  1. As stilty mentioned, the 2836-2 datewheel is stepped at the gear/teeth, whereas the 2824 and 2892 are flat. If you need a 2836 datewheel, I can check my spares for you. If I have one, of course it would be gratis to you
  2. If you're looking to fit a dial intended for the 4130 (seconds at 6:00, hours at 9:00 and minutes at 3:00), that particular dial is caliber specific; i.e. it won't fit a 4030 or El Primero 400 movement. The subdials on the 4130 are positioned in a non-traditional manner due to the configuration of the reset lever; the 9:00 and 3:00 subdials are thus positioned above axis of the 9:00 and 3:00 indicies (they sit closer to 10:00 and 2:00). To illustrate- This is a dial for the 4130 caliber (Rolex 116520) And this is a dial for the 4030 (Zenith) caliber (Rolex 16520) Hope this helps. Cheers, //ubi
  3. It was in fact a cream dial Rail, but not very well done. Very sloppy actually. I don't think you'd want it (I wish I had taken a picture of it). Rail dials were produced by Stern, and are easily identified by the alignment of the SCOC text. The text is positioned from center out (i.e. center to left, center to right).
  4. T'is a very odd and unusual watch; definitely not suited to everyone's taste, but I'm still drawn to it. I recently saw a pic of Cartier's ID One Concept; same case as the Ballon Bleu, but with a one off movement specifically highlighting the following properties: -No adjustments or regulation required -An escapement that will maintain an accuracy of 2 seconds per day for the life of the movement, without pallet jewels and with minimal trips to service/overhaul -No lubrication ID One aside, seeing the Ballon case on a kevlar strap really appeals to me as it adds a bit of a sport-watch element to this otherwise dressy watch. Someday, I may even give this one a try
  5. So why does this Ballon Bleu intrigue me so much?! I find it strange and slightly ugly, yet somehow appealing? Anyone else feel this way?
  6. Production rep- No. One off forgeries- Yes. Are the above said forgeries worth getting? No. They're not great (at least the ones I've seen weren't)... Edit: I should clarify that the fake Rail dial I've seen was not for a 1665, but rather a 16550 Explorer Rail dial...
  7. HOT! That's a sweet 088; the PVD completely changes the look altogether. Very nice!
  8. I was pretty sure DSN had the standard single sided springbars, but I didn't know he had the Pre-V style double headed springbars?
  9. Updating my registry entry: -EL V1 case -Swiss 7750 -German Day Wheel/ETA Date Wheel -IWC Genuine Parts dial -IWC Genuine Parts hand set -Chief AR
  10. Celebrities prefer to call such items 'props'
  11. Just rec'd one of these from Stilty for my Dad's franken-DJ that I built for him a few years back. When I put this watch together, these great Stilty rings weren't available; now that they are, I plan on doing this watch the right way Thanks, T!
  12. Not quite You're thinking of a different project
  13. OS says that if we can get measurements on the bar, he can have some made
  14. Perhaps one of our membrs here can get this done! I'm about to embark on discussion with him; DL, do you have any of these Pre-V bars handy?
  15. Rep crown. Things to note: 1) Overall shape of the coronet 2) Crispness of the coronet 3) Triplock dots Compare to gen:
  16. Not with: 1) The width of those subdial rings and overall size of the rings 2) Hour and Min subdials inline with 9:00 and 3:00 3) Rehaut 4) Diameter of that bezel Gen for comparison (with 116509 chrono hand swapped):
  17. Just wondering if anyone makes springbars with the double screw heads for Pre-V cases (with lugs drilled on both sides)? Seems this would be just a standard, thick springbar with both heads/tips notched to look like screw heads. Does such a thing exist? I would imagine this would be a nice solution for those with Pre-V's (either gen or rep), as it would preserve the original bars/screws, there's no lug threads to worry about damaging, and such an item has got to be much easier to work with for swapping out straps. Thoughts? Or is this crazy talk?
  18. Maybe he can just start buying his shirts from the same vendor that sold him his Daytona? Probably get a pretty good combo deal
  19. 3717 franken for today... On the other wrist is a project that I'm stress testing...
  20. Now that's gotta be way embarrassing. Published in full print, specifically in a watch publication and discussing his collection. Sad.
  21. Think I paid $800-ish for the Ebel 134/El Primero 400 in the one above; the 3019 was $1200, but that's because I had to buy a complete watch to pull the movement from. Only thing I would suggest with the 3019's is that you should absolutely factor a service cost into the price; the 3019 is the older version of the 400, so getting everything overhauled is a good idea, especially if service history is unknown...
  22. I need Zig to do this on mine! No issues with the crown/tube yet, but having the gen crown is one of the last things I need to do...
