  1. BKLM1234, Sead, and Vaccum are three modders on this board who buy watches direct from the factories, modify them for improvements and then sell them to members "as new with mods" They are not high volume dealers, they do not have big web stores. You pay a premium over factory standard price, for their expertise and their time.
  2. We won't know how the factory disabled the seconds pinion until someone sees it for themselves. Maybe it will be OK and maybe it will be half-assed.
  3. All this time seeing Z's avatar and I never knew it was his own drawing/painting. A multi-talented fellow. And this thread just points out that talented watch technicians are not always talented lume artists. Maybe someone is a highly skilled mechanical artisan but needs practice on their brush work. No shame in this. Just know a particular modders strong and weak points then hire them accordingly.
  4. It could be out of beat. A very minor adjustment but you need a professional timing machine. When a watch is out of beat, it is difficult for it to start running.
  5. Rolex strictly controls dssd parts. Last time I heard, gen watches all had to be sent to Switzerland even for the most trivial service. Maybe you can find gen parts. I doubt it tho. And yes, rep bracelets are lasered.
  6. You are wearing it. Clean it, lube it properly, and you will be very pleased. Use dry lubricant for bicycle chains.
  7. So someone can send you a watch in the mail for the purpose of having you fined or jailed? I think we each need to send members of your parliament a few watches to show them the dark side of this fascist law. Btw it's not communism when the government places the rights of a corporation above those of actual people. It is the original and correct definition of fascism.
  8. But you did not order a watch. You ordered some funny sunglasses.
  9. A manual wind watch requires 40 turns to fully wind it. Not "a few turns". You have not wound your watch, and are wondering why it will not run.
  10. I assumed since he quoted my humorous/sarcastic reply that he was also joking ... don't know.
  11. The asian or swiss 775x series has over 200 parts. It is commonly accepted that to have a long-term reliable watch with this movement it is necessary to have a full service done by a watchsmith who knows the movement .. not just anyone.. Add it to the cost of your watch when you consider buying one. That's why I never recommend this complex and temperamental movement to newbies. They can not wrap their head around the need to service what they falsely consider a new and ready to go movement. It's simply not. Once you have it back from it's visit to the watch doctor you can enjoy it for years to come.
  12. There are two kinds of hand sweep. One type sees the hand move smoothly throughout the hour, as it proceeds around the dial. The other kind of movement is a rapid jump from hour to hour with no sweeping action at all. Click it's 1 o'clock, click it's 2 o'clock, click it's 3 o'clock
  13. Really? I find that rubber straps make my wrist sweat.
  14. Have you never visited the OTHER DEALERS area? That is its purpose.
  15. It seems that the replica is embossed paper on a metal backing. It does have shiny ghost numerals like the Gen but the ghost numerals are nowhere near as luminous.
  16. I was going to say the same thing .. did you reduce the color intensity on the white dimple dial UN? It has a monochromatic style that suits the overall image. Good work
  17. Hello and welcome to the forum! There is no such thing as a Swiss made replica. Replicas are hated in Switzerland, and any factory making them would be burned to the ground and all the people inside shot. All replicas are made in Asia. China, Thailand, Taiwan .. Any web site that says they have Swiss replicas can not be trusted. They are liars. There are Franck Muller tourby replicas .. but I have never seen a "Croco" replica. http://www.yourtrustytime.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=25_334&products_id=6234
  18. It certainly sounds as if your stem is too short, as you suspect.
  19. The vintage Rolex watches have hollow link bracelets and weight almost nothing. I could wear my 1680 for days.
  20. Just in case someone can not tell on their own .. there is a translation problem in that Speedy description on Mary's web site .. it says "self winding" but it is a manual wind movement .. you have to "wind it yourself" .. And just FYI Mary's site does not represent all the watches she can get. It's just there for non Forum members to find and use. She can get any watch available since she goes to the watch bazaar and hand-picks pieces for her customers. Don't buy from her site, either. Always email her directly and explain that you are a Forum member and there is a chance you will be charged a little less than the web site price. I can't guarantee that, tho.
