  1. The problem with the A8 in the USA is that it's completely under the radar. Only 2000 a year are sold in all of North America. The body, interior, and engine are absolutely bullet proof. The transmission is a problem, but there's a handy fellow in Chicago who came up from the Audi online community (think BK, I suppose) and has a nice little transmission shop which specializes in rebuilds on the A8. Excellent prices for members of the community. About 1/6th what Audi charges. Expect trans issues between 100k miles and 200k miles, requiring a rebuild. I got mine after it's 3yr corporate lease expired from some fat cat CEO in NJ via an Audi specialist broker .. paid 27k. I suppose for that price I could have had a brand new Saturn sedan .. or a world class flagship saloon ... no contest, really.
  2. Yes they can be expensive but they are very owner-wrenchable if you join the Audi internet community. It's strong and helpful, like this forum.
  3. HOLY COW, Donerix ... my first car was a white '70 deville convertible with a navy leather interior. It looked exactly like your car. As for inexpensive world class vehicles, my vote is for a D2 version (1998-2003) of the Audi A8 or S8 .. I will posit that it's interior is head and shoulders above any other in it's price range, including the Jags. $80k new, and around 9k nowadays. All aluminum chassis and body, 5th generation Quattro AWD, and 360 horses ... yummy.
  4. Every major character was sporting an IWC .. Portu, Big Pilot, Top Gun .. no Slevin that I noticed, not even on Bruce Willis
  5. Josh and BK (and most other dealers) source their watches from the same pool of factories. Josh is a store owner. BK is a watchsmith/modder. Josh sells a factory-issued watch. BK sells a watch which has been inspected and modified for accuracy and/or durability. Think of it like this .. Josh might sell you a Mercedes, but BK sells you an AMG Mercedes. It's modded.
  6. trevor sells the 2010v5 dssd i told you about. it's about 100 less than the cartel dssd.
  7. There's a link and a huge picture in this thread ... like 4 posts up.
  8. There's a problem with that. The WM9 factory has gone silent, and it's not obvious whether it's coming back. Time will tell. I assume that bklm123 will continue to sell modded NoobFactory pieces in the meantime
  9. BK is a full-blown watch modder, and is capable of lots of things .. email him and ask him your questions, if you've narrowed it down to one of his products.
  10. Asian 3135 look-alike has troublesome extra parts which come loose and jam the movement. Go Swiss ETA or Asian clone ETA.
  11. Hi. Welcome to the Forum .. I typed this in August for another new member: In addition, the Noobmariner submariner replica is the best inexpensive model, and the BK Submariner is the best expensive model. There are 2 major DSSD models. The 2010 v5 and the Cartel (Josh/Andrew) Noobfactory DSSD ... both have only minor issues and either is a fine choice.
  12. 5 working days to the east coast of the US ... if Bergie ships on Monday, I have it on Saturday.
  13. I think he meant that he wants to see a link to your list of available items, and photos .. not a link to your supplier.
  14. looks like Quasimodo dropped his watch.
  15. My avatar acknowledges the sometimes frantic nature of internet message boards, and communities.
  16. Remember that small bubble streams are to be expected from nooks in the watch, even for watches which pass the test. It's simply trapped air in the crevices expanding. You are looking for a nasty torrent of bubbles. At the 8ATM you were testing, the air trapped in the watch will expand to 8 times it's size as you release the pressure.

  18. The problem with reverse osmosis is that the system wastes 5 gallons of water for every 1 gallon processed. Thats how it flushes the membrane clean. It's a great system but soo wasteful.
  19. How much did you want to spend? Member concepta makes IWC watches using genuine parts, including movements if you want to. If you're not satisfied with a normal rep, this is the way to go.
  20. So about the same amount of medication as is found in homeopathic "cures", then. At least there's no one ringing a "magic bell" over at the water purification plant.
  21. I just use a cool colored fluorescent bulb. they have ample UV output. I read that higher UV levels can shorten the life of lume.
  22. Many people and businesses accidentally let their domains expire. happens all the time.
  23. EMS door to door travel time from Asia to eastern USA is 5 working days. Airmail is 2 weeks.
  24. no clue. to the guy who was getting NO result .. were you using the iphone remote mic and at least a 3gs model? those are requirements.
  25. I just bought the app and used it to time 3 of my watches. It detected the beats, accurately decided on what rate the watches were running (28800 and 21600) and confirmed my notions of how each watch runs (fast or slow and units per day) Very nice for a new app. Useful? Not hard core but yes .. useful. Im going to watch for feature additions with interest.
