I was thinking of ordering some ETA 7750 black day/date wheels from cousins but the postage is quite expensive so if any other Australian members what to get a group buy organized and share the postage costs then please post here. Also if any other Australian members want white day/date wheels for the Tag Aquaracer now would be a good time to get them. Please state your name and whether you want black or white or both Thanks LIST of members: 1 - Ajoesmith, both black and white

Is 21j Asian movement a copy of Miyota 8215?
ajoesmith replied to bklm1234's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
maybe this has been answered before but does the chinese 2813 movement hack?? I know the Miyota doesnt, the DG2813 is a clone of it so i presume it also doesnt hack either does anyone know? -
can you post it here?
-
From my end it doesn't work
-
On the contrary my dear Pugwash, I have. Still over rated, i think
-
Pix my friend the movement is already available from Ofrei and Cousins UK for a mere $10!! Stock up now for your SOSF for life!! Forget the servicing!!! EDIT: Even better put in a Miyota 8215, easy swap as the hand sizes are the same - Its bullet proof!
-
For a third of the price the Asian one is surely a bargain and it even has some AR. I honestly think AR is way over-rated anyway
-
Really nice but i think you need a little help
-
Well i have the IWC pilot 3717 with the slow beat Asian 7750, so called unreliable movement but let me tell you its a beauty and movement works great. I made a post before about the movement being different from previous Asian 7750 slow beat movements I also went to the local watch store in Brisbane and tried it on and its a beauty but the price is crazy AU$7495 for the SS strap model and around AU$5000 for the Leather strap model. My advice, buy the slow beat rep for one of the 'collectors' here and replace it with a Genuine Swiss ETA 7750. Thats what im doing. EDIT: Forgot to say, you can also get the Asian rep of the SOSF from silix at $100 - Bargain! and all in a teachers salary!!
-
Well Silix has it now for $100, how can anyone pass that up??? I think it does have AR on the Asian model just not as strong as the ETA model
-
I have been considering for a while about buying the Breitling SOSF with ETA movement, however i have been reading that the Asian movement version is basically the same except for the movement and lack of strong AR. Some people have said that 'if the Asian movement breaks what are you going to do as there are no spares'. Well im going to buy the Asian version, Why? becasue i recently bought the Asian Chopard GT and its unbelievably fantastic for $75. AND because to service an ETA, if it needs it, will be probably $80-$100 depending on who does it. If i buy the Asian one and its fails then i can completely replace the movement, cheaply (about $10) and easily (I can do it myself). Its a DG2813 which can be bought at Cousins UK or Ofrei easily and im sure other places as well. http://www.cousinsuk.com/default.aspx?disp...roductid=462411 http://www.ofrei.com/page1119.html (4th one from the top) I mean really who cares what movement is in the watch as long as if functions as it should and lasts a relatively long time (especially on closed case back models). If the Asian movement reps are getting to the same quality as the ETA movement reps but more than half the price, i know what im buying. Do you think we are all too hung up on 'ETA' movements? or is it just because, at the minute, they are available and spares are easy to come by?
-
I think its just the lighting If you look very closely between the date window and the 2 o'clock hour marker, in the shadow of the minute hand you can see the lines, very faint but they are there. Also in between the 19 and 20 hour numbers the lines are just visible.

stupid question....why has noone taken a venus (or copy) movement
ajoesmith replied to cableguy's topic in The Rolex Area
There is already a venus based rep available of the daytona but daytona nuts here wont settle for anything other than a cal 23 or cal 72 movement -
Simple question Can it be done? If so how? tried searching but came up with nothing cheers

I saw the gen today all three colours and the rep looks pretty much exactly the same. A great watch. Its a pity i have to sell my watches these days for Uni fees. -

Hi just got this last week and immediately tried to put on a different strap. I read somewhere that someone said you couldn't use the rep deployment for some reason. Well i did and its easy to change the straps if you want The deployment is held to the strap by a screw. see the 3rd last picture. simply unscrew it and the strap comes off, put your new strap on and screw the screw back in, simple! Its a great watch, but with a really loud rotor, a fixed that with some grease. No noise at all now! Sorry for the bad pics

ETA 2872 for Breitling 2824 replacement
ajoesmith replied to poopypants's topic in The Breitling Area
If the hand sizes are the same and the thickness of the movement is the same as the eta 2824 then i see no reason why it wouldnt work -
Help needed: how to remove this ETA movement
ajoesmith replied to vmena's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Point taken, however i have come across a few reps where the screws have been on the outside on the movement holder. I suppose its the quality issue with reps -
IWC 3717 slow beat asian movement - Pics Uploaded
ajoesmith replied to ajoesmith's topic in The IWC Area
ah no From what i can see is that yes, the plates are different, so maybe there is a nonther factory producing the slow beat 7750 movement. Im sorry about the pics, my camera has a macro focus distance of 15cm - crap!! Ive looked very closely and the overall finish is definitely much, much better than the other one in the picture. Fingers crossed its reliable -
Cos i cant find it on the web!
