  1. Right on. My grandfather served our country in WWI. My father served in WWII and Korea. I served in Vietnam. IF I had a son, he would have served in the Gulf War. Freedom is NOT free. Remember them all.
  2. Gotta be the SOH on OR. Why? THE most beautiful dial of any diver, and oh yea, THE most comfortable case for 46 mm of ANY watch I own. When I think of more reasons, I'll let you know. Did I mention BEAUTIFUL???
  3. There have been a number of folks who have shaved that 2mm off the OR bracelet in order to fit the 22mm sizing of the SW lugs. I would highly suggest that. The OR strap and ss clasp is such a beautiful combo. A careful cutting or shaving of the strap is fairly easily accomplished.
  4. Nice watch. Beautiful bracelet too. Doxa has a beautiful selection of divers. Finding a nice 2nd hand deal is a deal.
  5. Monster is the only way to go. Easily accessible over the internet. How about this beauty, a little Black AND Orange. If you have concerns about wrist size there are many watchband sites that offer aftermarket straps that have deployment clasps that could be easily adjusted as the lad grows a bit. The Monster will last a lifetime.
  6. Today I was walking into a local Pub, and walking out at the same time, was a young guy, maybe 23 or 24 yrs old. Being the WIS that I am, I noticed that the guy was wearing the same watch as I. A PP Aquanaut with the rubber bracelet. Without a doubt it was the rep 5167. No don't get me wrong, its all good to see someone else wearing such a nice watch, but remember I am old, I can actually get away with wearing a gen Aquanaut, but this young man did not pull it off. I had to laugh...not at him, but at myself for being such a watch obsessive goon. Here is a shot of the watch in question.
  7. It is all about paying attention, and doing ones homework. THIS is the place. There are scammers...on all the boards.
  8. Screw Rolex..go to Wempe on 5th Ave. Could be the best watch retailer on the planet.
  9. Beautiful work...beautiful photos. The black dial 2254 is a long time favorite. I also have the older closed factory case, with the correct HE valve placement. I wear mine with a gen rubber strap and gen ss deployment clasp. The gen strap and clasp cost three time what the watch did. But after replacing the ss band I feel the rubber strap makes the watch a classic 'diver'. Wear it well.
  10. Unreal thread. Thank you. Bump.
  11. Ok, nice collection. Now tell me..isn't the SOH the best of them all?? Yea!!!!
  12. The Seawolf in black dial is clear winner. The OR bracelet and deployment is the best rubber strap combo of ANY brand. SEAWOLF beats Steelfish hands down. What does Dave say?
  13. I really can't post yet, it is still Sunday here in the South Pacific. But I just wanted to point out that Ubi's vintage Seamaster is one of the coolest watches in the world. Remind you of the Fifty Fathoms a little bit? What a beautiful watch. Thanks.
  14. Wow, my worst nightmare. I have a beautiful 183. I have often wondered the same thing. Best of luck.
  15. Doggified really didn't sound quite right. But a rose by any other name...smells as sweet.
  16. Do we like it here? Are we lucky to have members like Ubi, and WD or what? Thanks guys.
  17. What a great thread. Beautiful watch that's for sure. Your photos are unreal. Great, just what I need..another watch. Thanks. Wear it well.
  18. This is so easy. 1. 3717 - Chrono 2. Ingy - Non Chrono Which do you want??? Easy.
  19. Here is my 2254.50 I much prefer the rubber strap and deployment. One of my top three/all time.
  20. I don't believe there are any rep Omega rubber straps for the 20mm lugs. Ofrei offers gens of that type of strap, in blue, black, orange etc. Most cost around 100.00 to 150.00 bucks.
  21. White dials. Hmmm. Not the Ebel chrono. Rollis (any) would be better. How about the Omega Aqua Terra? BIG white dialed watches seem REALLY big. 40mm to 42mm only, please. Yes defintely the Aqua Terra.
