Now, not having owned a gen and having not checked this out myself, I have noticed day to day when trying to read from the date mag that generally I have to look at it and shift my wrist around abit till I can see it clearly because of the lights reflecting off it. Does a gen date mag have AR on it? and does anyone have any before/after date mag AR pics or anyone have any info about it? Maybe its how its supposed to be and how it is on gens also, except I just figured since it was a little difficult sometimes, that gens probably have a way around this (perfection and all that..) Notice the mag is even reflecting light at the top in this picture

The macro shots show every single detail in the text printing etc, and its truely unbelievable how crisp it is compared to other brands. Robbie did you see this?

And the opposite is? REAL WATCHES ARE FOR REAL PEOPLE. Yes, I bet that this campaign is highly backed by the luxury watch brands (no names mentioned). Just the type of insecure material-driven image character types they like to pray on. I'm sorry in advance for making this generalisation; but looking at the typical 'types' of people on 'Gen forums' makes me angry because of their small interest in anything but showing off their status. The people on this forum have alot more passion and interest in timepieces and watchmaking than most of them ever seem to have. It makes me feel like replica buying is thus the perfect justification of distancing yourself from a pretentious image while gaining the enjoyment of the interest at the same time. Honestly I know people that own gens purely as status symbols, and that angers me - infact thinking about the individual in mind, I'd love to ask him what he thinks the reasons are that it says Oyster perpectual on the face of his watch. Sorry, did I began to rant?

The finish on these UN watches is ridiculous..

I'm surprised about how unimportant people think the etched crown is on the crystal, I would have thought this was one of the very important things to have (and have correct) in a rep?

The other rolex video about 904L almost makes me emotional for some reason..

Mine would be BlackSteel, IWC Portofino chrono, DSSD. Maybe they'll offer some deals since its CNY !

Don't Buy Replica Watches...They Stink...
ammandel replied to Toadtorrent's topic in General Discussion
This is great for us, makes the 'mainstream' think that replicas are outdated, tacky, unreliable and hold no value. Gives all the more value to our reps which defy all of the above points, bravo. -
I'm not sure how to respond to this! It made me giggle a bit.. and I'm not even sure whether to feel guilty about that!

Lani I am beginning to see why its never sunny here in England. All things in the universe must balance out and as such you have all of the sun that we don't Beautiful photos & watches guys, well.. you know what they say - if you cant beat em.. Try something else?

I like it alot, very inventive and alot like some of the work I have to do; a spin I'd put on your slogan would be to make it a little less complicated: i.e. Worn at the bottom, worn at the top, or To rid of the repetition of the word worn.. Made for the bottom, worn at the top. Either way very cool and love the photography. Would love to get some of the pictures in a bigger size for desktop wallpapers!

Thanks Didn't know whether the swiss made ticks made a different, I guess 3 smaller ticks beneath 'swiss made' is the new way of doing it.
-
Was browsing some pics on flickr and came across this image which was actually made an "Explore" (featured image if you will). Interested to know if it is infact a rep, and if so why? Do the 5 ticks at the bottom by "swiss made" give it away or are there gen versions with 5 ticks instead of 3?

My first wristie ever, courtesy of recent business with member erwinner on the boards! Thanks erwinner!

Hi all, just thought I'd share with you a watch I have - a totally fantasy navitimer I'm sure - I like it for some reason (better than any gen models of the navitimer) I was just wondering whether anyone would have any information what so ever about this blatently rep watch since I didn't buy it first hand - hope this at least interests a couple of you!
-
Thats an interesting way to look at it jkerouac, like rep collecting is just 'practicing til' the big buy'?

Hi there, I'm a new forum member and some of you might have seen a couple of my inputs around, just thought I'd share an experience that I had today.. So, I've been reading rwg for many too many hours over the past week and a half or so, when I first came to the forum my interest for watches was high but my knowledge and brand awareness low, I knew kinda what brands were the big ones and which weren't and I had my views on Rolex (which started out as quite negative have now been completely changed by the enthusiasts on this board! I seem to be growing a large desire to purchase one - which is the first sign!) Today I go to the 'mall'/shopping center near me and for the first time I look at the watches in all the high end jewellers and AD's and actually know what things are! "Ohh the super avenger, ohh the planet ocean with the orange strap!" [excitement] Usually the windows full of watches become a torrential jargon of random shineys but no, not today! Today I know exactly what I'm looking at! One thing that did surprise me, since I've never obviously paid so much attention to the watches before, HOW TINY ARE THEY!? I suppose I became so accustomed to blown up pictures looking for inperfections on this board, that today when I saw all the models (like the Super Avenger in particular which people call huge) I came to the realisation the actual time pieces look tiny! I didnt get any of the watches out and try them on although I should have particularly with the super avenger but AD retail salesmen/women are intimidating.. (kinda) I wonder if anyone has had similar experiences with sizes of watches on the pictures on here then seeing the actual piece in person? I will add 1 thing; theres something sad about seeing these beautiful watches on display in the window not ticking, I think they should all be started so you can see their movement. Anyone agree?
