  1. Amen, JoeyB! It all depends on how you act. Justin, you must be movin' on, as well. Or else you learned those machining skills at a young age.
  2. That's like asking, "How long is a piece of rope."
  3. I'm with JoeyB except that he, apparently, can remember 56 better than I. For me that was 14 years and many watches ago. When I first joined this forum in '09 (I think), it was my impression that most of the members were young guys and gals, but I have come to realize that there are some of us that are older. I wonder how many members, active on this board, are over...say...60 years old. It means something to this strange hobby, as there are some of us who could buy anything he/she wants, but still we enjoy this hobby. My wife has asked, why don't you sell these and buy a real Rolex. My answer is "Where's the fun in that?"
  4. "If you only have one watch and it either breaks or you sell it; then not having a watch, seems as though you don't have enough watches."
  5. If you are planning to use that dial that comes with the DG2813 the feet won't fir the ETA movement. If you get the A2836 the dial feet will work with the 2846. This is a big thing if you've never glue-mounted a dial. It's a process...to say the least.
  6. I know...I told him in my message that if it is wrong, he can't sell it on eBay. I do not know how to let the eBay cops know.
  7. Wonder what's up with this watch. I sent him a message that there were several things wrong with his listing. I told him that there is no "gold plated Rolex Datejust." I don't know what the "automatic/swiss" movement would be. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mens-Rolex-36mm-Yellow-Gold-Plated-Datejust-Jubilee-Watch-w-2-0ct-Diamonds-/161940290054?
  8. Did you see the FG Paul Newman that someone brought to the Antique Roadshow on PBS this week. He had the original sales slip. $535.00. The appraiser priced it at $100K. The man almost had an MI. WOW! What an investment.
  9. I've drilled them larger, with a hand drill, if a smaller hole already exists. Never started a hole with a hand drill. I tried to find one of those presses in which you mount your hand drill, but Sears doesn't sell them anymore and I didn't look farther.
  10. Hey...Auto, everyone in Tennessee know what "wallered" means. It can mean anything from laying around all day to "wallering" out a hole in a watch case. I've done both. Drilling a lug hole causes me no anxiety whatsoever. I get Justin to do it.
  11. Sorry...I meant MyManMatt. He's great to do business with and ships very quickly.
  12. PM MyManMike and do it quickly. Especially is you have 16013, 14, etc. He has the DWOs with open 6s and 9s and they are perfect...centered vertically and horizontally.
  13. The 93150 bracelet still has the "flat" connector link next to the case. It is not a curved one-piece like we want. That case back really is a bubble back...wow. Never seen anything like it. I like the CGs though. I have one of the old ones...never wear it. OP...don't forget: a 40-year-old watch would not have any lume. (I'd have to have it lumed as well.)
  14. Thanks! That's what I thought. This 1655 had a strange objective. It was made for those who worked underground, in caves, mines, etc. for long periods of time. It was so designed that one could, simply know if it was night or day outside. I have one with a DG3804B movement and found that you can, very easily, slip a razor blade under one of the little setting gears and pop it off, disabling he GMT hand setting feature.
  15. Did the early 1655s have a crown-adjustable GMT hand? Thanks!
  16. Did the early 1655s have a crown-adjustable GMT hand? Thanks!
  17. Thanks, guys! I appreciate the input. I think I'll stay with the one I have for now. I like my MBK sub. Lugs drilled, gen crown and tube, TC SL dial and hands and V3 bracelt with V2 clasp. Pretty happy with it.
  18. Just wondering... Does anyone have experience with the Wholesale Outlet 16610 bezel assembly? Specifically, is it better than the old MBK sub bezel?
  19. There should be an award for that lume shot. It is amazing.
  20. Both of the twins are linen, but I have never caught a good pic. I have pics of them separately but not together. This was before I got proper date wheels for them.
  21. Hey, Josh...I'll buy from you anytime...and have, many times. Excellent dealer. Trust him.
  22. I love my 111 but after replacing the crown with a proper "thin-walled" crown and replacing the mm screw with a proper screw...at the end of the day, I do not know anyone who even knows what a Panerai is. I think we all find this to be truth when we really think about it. I find myself being engrossed in the community here and discussing all the mods and ins and outs, but when I enter a moment of sanity; my friends and associates are not watch people. They ride horses, play golf, build RC models, work, work, work, etc. I could take off my 111 and hand it to anyone I know and they would only comment..."sure is heavy, isn't it?" Just get the watch that you feel good about and then "try" to enjoy wearing the watch. After all...my watches are just for me and no one else.
