  7. First off, when did you get that cartel auto? On the two cartel cases I have, the bezel does not have that high a drop. Next, regarding DSN and his low-profile bezels, It is a P.I.A. to get them from him. He will say no problem, and quote you the price. But half the time he sends you a manual case bezel, and then when you tell him it is the wrong bezel, and send along a pic showing it not fitting his auto case, he will say sorry only bezel I have and usually not even offer a credit or exchange. Needless to say, it is quite frustrating ONE VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: The DSN bezel will NOT fit onto most later Cartel cases, they use a completely F"d up type of case set. Also, I believe not all bezels are the same, when it comes to gen PAMs. The older series auto case bezels don't look much like the later ones. All that being said, a correct low-profile bezel from DSN, does look much better than the standard ones , especially the Titanium ones. Some examples of a transplanted bezel (all replaced with DSN low-profile ones): And for nostalgia, an old DSN 089 bezel. The cartel titanium cases had the same ones.:
  8. Ah, mcsherry dials I do know about. Just never seen them referred to as "Ross dials" Thx
  9. Good question, a search for "Ross dial" only brings up this thread.
  10. I just came back to visit this thread, as I'm about to buy another 192, and want to add some info. First comment is about Lani's remark about the gen caseback being the same colour as the case. Lani, did you look at the picture you posted? It certainly looks to be lighter than the case, more like Titanium, which it may very well be (I remember reading somewhere that they had to use Ti for the case back, as there was a problem with getting the Tantalum threading cut. Next comment. I've gathered a few pics of gen 192 and 172 PAMs, and all of their cases are much lighter than an Oxidized Ti case. They are just slightly darker than Titanium. In fact the one in the pic Lani posted is probably the darkest I've seen. I've attached some more pics of gens.
  11. Bloody He!l, at 52mm, try your belt
  12. Without bead blasting is good for me, but the gen ones do seem to look a bit darker and greyer - perhaps it is just aging.
  13. Sorry, regarding the Ti ones, are you referring to the next batch? Or was there a problem with the first one? As I thought the Ti crowns were ready a couple weeks before the SS ones had been scheduled to ship. Confused ???
  14. I know you can get the regular Luminor case strap tubes from these two outlets, but never new you could get the smaller Rad ones. Thanks for the tip.
  15. Do you speak Chinese, or know someone who could be hired as an interpreter for initial business introductions and quotes? Also doing some market research in regards to types of goods you think will be in demand (always good if it is something you are familiar with, or very enthusiastic about), and quantities you'll be dealing with, before making contacts. The type of rep you'll want to make contact with, will depend a lot upon the quantities you'll be able to commit to purchasing. Just some thing basic things you should probably have a better idea of before trying to establish contact with manufacturers or wholesalers ....
  16. I can always use a backup for my blackbard solid aluminum case back remover (which has been doubling as a hammer), so mark me down for one
  17. Did all genuine PAMs come with Sapphire crystals, or did some of the earlier series come with mineral?
  18. Pretty hard to miss the seconds wheel, as it sticks out the top of the movement Honestly though, if you don't which wheel it is, or how to remove it, I would send it to someone with at least beginners knowledge on repairing the 6497. So many things can go wrong getting at it, then shortening the pinion, then putting it all back together. So unless you are more than willing to sacrifice a movement, pay someone else to do this. If you do want to do it yourself, buy a used movement and practice on it first. There is a flash video of a 6497 disassembly and assembly in the resource area of the forum (sorry, don't have the link handy).
  19. You have to remove the seconds wheel, then cut the pinion so it doesn't extend past the top of the movement plate, but not too short or it will not seat properly in the jewel.
  20. Were these just the prototypes, or is this what we'll be getting when we receive our current orders? Just hoping that the over polishing that kbiz mentions may be rectified with the batch that is being sent out (1 more week for Ti, 3 weeks for SS).
  21. I'm not really trying to match cases to the right model/series. I was just wondering what the gen manual cases (pre-H) are actually shaped like. The only gen ones I get to see up here (Toronto), are the later series. I do however have two types of rep case sets, that are very different in look. Let's call them Type A and Type B. Each has the following unique characteristics: Type A: Bezel is usually lower profile, but much wider. The above results in what seems to be a wider case. Type B: Bezel is not as wide, but is much higher. This case gives a more 'cone like' appearance. At first, I believed that all cases were like Type A, and those that looked like Type B in pictures had been shot in Macro mode.... Type A would be more like the 3rd case in this pic, Type B more like the 2nd. I guess I should dig out the callipers and double-check to see if there is actually a difference in size between the two types.
  22. To further show what I'm asking about, here are two pics of gens. The first, a 195, appears to have a flatter and wider bezel than the second, an 061. The 061 bezel appears to be steeper in height and not as wide as the one on the 195. Is this merely the effect of the lens used when taking the pics?
  23. How has the PAM manual wind case changed throughout the years? Excluding the lugs, our rep cases vary quite a bit, as you can see by the pics I've included below. One of the major differences between rep cases, besides the lug shapes, is the overall bezel height and shape. As many gen pics are taken using Macro mode, their pics can be distorted, not showing an accurate representation of the shape of the bezel/case. So what I'd like to know, is whether the older (Pre-H) manual cases and bezels where like the modern ones, or if they had steeper, or even flatter bezels on them. How else did they differ? Any pics (undistorted by Macro mode) would be nice
  24. I think the Ultimate hour hand is the one you want, not the standard rep hour hand. And, yes, this would apply to all GMT PAMs. The gen hand sets also have a larger base (area around collar that pushes onto the post).
