  1. I love the old Super Compressor divers from the 60s. This generation of Aquatimer is the best modern interpretation of that design, and yours is a stunner.
  2. Powershot: Beautiful pic of Alhambra! Unfortunately, during my visit, my camera was a dinky Kodak digicam. irontomkidd: This should've been the year that I go to Savannah, but a couple of friends canceled and nixed the road trip. I'm really loving this thread, as it gives me a good reason to go through the archives:
  3. 1996 Ladies Datejust: Wish I still had the TAG S/EL rep I bought at the same time, but it broke after a couple of weeks!
  4. Maybe RB wants to rehash 'The Mayer/Kamal 3CROC Debate'! This is why my Daytona reps have standard dials. I can pull off a $20,000 watch, sure, but $60,000 is really pushing it. I know, it's all in my mind...
  5. With the caveat that I can't see the picture that you posted (damn firewall)... I think that DW's is the best aftermarket dial available for the 7031/7032, and superior to offerings from NDT, Yuki, and J&W. The main flaw of the DW dial is that its subdials lack the dodecagonal indentation that the gens have. (Yes, I had to look up 'dodecagon'!) However, this is hard to notice from a distance and under most lighting conditions. Other than that, the orange minute numerals are too close to the rehaut, while the frame of the Tudor shield is thicker than on the gen. But this is really nitpicking! When I first got my DW 7032, what surprised me was how dark the dial looked compared to pictures of gens. I was later able to examine a 7169 and a Heritage up close, and confirm that the shade of gray was correct.
  6. I agree. Changing the the bezel should be lower on the priority list of upgrades, especially given the price of a replacement. If function is your main concern, change the crown/tube. If it's appearances, get a genuine 7835 or 78350 bracelet and beat up the case. But don't scratch that crystal!
  7. Well, he has enough weasel words in the listing to give him a bit of cover: "...might have been made for the Vatican." "...probably made for the Vatican." "It may have been made for one our Popes [sic]. If so it does not belong on ebay." (I love that last bit.) I don't know if he's committed a crime, but I want him excommunicated immediately.
  8. I'm at work right now, and can't see any pictures other than J's, but maybe the Ranger handset at Classicwatchparts is what you want?
  9. I think I've seen another Rolex that was made for the Vatican: The Dominus Pizza Air-King.
  10. I've never loved myself with an iPhone case, but that Louis Vuitton silk scarf might come in handy. I hope all of our US members remember to buy their Thanksgiving Day presents early! Because that's what Thanksgiving is all about: Presents!
  11. Sure, let me just get out from behind this workplace firewall and I'll send a copy over. You don't need all 4000x3000 pixels, do you?
  12. Unless he wants to take the train up to Shenzhen or Guangzhou, tell him not to bother. If the stuff you see from our trusted dealers is 'AAA' quality, then the reps on the streets of Hong Kong are about 'BB-' i.e. junk. And I really don't think he wants to be following shady guys up apartment buildings where he might be able to view overpriced 'A' quality reps!
  13. To mangle Bill Bunny: "Justifyin's got nothin' to do with it."
  14. Thanks, dluddy! The reflection was actually a bit of an accident; I had no idea it would shine so brightly.
  15. I'm as patient as the rest of you guys, so I've ordered a set, too! They're still a few weeks away, but I'll make a 3-way DW vs. CWP vs. Yuki comparison when I get them.
  16. I saw this one in Hong Kong last month, at Blancpain's Canton Road shop. It's a stunning piece in the metal, though I would much prefer owning the original.
