  1. Classy looking piece, J. I hope your skin isn't allergic to leather after years of wearing metal!
  2. On steel, it has to be my Seamaster 300 franken on a folded-link 1171. I love vintage Rolex, but -then, as now- Omega kicked its butt in bracelet design.
  3. Nice job! Looks like all the bezel markings survived the trimming!
  4. Beautiful watch, Marty. The black Monza was my dream watch back in the day, before I was even into watches! The Monaco caught my attention, but my eyes quickly gravitated toward the model next to it. Then I saw the price and though that there was no way I would ever pay that much for a watch. I sort of wish I had, then! It's still beautiful. Your Dad must have cherished it.
  5. I paid just under $1700 for mine, which is in the upper end of the scale for second-hand LLDs. However, I was glad to pay the premium, as it was a face-to-face deal and the watch was in excellent condition. Also, I was having a hell of a time finding a No-Date version of the Diver. Unfortunately, the closest we've come to a Super Compressor rep is a very crappy looking IWC Vintage Aquatimer. (I think watcheden still carries it.) Alternatively, there's a French eBay seller (Lucawatch) who carries unbranded homages that sort of resemble the Polaris. Feedback has been good from guys who bought these. Finally, it's still possible to get genuine vintage Super Compressors for less than $500 (see listing #160494441861). But prices are rising. whoever: As PeteM points out, it's an Aqua Lung "Calypso" depth gauge, which I picked up a while back for my vintage Tropic rubber collection. Wish I had a Doxa to go with it, though...
  6. Thanks! There were more than a couple of threads covering this build -huge headache that it was- but these are the main ones: Mixed Results, followed by Getting Better. It took several months to get it running reliably and a lot of help from the guys here, but it was worth it. It's basically your standard DW 7750 build, with a gen bracelet, crystal, and crown. The only potential upgrade I'm mulling over is the bezel, after Freddy pointed out the new and improved Yuki unit.
  7. Here's my pictorial from last year. It took a few months of searching for the No-Date I wanted, but I eventually tracked one down in Singapore. It was worth the effort. I would only trade mine for a JLC Polaris! Bonus pics:
  8. 361s are a bit slimmer than 357s and are a bit loose between the lugs when the watch is unworn. However, they fit just fine on the wrist.
  9. Ranger's cousin et le Pont d'Avignon:
  10. All the problems involved in making a Monaco rep will apply to reps of the Silverstone, Autavia, and any number of Heuers from the 1970s. I'm not optimistic.
  11. Nothing exciting, just long exposure on passing traffic:
  12. Freddy, other than the spacing on the 110, are there any other ways in which the Yuki bezel is superior to DW's? I'm thinking back to the review of that insert (along with the Yuki 7205), and I seem to recall you weren't so keen on the printing quality on the Yuki bezel. Red Baron: Regarding the bracelet, wiesn089 made an excellent comparison of gen vs. DW vs. Yuki 78350s. Take a look.
  13. Those are some of the best photos of the Lazenby 6238 I've ever seen. I can finally see clearly the shorter pointer on the Blofeld-seeking red sweep. Also, I'm happy the riveted bracelet is confirmed by the photos. There's one scene in OHMSS where Bond is fiddling with some gadgets on his desk, and you can clearly see the old-style clasp and its protruding coronet.
  14. Great, I get to use this picture again: My 7032, which hit Italy in October:
  15. A foreign substance is introduced into our precious bodily fluids without the knowledge of the individual. Certainly without any choice. That's the way your hard-core commie works.
  16. The official watch of Proconsul Marcus Nonius Balbus.
  17. Thanks, Freddy! I wish I could have stayed a few days, but Capri can be very expensive! Wait... I´m now receiving word that I´ve inadvertently made a Charlie Sheen joke. Thanks a lot, Prsist... Red 30 on the GMT looks awesome!
  18. Space-Dweller in low orbit, looking down at the Mediterranean:
  19. If you can see the sides of the lugs, one of the easiest tells is the position of the lugholes. As far as I know, all of the rep Monte Carlos (NDT, J&W, Yuki, and now DW) have holes that are drilled too low on the lugs. This also makes me wonder how well 380 endlinks will fit on these reps.
  20. I'm sensing a pattern here:
  21. So, I'm guessing you really like Tudors, huh? Excellent collection, Justin! You just need more variety i.e. more Roses among the Shields!
