[quote name='Eton' timestamp='1288985536' post='9 I'm happily married but that doesn't mean I can't look at the menu...it simply means I can't order! Cheers!

the rep crown is too big i believe, how much smaller is the gen 24-703 crown? gen crown and tube will make for a smoother winding and adjusting experience, correct? i find the rep crystal is pretty good, ive read that a clarks is a massive improvement and ive heard it isnt, what is the consensus?

I am envious! I love me some futball!! I'm a Man Utd and AC Milan supporter. Was that the game PSV won 10-1, or something like that?

Looking good Nanuq! Both are real nice but your MBW is killer! Can you post a dial pic or your MBW so I can compare it to the PT?
-
I was afraid the 1665 would be to tall as well. For me it works great. Not sure if it the hollow middle links but it is very light weight, which is a must for me. I love my 1665!

The one on the right and in the forefront is the gen?
-
That's the plan. I really like the PT and will be quite happy with it. As you all know the longer I am here, you never know how mental I will get!

Good points gent. I just like to get all the info I can and decide if it is worth it. I'll probably stick with the following mods as originally planned: 1. 25-39 crystal 2. gen crown (i've seen them go for anywhere from $25-$80) 3. aftermarket tube 4. Upgrade the spring bars 5. cg shaving You are all right, It can get to a point where it is easier to buy a gen. I have set a limit of around $500-$600 for a gen with mods. This of course doesn't include a movt service.

Keep us updated on the Triple 6 project. I have been eying that one up.

Oh no, I have no intention of buying a gen case back. just curious if one would fit. Would one from a DRSD fit? If I could find one from another rep I might consider it, if I do anything at all. The case back would be the last thing I would do. Crystal, crown, tube, cg shave, maybe a gen insert and pearl. Way down the road maybe a bracelet.

So I find out the one which came with PT's is pretty bad, is my only recourse an MBW case back? Will a gen fit?
-
I have a 6.5" wrist and with the bracelet it wears perfect. Case diameter is 42mm on the gen, my rep is 41mm, real close to 42mm.

Newly converted vintage lover. If not the 1665 then the 16660 (Triple 6) SD. Soon to be vintage.

This is my first item that came broken. I bought an IWC rubber strap for my 3719 and the release valve doesn't release the catch allowing the pin to go all the way through. The dealer wants my to pay for shipping the watch back. I figure since it was sent to me faulty/broken the onus falls on him. Since it's my first time dealing with a dealer snaffu I'm looking to see what others have done in the same situation. Pay to send it back to CN or get the dealer to take the expense? PS... The dealer is on of the big trusted dealers on RWG, PM if you care to know who it is.

Overall I am real happy with the watch, Other than sanding down the edges vintagizing isn't my cup of tea, but you never know. Other than the hole of the coronet being too small I am pleased with the dial, perhaps after everything else I might look into a new dial. I scrolled through the dates and everything was looking good. I've read where date windows were narrow but not mine. I only need to research 4 more things besides purchasing the needed items: 1. a case back 2. Someone to do the actually modding. If anyone cares to share who they use and if they are going to take new clients on please pm me. I am in no hurry, xmas for a 3 year old has my wallet empty at the moment. 3. Research shaving the cg's, I dont know if I am going to be able to do this. 4. Bezel insert, it is a hair off from 10 min. through 35. Who sells a good one for the 1665? Over the next couple of days I'll clean the bracelet, sand the edges, and soak her in baby oil. Have a TOG bracelet to clean up as well. I will try the dru lube method next go around.

I have never taken the time to do a photography unveiling of a purchase so I have decided to give it a try. I purchased a Rolex 1665 "Great White" & a rubber strap for my IWC Slevin from PT on Oct. 24 and I just received the package today (Oct. 30). Pretty good delivery time. Packaging was excellent, wrapped generously in foam packaging and individually in zip lock bags and plastic protective tape (Rolex). A little background is in order. - When I was knee high to a blade of grass my father brought home a Rolex GMT owners manual for me for some unknown reason. The Rolex GMT (black & red bezel) was the watch that started my love affair with watches, but due to many reviews highlighting problems with either hand stack (valid or not) and my need for a functional complication
