  1. I know that some dealers have in the past offered to partially pay for local repairs. Some absolutely refuse to do this. It varies. Before Chris at Eurotimez went bad, he sent me a brand new ETA 2836 in the mail to replace one with a bad calendar mechanism in my v5 dssd. There is no need to try and force all dealers to have a "fair" return policy. Simply use a dealer who already HAS a generous and fair return policy, and don't use those who don't.
  2. I understand that this forum's trusted watchsmiths are very very busy people, and their wait-time can be discouraging. They are masters of their craft, tho and a session with Zig is like a session with the God of watches. If your local guy is being a jerk and charging you blood money to service common ETA movements then I can understand how annoyed you must be, in this position.
  3. Not that I have heard. I assumed it was automatic as well. How certain are you that you weren't on a copycat site or a domain sound-alike squatter? The current and correct URL for Jos' PC site is http://www.1-pc8838.com/
  4. Ultimate Planet Ocean replica version accepts genuine Omega parts, allowing you to make the watch as perfect as you want.
  5. The Planet Ocean you linked from the merchant is the best 45mm version available right now. If you buy that one you will be happy.
  6. My current must-have is the white dial Vacheron Constantin Overseas .. but the older model with the more detailed sailing ship on the case back.
  7. Hooray for josh and his factory contacts .. they sorted out this issue as quickly as they could.
  8. Hi there! You're certainly welcome here .. but I should probably explain that this Forum caters to people who collect, create, or repair watch replicas. Certainly some of us own vintage timepieces, but I wanted you to be clear on the gist of the Forums so you wouldn't misunderstand. For instance, this is my late 1960s Rolex model 1680 replica. The first Submariner model to include a date function. It is not a genuine Rolex timepiece, but the creation of a watchsmith on this Forum.
  9. I'd suggest you email your merchant and tell them you need a correct bezel and the bracelet .. they should be more than happy to sell them to you.
  10. One of the trusted merchants here is a parts/tools store. Watch Bitz gives good discounts to RWG members, and they sell a very comprehensive basic toolkit in a zipper pouch. Click this
  11. If you like Omega, a great first rep to get your feet wet is a Planet Ocean without the chrono .. simple, classic, sharp as heck. either the 42mm or the 45mm sizes are both handsome watches. There are a couple for sale right now in the Watches For Sale (preowned) section of this forum.
  12. All props go to Ubiquitous for his review click it which got me hooked on this watch 1 year ago.And frankly, since it's based on the Asian 21j family of movements (working power reserve) , it's a very inexpensive watch for how rich it looks.

    YOUR FAULT!

Brilliant! making a watch "your own" is one of the finer points of this hobby. Some may disagree on the level of distress needed for a vintage piece but that's what makes us and our watches individuals.
  14. Zig does pressure testing now? A year ago, his list of available services clearly stated NO testing. That's good news.
  15. The bezel insert is tilted (bad gluing) the clasp lock will not close flush. there's a rusty mark on the bracelet .. pearl is flat .. this is not a good example of this watch. I'm surprised someone who sends out QC pics would even accept it from his source. He just has to say "give me a different one, I have to take a pic of this thing for approval"
  16. My wife is making noises like she wants to steal this one for herself! I'm going to wear it before it vanishes
  17. The replica watch hobby doesn't have a healthy modding community for nothing! You get the best example you can find, have a talented modder change what he can, and then accept the remaining flaws. It's all part of the experience.
  18. Thanks for that link, Chief; he seems like someone who really knows how to get information across. I believe, however, that he meant to dilute blended whiskeys, not single malt.
  19. General consensus is that the best inexpensive Sub is the Noobmariner, and the best expensive Sub is the WM9/BK Sub. This is not to say that the NoobFactory always sends out a perfect watch. That is why Narikaa is such a popular option for the Noobmariner .. he goes there himself and gets a batch of good examples. There's a lot less chance to get a bad one.
  20. Are you in North America? I can recommend both Vac and TheZigmeister for lume work in that part of the World. They have their own sections on this Forum and are trusted watchsmiths here. You simply email and request a spot on their work schedule. Look at this. This is not some deceptive 15 second exposure, made to falsely exaggerate weak replica lume. Look at the seconds hand .. this is a ONE second exposure of genuine tritec superluminova on my DSSD. That's what you can expect from these two Forum watchsmiths.
  21. Classic Rolex bracelets feel cheap. That's why this replica is so good.
