difference! I've though about doing this to my old TW but just can't get myself to alter an OEM dial. Enjoy!
  11. Been wearing this one quite a bit after finally getting the guts to mod the case/bracelet and installing the OEM bars.
  12. The best way to increase the crystal height is to remove the insert and peel off the double sided tape (soak the bezel & insert in warm soapy water for around and hour and the insert should come off easily). You can also sand down the insert a bit and reinstall with 5 minute epoxy or similar. The TW insert is shallow so any mass you can remove from the back of the insert helps. The bezel should click into place and that is a far as it will go. I'm not sure you can do much to adjust this. The O ring is necessary to keep moisture out of the case. Contact the seller and perhaps he can send one your way. Just stay away from water until one is installed. Cheers!
  13. My fave vintage.
  14. Congratulations, Nanuq! What a beauty! Is this the SD you mentioned was in the works many months ago? You may have found a worthy candidate for your T-39 superdome. Enjoy!
  15. A few shots of the T-39 installed before case work was performed. This was the initial mod & by far the most worthwhile. The distortions caused by this crystal can be really something else depending on lighting and angle.
  16. Probably rotate between this pair. Have a fun & safe Memorial weekend!
  17. The only 5513 available is the "guilt" dial which IMO, it is not exactly MBW's best effort. I was also hoping for an accurate matte dial 5513. The sport no-dates use the 1680 case ( a bit thick for the 5512/3) so the markings should be identical..... the usual Polex and 5513 markings. There is also the 5514 (no sure if any longer available) which uses the 1665 case. Others would be the non-cg Bond 6538 and Milgauss.
  18. They are close and both far better than the MBW which is too narrow. For $15 shipped, it's difficult to go wrong. Not to change the subject but that is one terrific date wheel on your RR. Awesome! Very nicely finished dials as well. I have the MBW 5514 which is bone stock outside of the insert...a vintage hollow mid-links bracelet will be arriving soon & lug holes to be dilled in short order.
  19. This minute hand looks to be more accurate than the standard MBW. Should fit the ETA 28xx variety. These are gold but I suspect Clark also carries the silver. http://cgi.ebay.com/Hands-ETA-2824-yellow-...bayphotohosting
  20. Awesome watch and terrific dial work by Mr. The Zigmeister! I may have to so the same to mine once I get my hands on the gen crown. The honey croc strap looks great on your GMT. Is it OEM?
  21. feddy, I think you're right.....it may be worth a try. The price is right and I can't see any way it could make things worse or damage the case back.
  22. Mickey Padge did a write up on this insert. Apparently, very good quality, snaps in and a gen pearl will fit nicely. http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...mp;#entry156670
  23. I've thought about using a rubber pointy rotary plolishing bit to deepen & widen the standard MBW engraving. It should be a step in the right direction with polishing paste. There are a few different versions: http://www.widgetsupply.com/page/WS/PROD/d...cylinder/D-GU08 http://www.widgetsupply.com/page/WS/PROD/d...cylinder/D-DY04 http://www.toolsforless.com/product/2848.html Any thoughts?
  24. ETA 7753 is an excellent movement and it is used in the gen. It is also getting difficult to independently source. Budget aside, the 7753 is definitely the pick of the litter. Keep in mind that with the Asian 7750, a proper service will probably required and that will set you back an additional $200, plus. This will close the gap in the price difference.
