  1. That's what I'd call it, and I'm incorrigible! Other examples of integrated designs include the IWC Ingenieur SL, the AP Royal Oak, the Rolex Oysterquartz, the VC Overseas, and much, much more.
  2. Nice! Excalibur, or a different kit? Good watch, too. The Lemania-powered Re-edition of the original Carrera is very nice, too. Always a bit pricier than I'd like, though...
  3. Thanks! I forgot to finish my comment on your blue Snowflake, and left things sounding a bit ambiguous. Your Tudor looks great! As does B's 7031 above! So many great vintages on RWG lately.
  4. That must've been some accident, R. Can't get enough of this Sub. Babe.
  5. Awesome, db2! Like ZK, I have also shet myself.
  6. No running seconds takes some getting used to, but it does make sense. Sort of... Shame about your Carrera, though. It really looks the business, but I suppose part of the fun of 70s Heuers are the 70s colors!
  7. Well, this is embarrassing. I've been referring to my Carrera as a Cal.11 for the past couple of months without even taking a look inside. I finally got the caseback off tonight: The golden plates mean Caliber 12. As does the helpful engraving "Cal. 12". This is a 21600bph movement, but I'll admit that -unless I see them side-by-side- I can't spot the difference between 5.5bps and 6bps. I Unfortunately, this means that I can no longer call it a '69--it's a 1971 production at the earliest. The upside is that Cal.12 is the superior movement.
  8. I was half-expecting to see an HEV on its left side!
  9. Mm... 321. And here's the watch that didn't make the cut at NASA:
  10. I think this is best left to the seller's gut instinct and threshold of courtesy. I don't see any benefit in compiling a list of guys who join the forums, low-ball a few high-priced frankens, then leave the rep scene a few weeks later.
  11. Somewhere, on Utheman's beach, there's a wisenheimer asking, "Aren't the subdials on the Moon a bit too far apart?"
  12. Thanks, B! There's a pretty talented bunch of snappers here on RWG.
  13. As with the Pininfarina one-offs (P4/5, Superfast Aperta, &c...), if Ferrari didn't make it, then it's not a Ferrari.
  14. Sweet rose, woof*! And that's nice insert you got on it, too. For Saturday, it's a Rush'n'Attack:
  15. Thanks, guys! It's one of my favorites, and it really does reserve some more wrist time. From me, I mean!
  16. I would have commented earlier, but I couldn't see the pictures at work. What's the source for your case? The sides of the mid-case are a bit slab-sided, more like a Sub or a Milgauss, and I'm wondering if you could save yourself a lot of hard labor by getting a more Datejust-like case. As alligoat suggests, do take measurements of the outside of the rehaut and the inside of the bezel. If the rehaut diameter is correct (29.5mm), then I do urge you to get a bezel from jmb. No, he doesn't send me a small check for each one he sells, but I do like seeing them on 1016 builds! I agree that the dial's an MBW. 'SWISS MADE' aside, it's excellent, and probably the best Explorer dial under $200, given the stuff that Yuki now sells. (Space-Dweller dials are another matter, though.) Good luck, and I hope to see future updates!
  17. You and miquel would have the right of first refusal, but it's a moot point: This one's a keeper! I'm holding onto it until the end of my days, or passing it onto any children I might discover.
  18. I was too busy keeping an eye on young Carey Lowell's goodies.
  19. Thanks, N. That means a lot coming from a most righteous dude like yourself!
  20. Not ordered very neatly, but here goes: -You should be able to find a gen 703 crown from many sources, including Yuki, if he's still got some in stock. You don't want to buy pushers from Yuki, though, as both Ofrei and Cousins sell excellent screwdowns for less. Clark Watch Parts also carries a set for even less, but I don't know anyone who's tried them. They look similar to the more expensive units, but it's hard to tell for sure based on the tiny pictures. -I'm also particular about the tall markers, but the I find the Yuki's subdials a bit flat and featureless. I would go with ingod44 if I wanted an exotic, and one of DW's older dials if I preferred standard models. His newer batch has good print quality, but weird-looking subdials. Never tried NDT, but it and Phong are also possible sources. -You should be able to find V23/72 stems from various sellers, but make sure you get a Rolex-compatible Tap 10 (i.e. 0.9mm). -If you can afford a Phong case set, it's the best way to go for high accuracy and low hassle. However, I find DW's bezels to be superior, even if you do have to sand the inner edge. Bit of a V72 franken renaissance going on right now!
  21. You're probably right, but how perverse is it that I walked away thinking, "Oh crap... I bet they noticed the lugholes, the squarish profile of the case, and the hard edge under the bezel. THEY'RE ALL GONNA LAUGH AT ME!!!" Actually, one of the guys, upon first seeing the MBW, went slack-jawed, then examined it closely in his hand for a good two minutes. Then he offered an exchange: My 5512 for his Triple-Six, plus a check to make up the difference. I eventually let him in on the secret, but it would have been a hoot to have seen him bring it to the RSC for authentication. However, he wasn't offering enough for me to jet to Brazil and live off of my ill-gotten gains.
  22. If I recall the article correctly (since I certainly don't remember the watch he was wearing while driving a Land Rover into the Mediterranean), the TAG had a white face. Didn't Dalton wear a transitional Sub in other scenes?
