  1. "Deploy, damn you! Deploy!"
  2. Spectacular effort, justlounging, and a beautiful pair of Explorers.
  3. There's one in the "American Pan AM Museum". It's right next to the "Something for you... Something for my crews" letter!
  4. Where's my $200 minute repeater? (Starts waiting for some wiseguy to post a link to a Citizen Eco-Drive...)
  5. Thanks, guys! tr415: Those Lemania-powered TAG reissues from the late 90s were beautifully designed watches, and very faithful to the originals. More recently, TAG put out a 40th anniversary "Jack Heuer" edition that mixed styling cues from the first- and second-gen Carreras. The result was disappointingly plain.
  6. Have you tried getting a quote from Omega itself? I know it's no longer a USD 400 maximum charge for a full-on Bienne restoration (more likely they ask for double that), but it would be good to get a baseline.
  7. Update! Lately, I've been getting nervous about wearing the Corfam strap on a regular basis. Not only is that pleather strap more expensive than many high-end reps, but it's also starting to show a few signs of wear. The material itself has been holding up pretty well, but the back is showing signs of delamination. Not only that, but the black dye is wearing off on the edges of the keeper, leaving the Corfam looking a grayish beige. Is there a way of restoring this strap without using dangerous chemicals from DuPont? Anyway, here's my nouveau-retro solution: A TAG-Heuer "Heuer" deployant (as seen on the Monaco and Silverstone re-editions) and a generic perforated strap: Maybe the big, honkin' HEUER is a little bit gaudy, but I do need a little bit of flash to compensate for the loss of the "wet-look" pleather! It's also hard to beat the convenience of a single-fold deployant. Looks like the Corfam is staying in the vault for a spell...
  8. Ask donerix how much one of his croco-bunds will cost you. I think you'd be surprised to find out that "custom" doesn't necessarily mean breaking the bank!
  9. Fantastic, Valty! You're very lucky to have those two dials, as DW's last batch wasn't nearly as nice.
  10. Ah, I love a good resurrection. Thanks, guys! jeff g: My wrist is a 6.5", so the FF is near the upper end of what I can credibly pull off. I find it less cumbersome than most Panerais. red: The Tropic is back on the Longines Diver, so the Blancpain's been on a plain-looking NATO for the past week. Good call on the mesh!
  11. In case you don't already have it, DW's website is at www.dw-watches.tk. The 7032 kit (sans movement) can be found under the "RWG Specials" tab. In the early days of this kit, DW offered a few fully built watches, which included the Valjoux 7734. Unfortunately, DW is in the process of winding down his rep business, so even the kit alone will soon be harder to find. Alternatively, you could try Spinmaster to see if he will sell you a fully built 7032. He's done a few for several members here.
  12. Thanks, dluddy! That was a tougher shot than it might look, given how unsteady the ride was. The suspension could use some improvements! That was my first time riding an elephant, and probably my last, if I can help it...
  13. No date on this Seamaster. I've got a memory like an...
  14. Nice one, mir36! Depending on which Italian expert you speak to, there were also two red variants of the PN: White subdials on red and black subdials on red. Bona fides of both types are still in dispute. Both dials may still be available from DW.
  15. I love walnuts!!! Double Reds, too. Greetings from Shadaloo:
  16. Brr... that's a nice Snowflake. Congratulations, R! Heuer Wednesday:
  17. The 288K is a lot like Santa: It's got presence!
  18. I think you're right about the Poljot. Check out slickdick's 3133-powered Daytona in this thread.
  19. Superb, R! What a beatiful pair of Subs you've got.
