I have just read the whole story. and now I am smoking a cigarrette, and I am thinking about how hard it is to get a replica watch preoperly serviced. No doubt about The Zigmeister work, he is the best at it but he is also very busy so maybe he is not right avalaible when you want him... I have a local watch maker working for me, the bad thing is that you have to constantly educate him about rep issues, and he is always complaining about spacer rings, date wheels and so on.. now my friend vmena is educating himslef and buying watch tools, so in the end he sure will know a lot bout watches.. I migthy say this hobby can turn into something very addictive but you will have to compensate family and watch hobby.. regards, Manuel

Hi please take a look at the first picture. It was sent to me by the guy I sold franken datejust. Overlay was from luenfat or cubic-works. (same individual) As you can see in the pictures it was accomplished trough dial stickers but still no luck. In the second picture you can see first attempt, this time with glue. Needless to say both times my watchmaster didnt accomplish task very well. I am constantly triying to educate him about franken wathces. According to my watchmaster the overlay raises a lot the heightness and therefore a hand (sorry cant remember which hand was) gets unused because it covers the canon pinion. I have seen however that other members have resolved this with luck. I would like someone to point me to the right direction or url forum. I think there was a pictorial guide sometime ago... now I am tired, here is very late but had to share this experience with community.

Neil yes you are right, I have bought some mbw trough friends of mine travelling there, but still too much hassle..I think its easier to stick with a known dealer. how are you doing btw? You feel better? What about the issue concerning Joshua and Andrew? -
Little White Lies We're Supposed To Tolerate?

I think we westerns are accustomed to low profits when it comes to sell something manufactured here. We cant expect the profits made in China! @Narikaa: In western high streets is different at all, keep in mind that if a good is 10x more expensive than its counterpart good is due because its a luxury good! When we westerns buy a product we expect the price has something to do with quality and manufacturing. That is called fair price. Its also serves as guideline. A shirt made of cotton cant cost the same as a shirt made of synthetic fibers, etc.. The average goods that come from Asia have different costs and thats good because we westerns can benefit from that, but I am sure we end paying 10x the manufacturing cost. That is called a good price. The western seller wouldnt get that profit margin if buying from western factories. Maybe we should diferenciate better the mean of "good price" and "fair price". -

Joshua has a banner of repgeek boards in his webpage. I think the signature of Slay is very informative and pictures the situation in a very few lines. Dont blame Joshua and Andrew, they are obviously doing what they are supossed to do! Selling at a profit...from we, the rich westerns. Savvy businessmen I would say! And they didnt went to collegue, i guess, but they do pretty well. They are constantly watching us spending money on bull s**t: ar coating, crown guards, lume jobs... They might think: these guys may be filthy rich or very fool! Lets raise prices a bit more.. And so the thing goes on until someone points out their tactic! Or just remember the story again. And what about innacuracies? We all are tired of telling dealers about it, but they seem to deliberately forget it. and they dont get tired of releasing new and improvement versions with...still defects. In the end you will end paying the price of a gen tissot or gen hamilton for a nice replica with still QC issues.... Remember...these watches are china made...so buy according. -
Thanks for sharing! Will try the program

Some time ago, when I arrived to this forums I was enlightened by some projects of members here. I always liked the datejust, because its simplicity and beautiness, so when ubiquitous started his project and posted his granite pictures i told myself that I had to do it too. Gathering parts was funny, but it later took me some time to see the project accomplished. I even decided to sell the parts but buyer changed his mind, so I kept the parts and finished the damn thing. Building a freanken instead of buying a simple rep is more costly and you have to be patient. So here it is, hope you like it, Regards Manuel The 16200 case. Serial number circa 1991. It has lugholes. Some other parts, thanks to erd04056 for the date overlay!: And now, finished! Compare genuine and fake clasp, the one I putted is genuine. See genuine shappire and thick crystal: More pics: other rollies. Now I will focus on the WM white 1680 I like vintage reps too.

I see I was wrong. You seem to have accomplished project with success. I tried it with a noobmariner too, but no luck. I wouldnt attached the drill firmly so I gave up. I ended up giving the case to vmena. He likes to exercise his modders skills. But maybe you should have waited until you had smaller drills.

I see you like your vintage so much. Happy to see it went to a nice guy.
