Higher up in that quoted thread is the real humor .. the Rollie snobs guffawing about how Chromalite is superior, and that they "know" this through personal experience.
You dont need to match the height on the new movement if you are replacing it. Your broken movement will supply that correct height gear!! You're looking at less than $120 shipped for the ETA movement and around $80 to swap it out at a reasonably priced watchsmith.
Who knows ... a watchsmith might see the problem with your original movement and simply fix it, saving you the $120 ... !!
Im no sub expert so I cant comment on the accuracy of the watch you found, but this is a hell of a write-up! You did good work.
BTW best cheap Sub is the Noobmariner, and the best expensive Sub is the WM9/BK Sub.
You don't want that one. The Rolex 3135 clone movement has parts which come loose and churn around inside the case, breaking the watch.
Get either the ETA clone movement or the genuine ETA movement.
This DSSD is the Noobfactory model, and is sold by most dealers in a variety of movements.
yes the Asia 2813 movement is a LOW beat A21j .. which is why you think it's "jumpy" .. it's not a high beat movement. Also I believe that the 4813 and the 2813 are not direct-drive thus inferring some stutter to the seconds hand.
Those 4 people all sell the same exact DSSD rep. The Noobfactory DSSD. Of course BK is a modder and provides extra services on his pieces, so he provides a superior product.
You will know immediately when you use the crown. Asia 21j (4813) feels like wind-up tin robot toy .. rough and loose. Swiss 2836 feels like silk .. and tight .. like precision machinery.
4813
it's simple .. and I meant clear nail varnish, not colored
Simply place a small amount on the end of a small brush and transfer 1 small drop of the nail varnish to the unfinished (flat) bezel insert pearl. When this little drop settles out, you should have a nice clear dome to finish your pearl. let it harden well.
You saved yourself more than that, boy-o .. the DSSD is almost 9 grand, and I'm 95% certain that the guy's photo slideshow is of a genuine Rollie DeepSea for the reasons I stated. Also .. look at the perfect serifs on the dial. No rep dial I have seen has these.
this watch looks gen to me. I have not seen a rep DSSD with the correct 2 step date window. This watch appears to have a sandwich construction date window bevel in 2 steps. that makes it genuine, as far as I am aware.
Notice the bezel insert has platinum colored numerals, NOT white like the reps ... this is correct. Also the bezel insert triangle is a very subtle curve at the top. the noobfactory triangle is way too curved and the trevortime 2010 v5 has no curve at all. the subtle curve is correct for the gen.
You could replicate that yourself ... it's just a colored Explorer. Have a trusted modder here PVD an Explorer which you have purchased, and then re-lume the dial in the color of your choice. easy as pie.
