  1. You might be right if that graph continues on it's last trajectory! I wonder how much platinum is in/on a dial?
  2. That ^^^ is a good policy! EDIT: oooh, 1003 posts, I didn't realise I'd cracked the 1k mark
  3. Interesting to note the date and the prices in it - just over 2 years ago and the YM was, according to the text,
  4. Perhaps you're afflicted by 'Gen-itis'? Where you only really feel that Gen watches are good enough to keep, but reps are a nice thing to play with and a relatively cheap hobby? lol
  5. hmm.. That looks very similar to the cases on the Parnis B&R homages... I think a good and cheap start would be to ask Jackson Tse as he has sourced me spare bars for my Parnis homages for $2 a bar with screws. If you ask him if he can get some spare strap bars for the HW41 he stocks (his english is good but not that good, so keep it fairly simple! lol) he might be able to sort you out Scroll down on here to find the HW41 reference he uses: http://www.jacksontse.com/homagehome.html (hope it's ok to post the link, mods - I'm not sure if he's a trusted dealer on here but he is on RWG1.1, so please remove it if necessary ) And if they don't fit then, hey, what's a few dollars spent on testing? Cheaper than a whole new watch straight away, especially if they do fit and the problem is solved (Oh, he doesn't sell the strap bar tool though - if you've not got one you might have to ask Topwatches2009 on ebay as they've supplied me before, but robbed me for $10 for each tool + $5 posting... )
  6. It appears that all the different factories use different size hex screws... Where did you get it? Can you post a pic?
  7. I think deltahoe is right - the classic designs are probably the ones that will still look good, and the 'fashion' watches will be the ones that look dated. It's interestng though - by 'classic' do we mean 'looks traditional/old already'? For example, I think the B&R 01-92 models may become collectable and look better with age as they are clean and simple, but they are based on an 'old' design originally developed for clarity and ease of use in aeroplane cockpits. I'm not sure many others would be watches I'd put money on as being classics, though - predicting the future isn't easy and we'd all be rich if we could!
  8. Thinking about it, I have seen a pic from Mary's workshop and it showed that she has PAM-style clocks on the wall... Drop her a line as she may be able to find what you are looking for!
  9. lol I've just rung the number - it's one of these 'personal' numbers that you can divert to wherever you want, at some not particularly cheap cost to the ringing person. It rings with a ring tone that definitely isn't in the UK...
  10. Ah, fair enough - that's the one new thing I've learnt today!
  11. I really don't know how anyone can tell gen and rep cases apart, they all look the same to me... lol
  12. Seems to be running well so far and I've not had any crashing out like I have been getting! Thanks for the hard work
  13. You guys kill me - he's spending 10 big ones on a gen vintage watch and you still want to spend more on modding it to make it a 'better' vintage lol
  14. There's someone on ebay selling 'dealer Bell and Ross clocks' as well - except I highly doubt they're genuine as he was selling a Heritage version as 'old stock, been used for years', despite the fact that the Heritage model had literally only just come out...
  15. The Sub. The APs are seconds at 12 and therefore a problem movement (if I remember correctly??). The Hublot is just a 'fashion' watch. Sub = classic You could add a little extra and get a BK/WM9 YM?
  16. Damn, there goes that idea... lol
  17. The 128 - is it the same as another one but with the date cyclops added? If so, what's to say a cyclops couldn't be removed off an easily available crystal (sub, for example) and then glued on the similar-to-128?
  18. Ohhh, so that's what he's making! All these numbers mean nothing to me lol
  19. Wow, I never knew that! Thanks for the info, Zig - I guess the only option really is to go ETA if you want a guaranteed smooth sweep!
  20. Nice work, wish I could do that!
  21. That would be cool, thank you I had spied the quartz too and wondered on their quality. If they're the same case and everything else (and are still available) they could be a good value 'back up' case
  22. I haven't seen a full review - it could be worth doing one when you get yours? lol Can anyone confirm if the Hublot factory mentioned above is also the Noobmariner factory? I'm sure I recall one of the dealers (Trusty, I think) telling me that the SOH was made in the noobmariner factory... Either way, I think the SOH and SOHC are comparable in quality, from what I can tell
  23. Really? They don't like to make this simple or easy do they... lol Will be interesting to see what comes forth in time - how they expect to sell any if they tell some dealers they are stopping, I don't know!!
