  1. On the basis of this comparison I drew the same conclusion. Have now bought the watch, and it is actually great. Looks good. Feels less chuncky when worn than other big watches, but has all the precense. Now hope it will work properly. So far the experience is so-so. It needs to be wound up to get a big power reserve to keep going. But winding it is fiddely. So a bit irritating when used in rotation. Basically I have to assume that it will go to sleep during the day, so initially not reliable. However once it gets going it is fine. But somewhat concerning as I am not sure how strong the crown rubber will prove in the long run. Or if this is a symptom of seconds@12 disease.
  2. Perhaps biggest trigger for new threads is new reps. I seem to note that there are not that much on that front at the moment.
  3. Lots of people have dealt with Mark at timesshop.net. He is definitely OK. Good communication, and the fact that he bothers to contact you here is very positive IMHO. Not perfect though. I don't think that he QCs the watches before shipment.
  4. It is a Bank Holiday weekend here in the UK, so a late entry (This also being my first experiment with picture in a post...): Saturday: Roger Dubuis Easy Diver. Beautiful Big Beast. Saturday evening for a very formal do: Vacheron Constantin. Anyone knows of a model this is suppose to resemble??? Sunday: Montblanc Flyback. Quartz, accurate, reliable and cheap. But looks good with jeans. Monday: Ebel Panda. No introduction needed.
  5. That looks like a good price. I just bought a similar one on Ebay for
  6. Again interesting. This acknowledges the volume brands as well, and certainly if one single brand is recognised across all social strata, it is Swatch, well ahead of Rolex. To me it looks like the aspired positioning of this brand rather than the result of any market surveys. It has a slightly different positioning of the top brands they list (not including IWC) from the other one.
  7. Shame for the old place......I am sure they would benefit from your comments.........:-) But here goes anyway. Apparently this was a picture taken in a Girard-Perregaux AD and are based on market research from 2007:
  8. Look at this one. It shows how one manufacturer segments the market. It does not show where though, but I guess it is meant to be global: http://www.replica-watch-guide.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=1711
  9. The use (or not) of reps by rep owners is very personal. I slipped into reps a bit by accident. I needed a new watch. But did not want to pay a fortune, so started on Ebay with unknown brands. Big mistake. Then came across the fake world and decided to try it out, crossing my fingers, pressing the "buy" button - and got burned... Next stop RWG and sister fora. From there I never looked back. The thing is that I like nice watches. No....not so.....I LOVE THEM! So now I have a fair few. I wear them openly - with one exception: I do not wear them when visiting ADs as I do not wish to offend anyone. Many people know what I do but more do not. The thing is that no-one knows my financial situation. I could possibly afford the watches I wear and so they may seem right. Only I know if that would be the case. No-one in the the UK - other than my children - has ever commented on my watches to me. Different story in Scandinavia where they are more brand concious than here. I guess it all depends on the culture in which you move around. To me it is about value for money. With reps I get a lot. Awaiting the next delivery within a few days...
  10. Not sure about this one. Shame really. I am really keen for this series to be replicated. I like the classic watch turned sports utility. But for the replication of a Breguet to work, it really needs to be top notch. Unfortunately this one seems not really to be there.
  11. Of all the watches out there, this is the one to go rep with and leave it there. Have seen so many comments about the visual differences (or rather lack of same) and they all agree that you would be hard pushed to tell the difference. Have one myself and the movement also works well. If you want to go gen, go for one where the rep is less accurate. - Or even better, find one that is not replicated.
  12. Hadn't noticed this thread before I started one directly relating to sweeping quartz. Bulgari has a model which I was shown today, with a very smooth sweeping hand. So someone out there does make it.
  13. Stopped by at a Bulgari AD today and saw a quartz model with sweeping seconds. Very nice. Are there any reps with this capability?
  14. No. For more info about the SOSF see this thread on RWI: http://www.replica-watch.info/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=203&t=55903
  15. They come up frequently on EBay at prices well below this one. I think there are a couple at the moment at Ebay.co.uk
  16. I am sitting with the same as schultz has just bought. On that one the rotor is engraved.
  17. Please report how you get on with this. From information I have seen, the gen movement does not fit the rep case. Would be good if that is not so.
  18. Have just received a Portuguese Chrono. A beautiful watch which will require some mods to be great. One I would like to do is to get a new crown as the existing one has virtually no detailing. How and where do I find a replacement crown that will work with the current watch? And how much should one expect to pay?
  19. The other challange is to find the rep where you could be sure that it actually is water resistant at all.......
  20. I have just received my Skyland from Hont, and it really looks great. Having worn it for some hours I noticed a loud rattling noise when I shake it. It sounds like something loose inside the case. However so far the watch seems to work well. What would cause this noise, and should I be concerned - in contrast to just being irritated?
  21. Great. Let us know how it went. Water resistence is a frequently recurring issue here.
  22. Great to see new dealer here. It is always good with new blood! I like the website. It seems to load easily and the pictures are quite good. Prices may not make me switch straight away, but perhaps once in a while some good offers will crop up. I noticed that some watches are listed as water resistant. Great!! Hopefully this dealer actually tests the watches to make sure that they really are OK. In that case I would certainly consider to switch dealer! In fact a reputation for quality control would really make a difference. Sorting the problems out before they are shipped would be so much better than having to deal with them across borders, time zones and language barriers. So good luck - and welcome from me!
  23. Have tried Timpsons with varied success. Certainly my local one can do it, but some of the guys there insist on doing the test to the depth mentioned on the watch. I am almost certain that none of my watches can stand a deep sea dive, and all I want is to swim with it. That means testing to 3 atm. Simple and can be done on premises. In some cases I have been refused service all together, and in other cases I have had it done as long as I took responsibility for any problems with the test. The charge has varied from nothing to
  24. Has been done. Mark @ Timesshop.net advertises one for $100.
  25. And also welcome from Oxfordshire.....Seems we are more around here than I would have thought!!
