To add: I think if I had a NEW gen daytona, I'd have a sapphire case back put on it. Daytona's movement is sexy

All I can say is wow... Nice pictures and I can't even imagine how you feel..

So heres a question; why arent the really good reps like we have access to available there at the markets? Surely these watches are made in 1000s, so where is the main chunk going to? Random internet buyers? Me think not !

Wow! Seriously nice pics everyone. I'm starting to think theres something really novel about this camphone wristies idea, especially as we can begin to take wristie pics 'on location' as it were. b16, nice pic as always bro. Sql out of interest which phone did you take this pic with? Its extremely clear! CF, nice pic and watch, you guys representing the SMPs in style armin, your pics have an awesome 'shine' about them and striking contrast, the 1st pic (the wristie) is very nice, I see no problems with it at all. Beautiful colours and nice effects. A reason your finding some of your other images are not as clear as you'd like are due to the angles you're choosing. You're choosing some angles that can be difficult to work with and this is focussing more light into the lens creating background noise. Sometimes you will find with a slight movement and slight change in the angle you are working with may just take the reflecting excess light from bouncing back into the lens and will cut down the noise and distortion greatly. When your taking a shot, take a number of them when you've decided the picture you want to create, then import them all onto your computer and the best ones from the shoot will become evident, some will have more noise than others - this is just one of the elements us camera photographers have to work with with our limited range of settings Keep taking pictures though, they are awesome - and nice watch to boot

rhack, those pictures are incredible! I love the one with a Parker pen because it reminds me that the Breitling logo on the Crown and the Parker Pen logo on the clicker are so similar! Thats awesome implicit detail. Me likey!

Our 2nd Camera Phone Wristie Post em if you got em gang! Wednesday: One of my favourites, this rep feels BETTER, and I'm not joking. Than the gen Breitling Crosswind my friend has, and better than a 45mm Planet Ocean I handled in an AD. Crown unscrews and winds like butter, bezel click is perfectly accurate. Pearl looks 100% to gen with a 2 part construction. Need I go on!? This is much better than the SFSO imo.

Yay! People are starting to spread the word! As above, bracelets on Rolex are made of 316L bar the deepsea and another couple of the new models. Any differences in 'shine' are to do with finishing and polishing methods. Further reading: Read my previous finds on 904L

Quite simply for me: I buy reps because I like nice watches, but don't have the money to buy all the gens instead. With regards to your example; we're still awaiting an actual good LV rep so the LV will always fall short. The "grade of steel" talk is something I really got interested in discussing and finding out about a while back and obsessed over it. Only to find that the steel used in Rolex bracelets is 316L (bar the deepsea), so you're telling me you're going to notice colour differences in the case? which is going to be mostly polished parts anyway.. Any 'more shiney' look is no doubt due to Rolex's extremely superior polishing techniques which comes from using expertise and expensive equiptment. Many people have said that using a couple of cleaning techniques they've literally had black dirt etc "pouring out of the bracelets". Keep buying what you like, make smart choices and enjoy the hobby! In all honesty if you showed a gen LV to your friend he would have made some kind of comment about its authenticity anyway.. its a Rolex right?

Hate to say I told you so... ..but I told you so! andddddd I stand by my words about you wanting a gen within the next year I've come to terms with the fact that Rolex is like the flagship of self indulgence in material possessions.. and I don't mind at all. ps; Its still new to you, so I'd suggest keeping it on the metal for a month or so. After that 100000% recommend that you get a black 20mm Nato from Timefactors and shove the sub on it. I never even thought the NATO look was that great in pictures on the forums (no offense guys), I just liked the idea of changing the strap from the metal which can be uncomfortable from time to time... Simply put; as soon as you get on on your wrist its like.. Everything just falls into place.. It really brings out the watch head where as a sub would usually fall into the background, but moreso.. Its the ultimate transformation for the sub in turning it into a real; "Ive got stuff to do today" watch, turning it into a real rugged, reliable tool. I wish mine had superlume..! I'm starting to consider the sub date gen more now than ever. Still got my eye on the GMT IIc though Just trust me ok!? One Brit to another

Well; I assumed this was a gen with the pics & box! Upon further inspection still can't really decide with the angles of the pics; (this is the whole point of our hobby I guess!) If it was a rep I'd say: Insert could look a little more recessed, end links could look slightly tighter, crown threading could look a little cleaner.. but on the flipside: Cg's look nice, dial looks clean, cg's and bezel assembly & teeth look nicely polished and machined, and it looks to my eyes like the famous By-Tor 'Gen' feature (the indented lip beneath the crystal line) is there, indicating a gen crystal assembly or a WM9 casing. Pearls are really difficult to see in pictures, because even a gen pearl with harsh lighting and a straight on shot from a high end camera look 'zittish' because of the nature of the pearl (a domed but recessed blob of lume, covered with a domed clear layer of epoxy/clear substance). Go on, put me out of my misery and tell me. My comments were made about my yearning for the day I get to my first Rolex gen (a brand I disliked when I first signed up to this forum. *hint hint b16a2*)

Cool idea, I got a feeling though that the admins will feel like this would open up a port for some kind of controversy and drama which the forum could do without, there would have to be enough subscribers each time also to satisfy the variable cost of the rep purchase also, which would cause issues for consistancy in payment. While a good idea in theory, and while I'd be up for participating; in my opinion I think its best just to leave it to the raffles and the user generated content which makes up the lifeblood of this hobby. Quick honorable mention to all the people that take the plunge for us in buying the reps first and reviewing them; By-Tor, Lani (Who must have stimulated sales for so many pieces that they should be paying him marketing revenue), Samurai, Noel, b16a2 and everyone else thats really making a good contribution!

Asking for photos of the watch you want to buy...

Sounds lame, Narikaa offers some incredible products at a low price point and seems to have a flawless customer service record, go figure. -
Lucky lucky guy, I long for the day I enjoy the same moment!

BK; amazing.. you make it difficult for any other dealer with this level of care and service!

Been dying to post on this. As soon as I saw this post on here and started reading it very slowly I thought to myself: "You simply wont "get it" at first". Speaking from experience as I remember I came to this forum not knowing anything about Rolex apart from the fact that I myself didn't like them.. I read that comment about you not being transformed by the WM9 and still laughed to myself as I thought it was only a matter of time before you liked it. Only to read further down the comments where I see your opinions changing in a matter of hours. In my opinions (and I'm letting you into a secret), if anything it is only a matter of time before you begin to like it more than your Omegas. It's the brand and the image, you've said things about Rolex before, but Rolex are synonomous to an exhalted level with luxury goods (and watches) and unparallel in their iconography. There is nothing that can rival it, and theres a reason its the most imitated and copied brand, everyone wants a piece of this action. This is the unavoidable truth and the fact about Rolex; that I simply don't think there is another watch brand like it, your journey has just begun. If this doesnt lead to you searching for a Gen Rolex within the next year; I'll come down there personally and buy you 5 pints or the poison of your choice. edit to add: I'll buy this off you at any time. Just let me know.

Wow! I sure hope they rep this

Congrats on yet another gen! There'll be an unofficial club for these SMP owners soon!

Loaded up the page this morning, and found this: http://www.watchmaker9.tv/products/ROLEX3135-MOVEMENT.htm $1,785 sounds like a pretty good price, my brain can barely fathom a WM9 YM or 16610 with a gen movement also.. you could probably send it in for a real service.. haha! Don't know how many they have or what they are planning to do with this offering, but it seems pretty serious! edit; Upon reflection, maybe this should be in the Rolex section.. Sorry mods.

Hahahahaha.. This made me laugh out loud big time. Perhaps i'll have the rehaut engraving ROLEXROLEXROLEXROLEX tattoo'd around my forehead like a headband.
-
Although they look great; I can't help but think those diver UN's with crap lume will be abit lame though, given that lume is one of the main features of the watch.. I'd say.
-
I get a feeling this will change one day soon. That's all I'm saying
