  1. Ah, my mistake. Oh well, it'll still look better than the crappy cyclops that is on there now. I'll post a pic when I get it all back.
  2. Ulysses Nardin maxi diver would be a big hit, especially since they could iterate the same case for lots of variations, similar to what they did w/ the HBB.
  3. Not sure if this topic has been broached before - how do you decide what new reps to buy? For me, there are a couple of necessary (but not sufficient) conditions - it must be a super-rep or close to it. That means sapphire crystal and good detailing on the dial and case. No recessed datewheels, which rules out most 3-6-9 chrono's (except the HBB where the date is recessed on the gen too). No quartz. No all-gold, but 2-tone is OK. OK, so those are the ground rules. After that I start to look at watches as ways to match or complement my clothing and overall style. Generally this means no super dressy watches like VC or Breguet. Cartier is OK, but just barely. Other than that I look at things like: Is it a unique looking timepiece? What is the dial color? Is it on SS or leather? Can I match it to a nice leather or croc aftermarket strap? Do I have a red watch? A blue watch? A yellow watch? Can I justify another white dialed watch? How many black dialed watches with SS cases can I actually justify? So those are my thoughts about new reps. I just sold 2 watches (Breitling Bentley GT and a PAM 024) and bought 3 others - HBB SS/RG, Porsche Flat 6 red Chrono, and Dewitt Academia. I think the new ones are more interesting watches and good replacements for the ones that have left me....
  4. Now if they would just come out w/the 025 in titanium at this quality level
  5. OK, so I went to the mall today to exchange some really bad christmas presents. While there I passed by a pretty big watch store and decided to stop in. Was wearing my Breitling ultimate evo and they happened to be breitling dealers, along w/Panerai, Cartier, Tag, Chopard, Corum, Rolex, Patek Philipe, Gerrard Perrigaux, Maurice Lacroix, and a few others. Mainly I wanted to check out Panerai. I was amazed at how awesome the Panerai's looked, particularly compared to my memory of how my reps at home looked. I wandered around and saw the breitling display, tons of watches, including many evo's. Looking at them they looked AWESOME, much better than what I am accustomed to seeing at home w/my four ultimate evo's. Just as I was about to write off reps entirely I discreetly put my wrist on the counter to check out my own grey/black evo. Shockingly, it looked AWESOME as well. It looked much, much better than I've ever seen it look before. Then it hit me. The lighting in this store is rigged to make watches and jewelry look their absolute best. It makes sense, as the are in the business of selling sparkly things. So, moral of the story is next time you go to an AD, don't automatically assume that the watches on display there "trounce" your reps. A LOT of the impression of quality comes from the lighting and presentation. Luckily the store was deserted and I was able to abscond w/out any of the salespeople taking too much interest in what I had on my wrist. Generally I try to avoid going into watch stores that sell the brand of rep I might be wearing at that moment.
  6. I live in Denver, over 300 days per year of sunshine. Soon I'll have double AR shots to show on my PAM 111H, 082, 113, 183, 029, and FER011. I'll be sure to post them.
  7. I predict that if Obama wins the dem nomination, he'll go on to win it all and be our next president.
  8. This seems glued to my wrist, 3 days in a row w/the same watch, must be some kind of record for me:
  9. Double AR all the way. Gens have single AR, but like Rolex, they "ought to" have double AR, IMO. It just make a huge difference in sharpness and crispness and clarity of the dial.
  10. K2222 is using the cyclops I got from chieftang as a prototype for more cyclops' for PAM's. So, if you need to replace a cyclops you can send it to him and they have the properly spec'd replacement. Can't wait to get mine back w/the double AR on both crystal and cyclops
  11. Changed my mind on what I was going to wear today. I took the metal bracelet off my grey dial / black subdial ultimate evo and put on the black leather breitling strap. D@mn it looks hot. So it usurped the bling:
  12. That's too bad, guess I'll be holding on to my 2893 powered 029....
  13. 029 has standard rep lume as far as I know. But his crystal does seem to have single sided AR now, and a real cyclops. The other dealers 029's have bad cyclops and no AR at all. Of course my vote would be to spring for the 2893 version and pop the crystal and send it to k2222 for double AR and a cyclops upgrade (hey, that is what I did!).
  14. IMO, they are pretty much the same, but davidsen has a better crystal and cyclops. That's if you are talking about the 2836 version. If you are talking about the 2893 version, then Josh is the way to go.
  15. Vic, any thoughts on the Aeropress? IMO, it's not glamorous, it simply makes a great cup of coffee.
  16. Today I switched to my Breitling Navi because my Bob Shark strap came in, so I immediately put it on. Again, double AR courtesy of K2222:
  17. are they using a blade grinder? IMO, a burr grinder is just as, if not more, important than the coffee machine. Invest in a good burr grinder and freshly roasted quality beans and it's almost impossible to make a bad cup.
  18. If you buy the monaco, men will respect you. If you buy the cartier, women will throw themselves at you. The choice is yours.....
  19. The cool thing about the aeropress is that it only makes the "heart" of the coffee. In other words, you make a very small, concentrated amount in the press, put it in a cup, and add more hot water to dilute it to american strength. Plus it cleans up 'very' easily. You can play around with the variables a bit and really home-in on the perfect cup.
  20. 2nd the aeropress. I bought it on a lark and it has seriously kicked @ss over every other coffee maker I've tried.
  21. Going w/the PO on black gator deployant strap. Double AR courtesy of K2222:
  22. Well, you can get the swiss one fixed by a watchsmith if it ever breaks. Plus the main gear wheels have a nice starburst finish on the swiss. And finally, there's the cool swan neck regulator on the swiss version that the asian version here doesn't have. Other than that, probably not too many differences
  23. Kinda looks like a tonka toy. Sorry, I'm not going to get one of these. Now a Graham Swordfish, that's a strange looking watch that I would definitely buy.
