  1. Six seconds a day is considered very good for a mechanical watch. Even a $10,000 mechanical watch. If this bothers you very much, you have no choice but to wear a battery powered watch. You can not buy a perfect mechanical watch. Once a day, pull out the crown for six seconds! Also store your watch overnight with the crown pointing to the ceiling. This position makes a mechanical watch run more slowly. If you do this, it might only gain 3 seconds a day. Storing a watch overnight with the crystal facing the ceiling makes a watch run faster.
  2. Very good work! Congratulations to you on your fix. To find if the rotor now winds the mainspring, spin the watch a few hundred times in your hand and watch the power reserve. This watch needs 1000 spins for full winding.
  3. She has posted images of her test bench, with commercial multi-hook winder for running a watch a couple days before shipment. She's also posted that she has a watchsmith on-premises. http://www.rwg.cc/to...h-international Im curious how you think any dealer could QC a watch so it does not physically break in the future. The most important thing here is that a trusted dealer will offer to take it back and repair it. Unfortunately it is customary to foot the shipment bill yourself. Oftentimes it is best to have the piece serviced in your own country and call it a day.
  4. Wow I cant believe that such a valuable member of the community is locked out in the cold!
  5. Katt's Watch repair is in the midwest, and is trusted over on the RWI forum. I have used him several times and find him to be friendly, prompt and talented. shoot him an email at GKLONER at GMAIL dot COM
  6. I've missed your "100 straps for sale" posts over the last six months, Donerix .. are you very busy with other projects?
  7. Welcome to the Forums! Enjoy your new hobby and read everything you can.
  8. Today was a Bell & Ross day ...
  9. Mary is one of the original "personal shopper" type dealers, who goes out and hand-picks watches for you from the watch bazaar. To call her a drop-shipper is the height of absurdity. She pioneered "QC photos" back when a cartel dealer would tell you to drop dead if you asked for a picture. Really now; come on.
  10. Many times the dealer photos do no justice to a watch and when you see it in a video or a forum members photos it is surprisingly good.
  11. You should search in the Omega area for this exact build .. more than one person here has ordered a complete New-Old Stock watch from Australia in pieces and assembled it to form a "genuine" completely new vintage watch.
  12. It feels like a Steelfish day today.
  13. The fatter arm with the single stud and the screw should never be moved unless you have a Time-o-graph machine and are setting the "Beat" The thin arm with the two gold pins is the regulation arm. Your watch should be well out of beat now and may not run at all.
  14. Why don't you just send it to be repaired. The cost of tracked shipment to China TWO times?? Get it regulated and a new stem and forget about a 2nd trip to China.
  15. The lever with the large gold screw is the very very rough adjustment, and it will actually prevent the watch from running if moved too far in either direction. The lever with two gold pins is for fine adjustments. If you have an iphone or an ipad with a decent plug-in mic, you can purchase the App called "Kello" which is a Jr. time-o-graph
  16. That's the only real way to learn. Read everything you can ... and you are welcome.
  17. Happy Birthday, thogaa! Your sig photo always makes my children laugh. Today was 1680 day.
  18. If someone destroyed my $2500 item and then sent me a cheeky photo of their handiwork, I would fly to their house .. not in a plane .. I would jump there in 1 go, and make them eat the pieces. and I've just noticed that I've cruised past 4000 posts without noticing.
  19. On the main page of this web forum, there is a complete list of trustworthy replica dealers. Look at Perfect Clones, Trusty Time, Watch Eden ... etc etc etc .. they are all listed there.
  20. You don't have to ship a watch for being un-regulated .. besides, the rough treatment by the postal services can throw it out of regulation so there would be no point to do this. If you lost 5 minutes overnight, I assume it will lose 15 minutes a day, so the watch is probably out of beat and needs to be on a time-o-graph machine for proper alignment. Where are you in the World?
  21. Be aware that Chinese New Year can and does hold up packages for close to a month, this time of year. Expect the worst and maybe you will be nicely surprised.
  22. Why not drive round bar stock into the large holes .. then re-drill them. Seems like the obvious answer. edit: and JMB answered before I could
  23. An "Asia 21j" movement is a Chinese clone of the respected Japanese Miyota/Citizen watch movements.
