Only bother the mod gods for things which require godlike skills. Everything else, send to talented but ordinary modders/techs.
Rymeister, I'm not familiar with the normal repair people in the eurozone but I'm sure many people are and will point you in the right direction.
Why send a keyless to the northern spa when his schedule is sooooo overpacked?
Just FYI this time of the year, stores are full of new- hires who know next to nothing about anything. It's the holiday season and most people you meet in a store were just hired 2 or 3 weeks ago.
They operate on a skeleton crew all year to make as much profit as possible then hire loads of new people for the holidays only.
Where are you in the World? These troubles are something a good watch repair guy can take care of in an hour or so ... Im talking about Gen crown/tube and also keyless repair.
Don't try it yourself, especially when you can't fix the crown and tube yourself! Get it fixed all at once by a reapir guy in your country or close-by ... you'll be much happier.
Don't send it back. Buy the insanely cheap gen crown and tube. You'll be very happy. While its being installed, the watchsmith can reset your keyless works.
You will have arrived as a true rep hobbyist when you accept that it's not about receiving a perfect watch. You say "I can work with this!"
Aren't all GMT IIc reps the same factory? Noobfactory ... there's only one high quality GMT IIc rep, in a21j, Clone and ETA .. same watch .. same factory.
I know nothing about climbing but don't LCD displays freeze and fail in cold temps? I watched an Everest documentary on Netflix and they mentioned -100F as a possibility.
Won't the Casio display go solid silver/gold and be blank at relatively cold temps? I'm thinking the phone will too.
I was very impressed by it's remoteness .. The city is remote enough then you have to walk a week to get to the base of the mountain. Wild stuff.
It is general wisdom that for $18 you can buy a new dg4813 and replace it .. dont service it. If the hand wheels heights on the watch are different from the DG4813 you receive then move the wheels over as well.
There are dealers who operate informational mailing lists as well. You won't get 12 months advance notice from one of those mailers, but you'll get good "coming soon" info.
I think it's fantastic .. the two issues with *all* Noobfactory GMT .. the bezel detentes feel like they could be a lot more "precise" and unfortunately the ETA and ETA clone movement GMT "hack" can wear out rather quickly and cause the GMT hand to slip.
Good thing you have the a21j version, which does not have this problem.
To fix the ETA/Clone issue, the best course of action is to buy a real ETA GMT movement and swap it in.
TS claims to be a noobfactory wholesaler and offers good prices on noob watches. The TT gmt2c they sell is the noobfactory model in a21j, clone and Swiss eta. The ss model in a21j is only 72$, if I remember correctly.
