So I figured I'd kick us off for the first time ever, since I'm up in the early hours working. Hope you don't mind me stealing your thunder BT! What a better way to start the week off than with a bright yellow sunrise!
-
Well, if rep makers can't even make a sub right..
-
Yep, you have to sign a paper to say that you will only use it in a case of a real emergency. Which means if you use it without one and the emergency services come you have to pay for the like 8k helicopter that arrives! Niice.

Oh, reading that back TJ I see how I came across. Absolutely no one would be able to distinguish that from the gen at all in every day wear. I was referring to the 'tell' in terms of in our very niche circle People generally only question authenticity if its a Rollie (including gens) or a Navitimer anyway, right?
-
That PO looks gen to me, is it? I'm sure a bunch of people will know -.- edit: Nevermind I see.. the upturned feet on the omega logo. Silly me, need to pay more attention. Beautiful anyway, really does look gen if it wasnt for the tell!

How come people dont use flickr?
-
Sorry to hear about your situation bro but damn, this was funny to read.

Many of these questions can be resolved via the search box. I will say one thing; if you don't want to be the "guy with the fake rolex". Buy a GEN!! If these people around you are likely to put their gens side by side with your rep.. Don't expect it to look exactly the same is what I would say - since that seems to be the situation you are heading in the direction of! The SS versions will look more gen than any with gold on, because the gold is plated. Wm9 is Watchmaker9, you can search for his site easily, any neg stuff is likely to be from a long time ago. His reputation as I understand it was not so great at one point but is now generally held to be offering one of the 'best' products on the market. I, and a number of other members on this forum would suggest purchasing WM9 products through BK, whose reputation is.. well.. extremely good as a huge understatement. The Noobmariner is sold by more than 1 dealer and MBK is a now faux-nickname given to a selection of products. The whole MBK nickname has a number of topics dedicated to explaining exactly where the term comes from, what it means and what it means *today*. Search for it, research, and welcome to the board.

GAH! I got so excited when I saw this topic.. and its just a revived old one.. *sad.

Nice pics bro, such a nice watch to photograph. Natural lighting, particularly outside will always be pretty hard to work with. I'm sure the shooting will become alot more interesting the deeper you get into it. As it seems digital photography may be a new thing for you - it's also interesting to learn about post processing which will make the shots all the more attractive. My favourite pic of the set is the last one, beautiful surface texture and colour contrast and good use of macro photography function!

I think using a 'cheap watch shop' will be fine. You might even want to tell them its a rep and ask them if they will work on it. Absolutely, definately not the best idea to leave a rep with the AD at all..! edit: Forgot to say, nice watches and good choices!
-
This is an absolutely beautiful collection with some of the best pieces chosen. All you need now is a nice strapped dress watch with roundish lines (IWC Porto/Portu, Aqua Terra?) And a nice Breitling, (Yellow Seawolf?, Blue SFSO?) and you'd be 100% imo How are you finding the GMT2? The 111 is an interesting piece because many of our members have really nice examples except it seems they were all purchased 'long ago'. Newer 111's of quality are more difficult to attain it may seem.

100 million percent Rolex Submariner, talked about this the other night

Hey AD, nice Sub btw. Thankyou SO SO much for a good picture of the pearl on the WM9. Its pretty good and at least it glows.. I always think the gen looks slightly recessed I guess the pearl is just too hard to get right for the repmakers!? Everything else looks absolutely brilliant though. God, I hope the LV I've got on order is as well replicated.

Wow! Chief, that looks like a GEN to me! Like the older version of RobbieG's with the same dial, thats soooooo nice.
-
I will just add to this thread that you need to upgrade to 'Supporter' to sell things on this forum, before you get a scolding by the admin team -.-
-
Wow, I wasn't aware that it had the same dial effect as the gen! I thought one of the flaws was that it had a flat dial. Thats amazing! Very nice.
-
WOW Ronin!.. Wow... Whats the story behind this one? New?
-
Does the rep have like a concentric blue dial like the gen? Anyone got any close pics?
-
I'm afraid I didn't buy this watch directly so I cannot help any further! I suggest you refer to Lanikais post about the same watch where he states that it is a CREAM dial, the dealers pictures look too different to the actual watch I seem to have, in the examples you posted - the white seems more similar but Lani states it is a Cream in his review. http://www.rwg.cc/members/IWC-Portofino-Ch...-Cr-t70649.html Sorry I'm unable to help you any further, my version seems to have a 'silvery' dial as per the gen (looks very much like this): GEN:

1. Pumping Iron 2. Commando 3. Predator Honorable mentions: Conan, Red Sonya, Kindergarten Cop & Hercules in New York

Here ya go then. My wrist size is a fairly small 6.5", I do have fairly bigger upper arms but I have no problem wearing this OR my Seawolf to be honest! Get one! You won't regret it. Thickness:

Wow, topic revival! As per my picture above, I dont think it really wears much bigger than a sub! Give me a couple of mins and I'll take some more pictures for you. As for the colour - maybe you should send Chris the pics I've taken of mine, give him a better idea of what you are looking for. My rep appears silver like the gen, but its difficult to choose from the pics on the dealers websites because I'm guessing they arent very accurate. The white looks too white!
-
Well explained BT, I make the mistake of expecting all WIS to appreciate all timepieces for what they are. I suppose thats why I stay off gen forums myself and would even if I had a full collection of gens. I suppose its also touches again on the fact that I wear the watches I have in my collection because I like watches and because they mean something to me, rather than trying to impress other people. Normal folk aren't gonna notice a watch anyway, right?
-
I just don't see it as you being 'outed' so much. I suppose your focus was that this may be an illegal activity rather than embaressement of rep involvement, and thats fair enough. As a side note; I'm glad this will dissuade you from posting anywhere else. How dare you deprive us of your posts?! You know how much we love them! I hope you have learned your LESSON!
