  1. I wonder if it's a good sign for an improved 1019 rep, though I'd imagine that the demand for one is pretty low! Regardless of the apparent weaknesses of these prototypes, it's very encouraging to see that the Chinese factories are continuing to develop vintage pieces. I have to think that they're doing this in response to serious and sophisticated (also, good-looking) rep connoisseurs like ourselves. The average Joe on Canal Street (or Nigerian buyer in Guangzhou) won't care about any of the improvements over the last crop.
  2. If a bit of wear doesn´t bother you, then you CAN force the issue and jam 2mm bars in there. However, what happens to the bracelet is best illustrated by the great master Nanuq di Alaska: The 7206 on my Space-Dweller appears to have avoided this fate.

    6649 Band

Perhaps, but the asking price is at least double of what 6635s or 7205s (with original endlinks, to boot!) currently sell for. Maybe if it had one of those big logo clasps that are so damn in these days... By the way, can someone explain to me the difference -other than the stamping- between a 6635 and an expanding 7205?
  4. Coughing up blood with my smoking 1016:
  5. I'm not a 6541 fanatic, but it seems to match well with the straight-on picture of the 6541 on Maron's site (the one with the smooth bezel). Also, the new PT 6541 fixes the biggest sins of the MBK version i.e. the way-way-WAY-too-thick mid-case and caseback, and the extremely low crown position. Maybe I'm just dazzled by the Faraday cage! Also, does anyone know the visual differences between a 6541 and a 6543?
  6. Nice price, but keep in mind that's a smaller, 36mm Fifty Fathoms, and not as desirable. Reminds me of Ubi's Blancpain, though the case is different--and likely gen!
  7. Works for me! I don't usually do two-parters, but I'm going to chase my Bay City Rollers reference with one for Alphaville: "Big in Japan, tonight!"
  8. T-U-D-O-R-D-A-Y... NIGHT! T-U-D-O-R-D-A-Y... NIGHT! I-I-I-I-I just can't wait! I-I-I-I Oysterdate!
  9. This is a strange one. I bought a second 7206 expander for my Space-Dweller project back in July, and it came with Yuki 2mm bars pre-installed. These were not jammed in place, and were easily removed. From what I could tell, the endlinks were not deformed, and you can see pictures of them here. On a side note, Yuki has confirmed that their 7836 rep will not take 2mm bars.
  10. Good catch! As far as I know, that font was specific to GUB models before being resurrected for the GO Senator Sixties. I'm not clear if that's a factory-produced fake. But if it is, then those Poljot-made Tutimas gain an extra layer of irony!
  11. Greetings from Osaka: To quote M. Biver, "Take that sh*t off!"
  12. I always thought that Root Beer GMTs were just Pepsis that had been left out in the sun for too long...
  13. Ah, so you haven't seen his latest albino Daytona...
  14. southcoast68: Have you seen alligoat's albino 6239? It's not what you showed (lovely blue hands), but it's a good reminder that new things are popping up all the time. Freddy, your Pan-Am GMT looks much nicer and more genuine than that weird-o Sub--regardless of its provenance!
  15. Great eye, Freddy. I would've thought this genuine due to the signs of wear along the mid-links--this is not pristine like a Yuki 7206. Is it possible that these bracelets are indeed reps, but genuinely old? They're definitely 'reconstituted', though I can't understand why the factories couldn't churn out their own endlinks. (Note to China: 71s, please!) But you're right: Lots of odd listings out there.
  16. My Rolex obsession runs on two tracks: Not pictured are my $85 DRSD, my $30 14270, my mid-90s Ladies Datejust from a Hong Kong alley, or the $25 all-"gold" Daytona I bought for a Halloween costume.
  17. The last few Zodia-Chrons I've seen on eBay have sold for ~$1000. This one won't go quietly, I'm afraid.
  18. Take a look at this excellent 78350 comparison by wiesn089. The shape of the final mid-link -i.e. the one that lines up with the lugholes- is an easy tell, but you should also be able to judge your bracelet's bona fides by examining its stampings and comparing. The clasp coronet alone should give you enough to look at!
  19. Fathom THIS! (Seriously... that's the best I could come up with?)
  20. I've been eagerly awaiting this comparison, so thanks for taking the time and taking the chance on this new bezel. A couple of observations: To my eyes, your bezel looks different from the one on Yuki's website. The one on yukiwatch.com seems to have a finer font, but the giveaway is the flat 'S' on UNITS (which actually had me reaching for my credit card!). Also, see how the 'P' on PER aligns with the 'R' on HOUR on your bezel, but not on the display model. It's an improvement over the bezel in your "I was wrong!" post from way back, but the I think the Yuki listing shows something else entirely. I was also surprised to see how misaligned the DW insert sat in the bezel. Maybe I'm lucky, but I have never observed that problem on my 6263, purchased last December: The other thing I like about the DW bezel is the submerged printing at the bottom of the insert, though it does seem considerably 'deeper' than on a gen. The jutting 'lip' near 130-140 is an illusion caused by the gap between plastic and metal. The insert is actually flush: If I'm correct, this wouldn't be the first time that Yuki has shown one thing and sold another. (In my case, the switcheroo involved a matte 1016 dial, though returning it was painless.) I would really love a closer look at the bezel they're advertising...
  21. Try Mary at Watch International. I ordered a titanium GST from her earlier this year, and it arrived in great shape. However, I had to upgrade the day/date-wheels to genuine ETA units, as the rep wheels didn't look so great.
  22. Like Freddy, I don't have a gen 78350 to measure, but I agree with his observations. The degree of taper on the 7835 is much more severe--its narrowest link is just 12mm across.
  23. At last, it can be revealed! The way grooves in the subdials catch the light looks amazing. I really need to contact DW about that "ROLEX"-only black dial...
