Are you blue? What is your favorite blue dialed watch
ammandel replied to kronos twin's topic in General Discussion
Dont own either but also like the Omega Seamaster Chronograph like Lani's.. I'm probably one of the few to say this; but I actually like the WG Blue Sub alot. Of course its shouty, who wants understatement from a 20k piece of jewellery anyway?! -
Rolex polishing methods are of course superior to that of reps, most people find after refinishing/cleaning the bracelets of reps alot of 'dirt' or other residues come off. Referring you to my 904L thread just to clarify that Rolex BRACELETS are not 904L but 316, the very same metal as our reps.

If you could own only one Breitling replica... which one & why?
ammandel replied to Javelin's topic in The Breitling Area
Easy, I love my yellow Seawolf. Embodies everything about the Breitling designs of today & there isn't really anything 'understated' about them, so the yellow dial fits perfectly. The only thing I wouldnt like if I paid a couple of grand for the gen is the fact that the bracelet is brushed and not polished as all Breitling bracelets should be! The SA is such a popular watch, but much too large for my liking.. -
Ceramic sub or Milgauss, CeriSub is ahead of its time and a model that will definately be released! Milgauss is just insanely cool, different, shiney, looks high quality.. it's got it all! Hell, just be brave and just click order on that whole basket

Starting to make a real thing of these incredible articles, huh J? I think its a great touch that you use the same presenting format for all of your review pieces too. I think theres a real difference in reading your review of the PO and this watch. You really convey your interest in the bond theme and love of this model and series 100% with this one. I'm not sure theres anything you havn't covered in this review; I'd second that these bracelets are pretty incredible, the omega bracelets definately feel like something of extreme quality for sure. They actually feel smoother than the Breitling bracelets too I've found. I am surprised you've purchased a quartz though, it'll be interesting to reflect on how you feel about this in time! Congrats on your purchase, like always - we say theres nothing like the gen. Can't speak from experience as you know but you convey the experience well enough for me to enjoy it through a 3rd party Thanks again for the great read. P.s. Just how exactly your managing a lume shot of that quality with your N95 I'm not quite sure.

Nice topic L, I'm actually surprised to read a topic about being called out from you. Tis a brave 'mother that tries to call you out, I'm tellin ya. Something must have prompted this post though, for sure! Although I can't imagine being able to say that about any of my pieces, there's little history behind unmodded watches such as mine. "This was 'created lovingly' by young chinese men from a mixture of parts that would offend most swiss watchmakers " I have much knowledge about the watches, sure. But does not modding or trying to get vintage pieces show less enthusiasm for the hobby? I don't know - perhaps it does.

Wow, that's why I'm *not* in the expert division

Suggestions for His & Hers matching watches
ammandel replied to shafto's topic in General Discussion
Ubi's is pretty hard to match really, but I'd suggest silver datejust and lady datejust, gotta be an equally killer combo. -
Hey J, nice work! Easy read and well illustrated as always. Looks like all this is missing is the Cotes de Geneve decoration on the rotor When the factories start doing that.. well.. haha
-
Perhaps the factory are in cahoots with Rolex to sell more Gen GMT IIc's !!! Its a conspiracy! No but really, you're right - there should have been a v2 by now fixing that bloody stupid rehaut engraving at least.. I don't understand how the rehaut engraving looks 'scratchy' and accurate on some of the reps and completely, completely wrong on others..
-
McRae, you think people will notice hand stack issues before they notice clasp stamping/branding ones?! I'm not sure I agree there Of course, on the wrist - then yeah..
-
Funny, I bet you held off posting this topic for a while? I say that because I had exactly the same thoughts about peoples pictures of the GMT IIc rep. I'll be interested to know if anyone has any information on this!
-
I think this is a good decision, contests are generally somewhat about 'ability' so the restriction was going to be somewhat problematic. In the advanced division it is likely that the photographers will be and should be of a high level of skill and ability. Advanced catagory shouldn't just be for people with an expensive camera.. In the other thread people were saying its not about the photos clarity or whatever and more about the concept/idea.. well if it was only about 'concept' of the photograph, there'd be no point me entering cell phone and or novice because I think I could come up with a concept/idea just as good as the 'advanced' guys All around a good decision, nice one L.

This is beautiful man, once again - incredible pictures.. congrats

Hmm, gio - I don't see this model anywhere on Josh's site.. just the silver version with no rehaut engraving and old style bracelet, yours has the new type of functioning bracelet. Do you have a link please?

Rolex GMT Master II Ref 116710 Ceramic "Z" Series
ammandel replied to Pre V's topic in The Rolex Area
This is such a lovely watch, I really think this is my most wanted gen but the problem is that it certainly doesn't have an entry level price! By the way; Hows the lume? Wear it well -
"Watchdog" is out, "The Zigmeister" is in...
ammandel replied to RWG Technical's topic in General Discussion
This is hilarious Zig, but its truely great to have you around in any shape or form -
Hehe Corgi, actually - the green is so strong in that picture because it is a complete lume shot! The dial is actually more of a soft whitish green to contrast with the dark grey/black hands!

I've always thought glow in the dark things were cool, luminosity is a great discovery and incredibly complex in its science and unique to behold. The first photoluminous discoveries were made extremely early by the Japanese upto 1000 years ago, who then passed these 'secrets' down through the generations. It is said that the emporer knew of an elaborate painting of a cow which, during the day 'went to the meadow for eating' and at night would return to the cave walls. This is an early example of the Japanese using phosphorescent pigment to achieve glow in the dark like effects. "Ordered to investigate, one scientist learned that, "the cow was painted with special paints made from shells in the sea." This phenomenon is more easily explained today. The Japanese paints must have contained a phosphorescent pigment to achieve" "In 1908 a luminous paint containing radium was developed and the first luminous watches and clocks were produced in the United States. Similar watches appeared in Switzerland by 1911. In Japan, Seiko started production of watches and clocks in 1895, but didn't produce a luminous watch until 1927 and Seiko's first luminous alarm clock didn't appear until 1931." Luminosity in watches has long long been a love of mine since I was a young boy, fascinated by its abilities and yet left wanting. I quite simply wished (and still do!) there was an ultimate neverending lume, I look forward to the possibility of a day when lume has far surpassed the abilities of even todays standards. My father passed when I was young, and left me nothing of great monetary value as he was not a man of such things. However I have inherited a watch that he wears in many of my cherished memories of him, quite ironically.. it appeals to my love of our prior topic somewhat. I can tell you, after about a 2 second charge with my UV light (as above), this thing glows TRUELY like a torch. I mean.. I can light my way through corridoors with this watch for hours! These completely luminous face watches enjoyed quite a large popularity in the 90s and before I believe, some of you may not have even seen one before! I can see that this style of watch hasn't found any root in any of the big watch names though. A shame really. So what do you think of it? You like the style and design ideas behind it? You think this would take off if say Omega or Breitling made one? As a sidenote; Now that I think about it. If I was to invent a watch, I'd create a watch like this with a completely luminous face, with a button to activate a small UV LED for about 5 seconds. Imagine that..

Erm, I'm literally blown away and slightly speechless by this gio, this is a 5* post. You've taken us through just about every phase there is and compared this piece to all the previous models showing good research. This post is an incredible piece of work, as is your clarity in photography and boldness in your first reluming project. The only piece of information missing really is, where did this piece come from same factory as V4?!? Eurotimez has it and Lani has been talking about how there is a new Deepsea with beveled date window in it, but is THIS it?? Time will tell maybe? Once again gio, thank you so much for this post.. This had everything, bravo.

Wow! This is incredible. Nice one gioarmani for sharing with us. Id never trust these places normally but if you say the quality is good I believe you. Infact - you're making me consider the LV bag that you use for photog

Im starting think the crystal with the new AR'd cyclops is some kind of new crystal invention, and have been thinking this which is why it let me to find out what happened when you guys tried it. To illustrate what I'm saying; the crystal as we know it minus the cyclops will cause reflections, on top of that, so will the bottom and the top of the cyclops. I'm starting to think the cyclops might be part of the new crystal and infact not attached with glue. Does anyone know of anyone thats removed a cyclops from a Gen GMT IIc? I doubt it. and I'd be willing to bet that its so clear because infact there is no underside to the glass, but infact just an AR'd cyclops in what is essentially a cut out of the main sapphire. Whatcha think? edit; while Im thinking about it; the idea Ive proposed for the complexity of this crystal MAY give the sapphire slightly weaker points around the edges of the cyclops, explaining why even though the GMT IIc has the same triplock crown and case as the new submariner, it is not rated as highly in terms of WR. (Well, that and marketing..)
-
I read a bunch of dated topics where Lani and chief were organising to sort out mags for the GMT IIc, but never saw any pictures of any finished results.. So; guys - did this work? did it look gen? Any pictures anywhere? Would love to hear from you all that were involved!

Hi doner, you're gonna feel silly! At the top of this page just below the buton for 'New Topic', theres a drop down box that says Options, go into it and switch your display mode to 'Standard'. All done!

Really nice, most bizarrely bright lume pic I've ever seen. UV Torch?
