Experts, Will a Swiss VJ7750 with a 9,6,3 layout fit the post 2000 Daytona with the new 28.8 Asian 7750 movement. Apart form the fact of the running sec@9 are not corrct. Will it line up, fit the case and will the subdial canionpins be on the right spot? Anybody have experience with this?
-
Quality is fine. You get three gaskets with the tube. It does not straight fit the MBW watchcase. You have to rethread. I have asked them if the crowns have the rolex emblem embossed... negative. They are not allowed (could have thought of that myself). There's your answer.
-
Definitely not an MBW or WM. The bezel is to thin. Tropic to flat. Crown guards to bulky. Still a good base to practice modding... I love the Comex... Do they exist in MBW?

Dial faces in general have a transparent varnish on them to fix text etc. (at least that is my experience). Don't use any detergent to clean or you will loose printing. Just use a mild soap or just water. If the 'dirt' is under the varnish forget about cleaning. Good luck. If you work on the dial put on watchmakers gloves so you won't make new stains.

Sourcing Dials For 1665 Mbw And Gen Matte 16660
kingkitesurf replied to Warrcraft's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
I have looked at white dials of gens and the only remark I can make is that the hour markers are closer to the minute lines on the gen. Further it looks magnificent. -
OK but my experience with the 4 watches I took apart (MBW, Sub, Expl2 and IWC) is that it's easy and that there was already varnish on the dial (I tried with a regular sticker and left it 1 night) and then pulled it off. It would come straight of leaving the dialprint 100% in tact... Guess I was lucky Taking the watch apart is very, very simple. But I understand that this could be a bit scary... with all it's risks and problems. Oh well...just thought I share it.

Just got a gen ebay Zodiac watch delivered... Was confiscated by customs. Had to pay 70 USD tax on a 200 USD watch. Luckily it was not a rep otherwise it would have been confiscated or I should have payed $$$ to release it as real. Either I or my dealer would have deep trouble. So I just thought of something. Why not print low adhesive vinyl stickers with the following text: -Your Logo -Company slogan goes here In black, silver and white version. Doesn't have to be precise. They pass customs as customizable promotional watches... The sticker color may vary in color a bit thats no problem...All a dealer needs to do is: - unscrew caseback, release crown, release clamps and put sticker over logo. As your watch arrives all we have to do is the same to release the logo covering sticker. The dial has a varnish coat so you won't rip of the real logo. Takes 7 minutes to prepare the watch for use. No risk at customs anymore? What do you think...? Here is an example of the IWC jones (don't pay attention to the photoshopping quality):

I am in! Ubi another amazing upgrade... -
Djeeez, Sorry about this. I could have the same thing happening now? I received the hotmail email address from DW from one of the very respected members also participating in this thread. It had the W in the address and David only as a header when DW replied. But I just tranfered 400 USD to China using WU...China is a good sign... (stupid to use WU?). However DW send me the tracking number 1 day later. Let's wait and see. It could have fallen for the same trick... and maybe I have. Sorry for you to hear that. That Roseville stuff must be trackable...or the guy must have been in an Internet cafe... right? Well one day we have all fallen for a scam sort one way or the other. It's part of the game I guess. I have bought from Idealwatches once and I bought some gen Zodiac a week ago on the Bay and the guy put a very high value on the package. Customs made me pay 70 USD tax on receipt... I wouldn't have accepted it but my girlfriend thought I would be happy to receive the watch after a month so she paid cash while I was not reachable by phone...surprise from my girl to me... what do you do.

Funny thing... but for me the sport is not to have genuines.... I am sure genuines will not make me feel better... I like the fact that we try to be close for a fraction of the costs... the work in it is the challenge... the search.... and end up with something I like to look at. If I had the resources I would still think it's simple and lacking fantasy of buying a gen. Then I would spent my money on helping others while wearing close reps. Am I strange or what?

Nanuq, Both are f*cking close to water... Did I spoil it -
Dude, I must say I am more a Rolex man looking sideways to Panerai... but djeeeeez this is by far the best I have seen... Gorgious.
-
There are excellent aftermarket inserts for around 20-35$... Maybe just buy a gen pearl instead... Gen inserts go for well over 200$ on the bay. I am still looking for a genuine crown... Anybody?

I got that one coming in... We have here the answer on who has the best... TTK has the best... Those pictures are sickening... Pugs and TTK have the best shots...

Daytona With New Asain 7750 Keeps Stopping - Help Please
kingkitesurf replied to DarrenJH's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Didn't The Zigmeister mention you could turn the seconds@6 subdial of by removing a gear (so that not all 11 would need to move). Maybe you can then turn on the chrono big second hand instead. You have then a good running regular (non chrono) beautiful watch. Or am I saying stupid things here?? At least you can wear it. I am worried a bit because I have one coming up from TTK but he double checks all his watches going out... So I hope all will be well with that one. It is however a risky movement... -
So Nanuq do I understand now that there are non-superdome, superdome and superduperdome #39s??? Do you know which one AT will be sending by any chance? I have the impression that you are rather 'known' to the man of time. Cheers.
-
Nanuq and Ubi, I have just ordered a gen #39 superdome from AT as well. He really emphasizes it is genuine... kinda got [censored] of because I was double checking ... He seems to have more of them (which makes me wonder) Nanuq do you have any reason to believe these are not genuine? And that some rep master has mastered himself a rep and now distributes them? I also ordered the non-superdome on the Bay (same as LionsTigersDragonsAndDwarfs ) has. He is really happy with his... I saw a guy in Australia on the Bay having a lot of #39 Superdomes (still wrapped up in a rol)... next day he took it of and now is selling them seperate.
-
I know but I can't seem to find them on the Bay... they seem to be expelled... I would like to order a flat 39 because I also bought a gen superdome 39 but that was expensive compared to the Helfands. Just to compare how they look on the watch...
-
Do the Helfands dudes have a website or do you know other people who sell the Non-superdome #39. Can't find good ones on the bay. Neither can I find the Heflands.
-
Supercool Bulova my friend... Today is my 1665 Yesterday was the GMT Pepsi.
-
Is this crown on the bay genuine? It looks like my MBW crown and the three dots are close to the coronet. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...N%3AIT&rd=1 Please experts speak your mind. Cheers Job

Chris, That dial is the ultimate one I have seen. I just love mods like that. I have been looking for the courage to start that way. At this moment I use plaster... If I mess up I can rinse with water and it's all back to start. But if you mess this up.... sigh... That is what keeps me from trying... I have Revell NC standing and waiting... Awaiting your tutorial .. Cheers

Altough I was a Rolex man I will start collecting other models... Omega looks sweeeeeeet..... Does anybody have the new Planet Ocean Chrono 2nd edition yet? I would like some experiences - Overall look & feel - Does it have 22mm lugs - Does it have the new 28.8 Asian 7750 - What are known issues (so I can see if they bother me ) Cheers

My 600$ Mistake From Watchmaker9 - 18k Blue Sub
kingkitesurf replied to davidk's topic in The Rolex Area
Sorry, The bracelet looks OK and has the right color gold IMHO. Further the bezel looks awful colored. The dial is a pitty. For that amount it is a pitty. Well maybe you feel better if I say that I bought to genuine watches from Citizen and Zodiac on the Bay for about a total of your amount and one arrived was way to small (dead ugly) and the Vintage Zodiac Sea Wolf has never arrived. I guess buying watches over the net in general is risky... accept for the dealers here... Good to know...
