  1. If it's all scratched up, then ask if he does case re-finishing as well, and have him polish/brush that thing back to new condition.
  2. The 3 finger bridge is what makes this Elgin movement special. Instead of a solid plate for the wheel train, it's been replaced by 3 floating finger bridges, which almost completely expose the wheels. Thank you for your kind words, btw.
  3. It's an Elgin Napoleon in a hunter style 25yr Illinois Case Co. case, ca1902 by the serial number. I picked it up at an antiques trade show which was open to the public, about 10 year ago.
  4. Looking at the pictures, I felt bad that the case was so grubby and took a nice Cape Cod cloth to the gold and ..... YES my camera has purple bloom around highlights .. it's 7 years old .. sue me
  5. This watch can be easily waterproofed if there is no serious flaw in the case. Have a Forum modder do it for you .. if you can find a local watch smith who owns a waterproof testing machine, then pay the few dollars to have it tested .. you never know, maybe it's a good one. I just spent 3 days in Miami Beach swimming in the ocean with mine, and it's perfectly fine .. 2 years in the water and no leaks yet.
  6. Someone else's post of their IWC (Illinois Watch Co) piece made me remember I had this in a bag in the closet ... I keep meaning to have it serviced. The hands are blued, and only appear to be black. I love the subtle etchings all over the plates and the delicate silver flowers inlaid on the dial.
  7. I don't know if he has any more of these, but The Zigmeister used to advertise these exact vintage PAM case w/vintage USA watch movements installed, in addition to his normal watch servicing business.
  8. It's 42KHz which is in fact "ultrasonic" .. a lot of inexpensive cleaners only vibrate at 10K ... which is more of a vibrator For 19 dollars shipped in the CONUS ... why not try it? I've bought one for myself and one for my Mother since she was coveting mine. I run either water/windex mix or water/1 small drop of liquid dish soap and run 4 or 5 cycles in a row.
  9. Beautiful! My wife was "cleaning" and swept away the case back screws and one bracelet post/screw from mine while I was regulating it ...
  10. While it's true that pearlage on an "ETA" movement in a replica watch normally means that it's a Seagull clone, there are two flags which tell me otherwise: 1 - Gold-filled engraving on the winder plate; no way Seagull does this. 2 - The reversing wheels are not mostly hidden beneath the winding plate; a common tell IF it were a Seagull. So I am going to give this one a
  11. One of the arms in my keyless was slightly bent, and that caused it to continually break on it's own. The Katt inspected it, and replaced the part after discovering the problem.
  12. Ken is an awesome dealer here on the Forum. He will ONLY sell something if it's top quality. You need to find a photo of the softgoods you are looking for, and PM or email the pic to him.
  13. I am just back from vacation in Miami Beach, and in the hotel elevator, there was a very smartly dressed man with an LV suitcase on a rolling rack and a beautiful PAM 190 on his wrist. He was staring at the button panel in the elevator so hard I thought lasers would shoot out of his eyes and destroy the control box. There was no way in hell he intended to acknowledge or speak to me.
  14. The grey center piece of the DSSD case back is not the part you need to turn. It's the outer silver ring. Trying to spin the center while the outside is tight will only tear the gasket.
  15. So your hands-bluing experiment was only a partial success then? Only the case blued.
  16. Very nice!! It is still dirty from the factory, tho .. use a microfiber cloth and rub it down to get off the grease and grit.
  17. Looks great, but larger pics please?? I normally admonish people or posting 4000 pixel images .. Im not used to asking for BIGGER pics
  18. The normal ETA or ETA clone movements are "the best" non-chronograph movements. The one you are asking about is not a good choice.
  19. Mary is one of the smallest Dealers and can be thought of more like a custom shopper. If you send her photos and a description of what you want, she will go out into the watch bazaar areas of the City to search for something to fill your order. She can also try and buy spare parts for you, directly from the rep factories. There is a Watch International web site, but it's basically just a copy and paste of someone else's web site, and simply there to give her some small web presence.
  20. Beautiful! Try and punch up the gold color of the hands in your next photos.
  21. Tritium readily bonds to oxygen, creating a radioactive water molecule.
  22. This is a quartz watch. No display back.
