@Dizzy The pictures do show only small differences but in the flesh it is very clear which is which. @monacoV4 The markers are slightly raised but no more than normal. The gen rings are thinner and more shallow making th erep look worse than it is. Here is a lume shot guys and this is a surprise based on previous comments made about the Rolex blue lume models. It is harder to tell as my camera does not show the correct colour rendition but the gen is more greeny than the very blue rep lume. People say the gen is blue but it is more turqoise than a true blue however long it is exposed. Rep is on the left as other photos.

Getting married on Saturday *nervous as hell*
watcher replied to concepta's topic in General Discussion
All the very best for you both on Saturday and for the wonderful future you will have together!!! I hope you have given her a nice IWC Franken! to wear on the big day -
I became the proud owner of a gen Cermaic Sub on Tuesday and thought I would do a couple of comparison shots for you. One note on the gen though, I did intend to sell this one as I bought below retail but this watch appeals to me more and more as I look at it and wear it! The fit and finish is much higher than the model it replaces. Also you do get used to it's bigger appearance. The clasp and bracelet are very impressive and the Ar'ed cyclops is brilliant in practise. Anyway onto the comparison. I'm not one for long reviews but the biggest differences between the 2 are as follows: Crown guards are shorter on the gen making the crown appear more proud of the case than it is. The bezel is too high and the teeth are not high enough or deep enough. Rehaut is not as tall on the gen which gives the crown a hiher position compared to the rep. Crystal not as crisp but that is normal on rep Rollies and no AR on cyclops. The date font on BK's datewheel is very good with no noticable difference. Hour markers have a rims that are too thick and also are slightly smaller than the gen. Hands on the rep are bigger in size. Bezel pearl is too dark on rep but the bezel finish is pretty good. figures are slighlty brighter o the gen watch. Gen insert is flatter. Case is not quite as crisp on the edges(fairly normal on reps though). Bracelet is quite good with quite nice SEL's. Lume is more blue on gen but the rep is not bad. I forgot to do a lume shot for you so I will add this later. All in all if you did not have them side by side you would only really notice the thick bezel and markers straight away and the rep is a nice watch in it's own right. Only the pure beautiful finish of the real watch shadows it when along side. Onto some pics!

Speedmaster reduced today for me

PAM 168 does not use El-primero movement. It is fitted with a 7753.

A genuine bezel will not fit on a rep retainer and function. You can fit it on but it will not turn. The width and profile are different and not 1:1. You will need to find a gen retainer and a new crystal gasket too. here is a pic of my franken(no longer owned) with gen bezel etc fitted on a V2 case.
-
I remember it well M! They came with both bezels and a box set too! from memory it was fitted with a slow beat asia 7750.

Submariner 2010 ceramic bezel - rep vs. gen
watcher replied to Whatever123's topic in The Rolex Area
The movement is fine. What I meant was that the crown position is always wrong with a 2836, 2824 is closer to 3135 Rollie movement as with the WM9 watches. Not had any experience with asia movements though. I always go swiss where possible. -
Submariner 2010 ceramic bezel - rep vs. gen
watcher replied to Whatever123's topic in The Rolex Area
I had the gen for two days before trading on to a buyer and the biggest differences are the Cyclops having no AR, the CG's being a long way off, the gen has shorter lugs so the crown sticks out quite a long way even compared to the older gen sub. The worst thing for me though is the very thick bezel. It is the same problem on the GMT rep too I think. The gen ceramic Sub bezel is no different to a standard 16610 Sub bezel. Not sure why they have got this so wrong apart from the issue of using a 2836 movement maybe. I no longer have the rep either as these things bothered me too much. I will probably have another gen in a few weeks so I will take some pics then. -
I used permatex cold weld. I use that on the tube too. Seems ok so far
-
Too much probably! but it was fun to do.

I don't think early PO's did. My new back has from ofrei. The pic shows a gen caseback though, you can tell by the quality of the seahorse.
-
UPO again but I have fitted a gen rubber strap today!
-
A gen bezel will not fit without making up the thickness between the gen bezel and the case. Not impossible but difficult. I made the decision to bond the complete gen bezel assembly into position as I cared more about looks than a functional bezel!
-
I have now got back from hols and fitted my gen caseback that I ordered from Ofrei 5 weeks ago! It fits perfectly guys! It is much better finshed and engraved which you do not really notice until a side by side comparison is made! The seahorse is far superior though with much more crisp detailing than the rep which is flatter too. It as you will see in the picture comes with the globe engraved too. Sorry about the pics but I'm rushing around at the moment but thought I would post quickly as there is a gen back on EBay for one of you to buy if desired. Rep is on the right but I'm sure you can tell anyway!
