  1. I tried to put my 036 CG (not sure what dealer it's from, but not Davidsen) on the 240 but it would not fit... The problem I have with my 240 CG is that there is no curvature on the top to match the case... if it had that, it would be a really nice watch... with the flat CG, it sticks out like a sore thumb :(

The CG in your photo here looks curved on to... does it have this or is it just because it is such a wide angle shot? I'd really like to know as I'll get a new one if that's the case :)

  2. My name's David... some people who have just been introduced to me feel it necessary to call me 'Dave'... even though I was introduced, or introduced myself as 'David'... yes, that bugs me... I'd rather be called 'D'

Some of my friends call me Dave, but I get over it (in time)... The good and/or close friends know to call me David.

God forbid they call me Davey or Davo (australian for Dave LOL) :o

  3. Dear Walter:

I hope you can help me here. The other day, I set off for work leaving

my husband in the house watching the TV as usual. I hadn't gone more

than a mile down the road when my engine conked out and the car

shuddered to a halt. I walked back home to get my husband's help. When

I got home I couldn't believe my eyes. He was in our bedroom, having

sex with the neighbor lady. I am 32, my husband is 34, and we have been

    married for twelve years.

When I confronted him, he broke down and admitted that they had been

having an affair for the past six months. I told him to stop or I would

leave him. He was let go from his job six months ago and he says he has

been feeling increasingly depressed and worthless. I love him very

much, but ever since I gave him the ultimatum he has become

increasingly distant. He won't go to counseling and I'm afraid I can't

    get through to him anymore.

    Can you please help?

    Sincerely,

    Sheila

    ---------------------------------------------------

    Dear Sheila:

A car stalling after being driven a short distance can be caused by a

variety of faults with the engine. Start by checking that there is no

debris in the fuel line. If it is clear, check the vacuum pipes and

hoses on the intake manifold and also check all grounding wires. If

none of these approaches solves the problem, it could be that the fuel

pump itself is faulty, causing low delivery pressure to the carburetor

    float chamber.

    I hope this helps.

    Walter

  4. sorry, as much as i hate it david ... i have to disagree with you here. unless there were different productions the bezel is ss, the case is tt, the caseback is ss, the lever is tt, the crown guard is ss but i am unsure of the actual crown. i am wearing my "e" series right now and am 100% sure. here is the best picture i could find for proof although it's still very hard to tell. i hope this helps!

Not sure, but I wouldn't think the spec would have changed so much... but I am going by only the memory and photos, as the watch has since passed... Here are some photyos of my 91D:

Not sure what this is, but the 91 is brushed, not polished, so it would be a different model than the 91

  5. Seems that the ACCC has no teeth... just got th is email:

As you may be aware, a number of changes were scheduled to come into effect on eBay.com.au on 17 June 2008.

Most of these changes have been delayed by almost one month and are now scheduled to commence on 15 July 2008.

PayPal Buyer Protection will still increase to $20,000 on 17 June 2008.

Current policies regarding accepted payment methods still apply. This means PayPal is required on all listings on eBay.com.au. Other payment methods (i.e. bank deposit, cheque/money order) may also be offered until 15 July 2008.

As previously communicated any listings that do not comply with eBay's Accepted Payments Policy will be removed. We strongly recommend that in order to ensure your listings comply with the Accepted Payments Policy you remove any details of payment methods other than PayPal or pay on pick up within the item description. Listings that have other payment methods offered within the payment options field will be allowed to expire as these options will not be displayed to buyers from 15 July 2008.

There are a small number of categories where PayPal is not mandatory. There are also some categories that do not qualify for PayPal Buyer and Seller Protection. Learn more about these excluded categories.

As mentioned PayPal Buyer Protection will still increase to $20,000 on 17 June 2008.

To ensure you benefit from PayPal's Buyer Protection Policy, eBay strongly recommends you use PayPal when paying for your purchases on eBay.com.au.

From 15 July 2008 the available payment methods will be limited to PayPal, Visa/MasterCard, or pay on pick up.

The decision to delay these changes was made by eBay following the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission's (ACCC) draft notice issued on Thursday 12 June 2008.

eBay released a media statement on Friday 13 June regarding the ACCC's draft notice.

Read eBay's statement and community announcement.

Please note that some of our onsite communications will still refer to changes taking place on 17 June 2008. These communications are being updated and should reflect the new date of 15 July 2008 within the coming days.

    The eBay Team

    "Regards" my a$$ ^_^

  6. A good friend of mine bought the gen 3717 after he saw my rep... he was so psyched to get it, and loves the watch... He's had it for about 6 months now and treats it with kid gloves... well, maybe not quite, but he doesn't beat on it in any sense...

Anyhow, went to visit him for a coffee today and he starts shaking the watch at me... Hey... he says... what do you think the problem is here?...

Shaking the watch made the scariest of sounds... I mean really scary (especially for a gen).. Sounds to me like the rotor has fallen off somehow :o Could be something else though... the watch is running still and keeping time, although the power reserve is down to about 8 hours... so I reckon it's the rotor (coming from an amateur WIS)

Just thought I'd share this horror story, as it seems so appropriate

  7. The things that bug me most about the iPhone is that there's no copy and paste function and the way SMS messages are all grouped by conversation/contact...

Sometimes I want to filter out or delete certain ma\essages, but it's not possible as far as I can see :(

Otherwise, I'm really liking it and hope the v2 software makes it better!

  8. I don't see a problem trying to raise funds for whatever cause you want on the forum... whether it's for the running of the forum and keeping this great community running, or even AJS's MBA... as long as the funds are actually transferred to that cause... Just make a Fundraising section on the forum... separate to the sales forums.

As in posts being disgusting... that's a pretty strong word  I'm curious to see what people are finding disgusting, as I've seen some pretty disgusting things in my life... Posts on internet watch forums don't seem to be able to fit into that category.

  9. dude, , <snip> the worst thing that can happen to this forum is it gets shutdown and the owners get sued. NO ONE is gonna go after individual posters even if they post drawings or whatever

    Dude ;)

If the forum got shut down, wouldn't that be a terrible thing??? Seems that you don't care so much about that :o Not that it would happen or anything...

I contributed in this project... hopefully it will all come to some good ^_^

I have the final 3d model... and the drawings... if these crowns are all good, they will continue to be produced... one way or another, I'm sure... If the starter of this project doesn't want to do it anymore, and more people want crowns, I'm sure they can be produced again, to the same spec.

For now, the project stays with the owners, if they want to pass it on, by whatever means, they can...

On the other hand... crowns, or any Panerai parts ain't friggin rocket science... and can be produced to perfect accuracy, time and money permitting, as we can see with several projects on the go at the moment... so please all those who want drawings and specs... at least wait til some are released before you want all the work put into it to be handed out freely

  10. I also bought this model....

Most looks ok on mine except the horrible horrible CG and lever. looks like they finish machined the lever with a chainsaw.

Another thing I noticed was the center pin for the hour/minutes hands sticks up too far from the hands where it should bealmost flush with a slight dome on top.

The lever doesn't fit in the CG properly, as it is so roughly finished that it scrapes on the inside of the cg and the action feels awful.

One other thing that bugs me about the CG is the lack of curvature on the top face of the CG to match the curve of the case... They do it on the steel models, why can't they do it on the Ti models?

Davidssen sent out a new CG/Lever to me a few days ago.
