  1. That's correct. FxrAndy has (had??) access to silver date wheels which correct this. I have one here in front of me which needs installing.
  2. Since no one has mentioned it yet, there are 200 little parts in that 7750 .. it's never a good idea to pop one open casually.
  3. Thanks for offering these, Vac. Good luck with sales. Everyone knows you do top-notch mod work for the Community.
  4. Someone posted a MAP of the MBK a few months ago with Na Piek circled .. the best place for vintage reps, I think. It's on the first floor. You have to ask to see them.
  5. I am ... everyone with a stock 1680 has this issue. I have a clark on mine and it's still not correct at all. You have to tilt the watch to the Left to see the date.
  6. Bottom line? The factories don't care. They are not driven craftsmen .. they want to make something they can sell you, and spend the least to make it as is possible. Why develop and produce a clone ETA 7750 or 7753 movement with 200 internal parts but never clean them before installation so that they arrive in your watch full of metal chips, HAIR and LETTUCE LEAVES? (not kidding here)
  7. I had never heard of you before this, but you seem to be an A #1 service guy! Thanks for being a part of our community.
  8. I have had my DSSD tested when it was serviced, to be sure it's waterproof .. I shower with it on and MAN is it clean and shiny when I get out. You can also use Cape Cod metal polishing cloths on it to chemically clean it .. be very gentle on the bracelet tho since the cloth is a polishing cloth and will wear away the "brushed" finish !! Just get the cleaning chemical on there and only rub hard on the mirror polished surfaces.
  9. The POrikka is a great 42mm starter rep, but is only available in Asia 21j movements, not the better Asian ETA clone copies or genuine ETA. The A21j series are good movements but suffer terribly from hit n miss QC .. you either get it and it runs great or you get it and it sucks. Buying from Narikaa in this case is a plus since he hand picks his reps personally in Asia. FYI the 45mm Planet Ocean version called the Ultimate PO (upo) accepts all gen parts. You can slap on as many real Omega parts as your wallet lets you until it's just a replica case and movement .. all else is gen.
  10. A common complaint among new people here is against the suggestion that the more complex movements need a complete service upon arrival. I hope your efforts go a long way towards explaining to them in irrefutable terms as to WHY that is. Thanks for your irreplaceable contributions, Rob. ttyl JK
  11. In my opinion, the silver bracelet washes out the impact of the white dial, whereas the brown leather makes it pop.
  12. It's beautiful! I pulled the trigger 3 days ago on a folded bracelet for mine, from Mary. It's in the mail
  13. There are some pinned posts for newbs .. read up and you'll get the hang of things pretty fast. I came here for Bell & Ross and learned I liked a LOT of brands I never even knew about. So do yourself a favor .. look at a lot of stuff while you're here .. you never know what you don't know! The View New Posts thing in the upper right corner of almost every screen is your friend. We get about 140 new posts every day around here and the shortcut to seeing them all is right there.
  14. Welcome to the board! There's no need to travel to China to buy reps; there are many "trusted" dealers here on this forum who sell direct to you. From China to NY in a week or two .. not a bad deal, and all merchants here are approved by the forum to be above board. No scams or lies. If you look at the main forum page, there are a lot of dealers listed there in their own "storefronts" The main watch replica city in China as far as I am aware is Guangzhou. Look here for a traveler's story .. Buying a rep in China is like haggling over a new car price with a crazy man (woman) .. if they suspect you have cash, they start somewhere nuts like $1000 and you have to almost beat them down to $200 over time .. walk away .. come back .. etc .. and it's hard to get a merchant to show you the GOOD stuff if they don't know you. You could be trouble. They don't know. Most people just buy directly from trusted merchants here via the post office. comes right to your door enjoy your new hobby. your doctor friend will shiat his pants when you show him an Aquanaut 99% as good as his for $200 ;p
  15. DSSD parts are strictly controlled by Rolex. You can't just buy one. If you want a brighter bracelet on your watch, I suggest cleaning it properly. This will really make it shine .. it is dirtier than you think. Really.
  16. The internet has way too many forums full of tin pot God mods. It's always been this way, back to the days of Fidonet. I appreciate most sincerely mods with a sense of humor, and discretion. They make or break a forum. Quite literally.
  17. If you look at the Forum main menu, you'll see a huge section for our trusted merchants. Most have some sort of web store, and a few are buy-by-email only .. no web page. You're going to find this out on your own, anyway, but if you're looking for a Submariner rep, you have two good choices. 1> a Noobfactory sub rep, which are inexpensive and good 2> a WM9 factory sub rep which is near perfect and expensive
  18. I wish the Trusted merchants here would be kind enough to announce plainly and clearly when there are Chinese Holidays! People would not freak out as much if they knew why there were no replies for a week. I know KB announces holidays but the Watch merchants never seem to do so. Regarding EMS being down, they went back to work yesterday. (Monday the 5th) ... I have a package with them in China now, so I know, since I got my tracking number yesterday and it's working.
  19. There are 2 kind of high quality DSSD rep right now. One kind comes from a factory we name NoobFactory. This watch is sold by Cartel dealers and forum member BKLM1234. He is a modder in the USA. It used to be called Ultimate v3 by dealers. The other watch has no factory name, so we call it the 2010 V5. Trevor sells this watch. Confusion comes because Cartel dealers decided to call their watch Ultimate v5 ... oh no! Two watches named v5 now BKLM1234 mods his NoobFactory watch to make it better, also personally checks for troubles. The Trevor 2010 v5 watch has ETA Clone and also real ETA Swiss. You have to ask Trevor for this upgrade.
  20. It depends on the movement. Some hack, some don't .. some don't disengage the winding mechanism while you secure the crown and some do. I know my Asian movement Ulysse Nardin doesn't hack or disengage the winding mech.
  21. Older Noobfactory DSSD (Josh/Cartel) have a missing piece in the diver's clasp. Is that what she noticed? Not every DSSD rep has this flaw.
  22. Altho I don't have personal experience with this rep, a chinese watch doesnt have to be expensive to be decent. The Noobmariner with asian 21j is less than $50, for example.
  23. Its also important to remember that 99% of new rep buyers freak out about their first few purchases and go crazy, blaming sellers etc etc. Just relax and it'll be OK. Stop emailing them pete: the noobfactory dssd has fat dial hour markers and the v5 2010 dssd has an insert which is 1mm too thick and an unfinished pearl.
  24. There are watch strap makers here in their own section of the Forums. Replica straps are always a little cheesey. As for servicing: Wear it a month or two and if you then decide it's Love, have it serviced. No point in servicing a winder queen you'll sell down the road in 4 months.
  25. If we're just spitballing then I'll take an Aston Martin V12 Vanquish please. If we're talking for-reals, I'll have a nice Audi S8 w/Lamborghini V10 powah please.
