I wonder why you would want to bring back a rep that had so many flaws it was a joke! There have been rumours of this watch for a long time from Taiwan makers so who knows one day it may appear. For me it is the best model Rolex have ever made. let's hope they give a thicker rehaut this time so at least it looks more pleasing!
There is a post I made somewhere in the Rolex section of actual side by side pics that I took of my gen ceramic sub when I had a BK sub sometime earlier this year.
Obvious differences are the crownguards, Thinner bezel, hour markers, hands to name a few.
I did the mods and will get some other pics soon.
@Bytor. I don't have much to be honest as I'm travelling quite a lot since selling my company earlier this year. The only reps I have are this Sub and a Spinmaster Daytona which will be in the sales area shortly! Just too small!
Here are a couple.
You are probably right, I doubt there is better anywhere. My gen parts list is crown, tube, dial , bezel, crystal, crystal retainer, bezel insert and complete bracelet! Do I win the p*****g contest!
Case set price is the same as Sean quoted me for the Sub. A 2892 or 2824 will fit with a spacer ring to suit. The crown height difference is not much between a 3135/3035 compared to a 2892/2824 but miles out with a 2836.
These new pictures have put me off to be honest. The bezel teeth while very defined are not right for a Sub and look nearer the style of a Yachtmaster. A shame as I was very tempted this time. Also the insert looks too angled which may mean that the crystal retainer ring is not quite the same as genuine and would mean a flatter gen insert would not be a simple exchange without grinding away at the back of the oem insert!
I guess we need to see one in the flesh or get the OP to experiment on our behalf.
This case set has been around a long time but nobody I guess has bothered as a gen movement plus all the other extras needed make it pointless financially. you may as well go and get a 2nd Sub that will be perfect. This kit will still have it's irritating flaws I'm sure!
It would be nice to see some better all round member pics of this case set.
We will see when it arrives what the quality is like. It depends on what you're expectations are, I don't think the mbw cases are anythinhg special without much work.
I would probably fit a gen movement because I can but only if I found a good 5512 dial. I could go out and buy a gen but I enjoy messing with these projects so I will see how it goes.
I have bought a yuki 5512 case set with eta dial hands and movement ring and should have It this week. I also have a gen crown and tropic 19 plus a genuine bezel insert too. I have ordered a rep with slow beat eta 2846 and will use that plus the bracelet until a good gen dial appears on the market then I will fit a 1560 movement inside! Will post some pics when it all comes tohgether.
The one thing that usually gives away a rep over gen crystal is the cyclops. The gen has a slightly whitish border to it similar to the edge of the gen crystal outer edge. I would know straight away if it were in front of me but it is hard to tell from pics.
The markers are only very, very slightly fatter. My camera shots make it appear thicker than they are. The finish too is better in the flesh and may be very slightly flatter but not significantly.
Someone was asking not too long ago about the LV insert from Cousins here in the UK so I thought I would order one and see. I'm building a Sub LV based around a gen dial I have bought and was going to source a gen insert but this Cousins insert colour is spot on for me. I thought I would just post a couple of early pics and give you guys who want a nice colour insert an idea how it looks. Dial has not arrived just yet so it is just the case set for now.
I bought a TW case set from BK not long ago and have removed the rehaut engraving and fitted a gen crown and tube set. The crystal is great so I will leave that alone.
The insert has a nice Olive green look to it and not too vivid like some aftermarket inserts I have seen. It does have a gen pearl in it which is the only negative I guess with the crappy pearl it had fitted but you can source better pearls.
Last pic in direct sunlight.
The bonding has worked ok and I have tried to pull it apart and it's holding fine for now. Bought a gen 42 PO today so I'm not too bothered about the rep now. May sell the gen parts on here soon.
This happened on my watch yesterday but I have bonded it with some Permatex Cold Weld glue and it seems to be solid. Time will tell and I might order a gen clasp as they are not to pricey I don't think.
