  1. Justin, Got the riveted bracelet...love it. Thanks for the speedy service. I drilled the connecting link and am using 2mm spring bars. Now my 1016 is almost identical to yours. Especially since it is your case with your drilling and your (yet another) banged out bezel. I need a better dial. I'll post pics when I have time. I appreciate your work and service to the community. Mike
  2. I have one that I put a Clark on, but it didn't sound like yours. The crystal that came on it fit tightly over the crystal seat and then the retainer pressed on just like gen. When I put the Clark on it it was just the same. There was no extra piece of plastic and it needed no custom ring. If the case is the same as it was eight months ago it sounds like you do not have the proper crystal. Also, in the rep world, you cannot usually mix and match bezel rings with retaining rings. It usually has to be a set, unless it is a true Rolex replacement case.
  3. Best story on the forum today! I want to adapt a 2671 to a gen lady sized case. Just haven't begun yet.
  4. Where do you get the old style DW. Is it round topped threes or flat topped? I have two DJs (16013 and 16014) that have modern DWOs in them and it drives me nuts. It should have open 6s and 9s and round topped threes. Can't find them. Love the 16800 in the noob case. Thanks for that...
  5. Wow...I don't suppose any of you have ever heard of Harry S. Truman. Next Wednesday I will receive my third Social Security deposit. I may be the oldest guy here.
  6. An ETA 2846 is the same specs, size wise, as the 2836. For the Yuki case you would need a #2 enlargement ring from rafflestime.com. The Yuki case is a gen replacement, not a rep case.
  7. Hey...iRU, that was just my .02, you know...what I would do. For many members the quest is the prize and not the watch. Even though you already have some gen parts, you still have to take into account the value of each. I think that by the time you have that gen case and bracelet you will have more than 5 - 7K invested.
  8. Just my .02. Personally, I would not invest a 3135 movement in a case that is less than accurate. I would go with the Sean case. More money but worth it. The TC case may be a "great value"...I believe that it is, but it is a great value if you are using an ETA movement or an SA3135. If I was intending to use a genuine 3135 movement I would just purchase a gen sub off of the Bay and never have to worry about all those little things that drive me crazy and you know what I mean....little things that you know aren't quite right. You're going to have those. When a noob asks, "who makes the best sub?" That's an easy question for me...Rolex does.
  9. It's really odd that both movements fit in this case, as the movements are not the same. I know the case is "special", but it surely is not that special...it is steel.
  10. I appreciate you saying this. I have pics that I grabbed from the bay of 5513s with 4 different looks of CGs, from long and pointy to short and semi-stubby. I don't think any are quite as stubby as the Josh case, but some are almost as stubby. I wear my modded 5513 every day with no worries.
  11. I did exactly the same project, using JMB's case and bezel. I purchased the 455B's for the 2mm springbars from WSO. I had to take the dreml to them a good bit to make them fit the case. They are perfect once you spend the time to mil them down. They were too long, not too wide (width is perfect). The springbars would not reach to the holes.
  12. Again...I emailed Reg last week and he said, "Getting things out of the MBK and (the dealers name deleted) unwillingness to sell parts just makes it not worth the trouble."
  13. I contacted Reg last week to see if he could source me one and his assessment is that dealing with MBK and the supplier is "not worth the trouble."
  14. Coronet on the clasp is a tell.
  15. My 1601 says 1570 on the movement.
  16. Sean's caseset is great...best bezel of them all. $460 and incl. full case, crystal, crown, dial, hands and bracelet. Everthing but the movement.
  17. I have a MBK/MBW sub w/Noob dial and hands, Clark crystal and gen crown and tube. Has a sweet running Swiss ETA movement. I have re-worked the CGs and replaced the pearl. I have on my want list a gen insert. Can one of you MBW lovers tell me...how does this stack up against these new cases. (I realize that the TW Best is not that new.) I look at these cases and wonder..."should I?" (Even have sent TC two PMs over the last two weeks and have prices from Bert and Sean.) But I think this old watch still holds her own.
  18. It would be great to build a DJ with the CA 3135 movement.
  19. You could be correct, but if you go to etaswiss.net and then Rolex, then 16610 case set, then click on 16610 case set and it shows the movement alone. Another poster on this forum stated that he purchased the movement from Sean.
  20. Right...I did mean CANT. Thanks.
