I saw these on Honpo's site a few weeks back. They look interesting and are probably some of the better reps I've seen of the vintage SM300, but still a bit off from gen:

I would agree, though some have been able to get it right BC's silkscreened Comex dial.

I'm not entirely sure how they changed the subdial spacing on the new 7750 in the Defy; it would be interesting to see what one looked like cracked open!

Absolutely fake. Wrong font. Wrong markers. Wrong shape of COMEX logo. Wrong shape of markers/indicies. Crappy date window bevel. Wrong finish to the back of the dial. Wrong font type used for the Singer logo on the back. This looks to be a HK printed dial.

I concur with this. The Daytona case is relatively thin, all things considered. For subdial comparison- Here is a 7750 sec@9:00 Daytona rep from King's site: And here is my Zenith powered 16520, which is probably the closest model that the sec@9:00 would replicate:

jmb- I would say that most any A7750 with the seconds at 9:00 will suffer the subdial spacing flaw. I say most, as there appears to be a new 7750 sec@9:00 out there used in the Zenith Defy reps that appear to have the correct subdial spacing; I would not be surprised to see that movement incorporated into a Daytona rep at some point, but I haven't any idea if those are reliable movements or not (since the subdials have to be relocated, albeit only slightly). The Daytona rep with the modified A7750 relocating the seconds to 6:00 does have the correct subdial spacing; the major concern with these is the longvity and reliability of the movement modifications.

Seconds at 9:00 7750 is reliable as it doesn't require any tricks or modifications to shift the subdial functions around (save for the minute counter from 12:00 to 3:00). The critical running seconds subsidiary stays right where it was intended to be, so no major issues or concerns there. The spacing of the subdials is where you'll encounter the visual flaw, but if that doesn't bother you, you'll have a very solid performer.

I'm on the fence with this one... As a basis for modding, it's not a bad place to start, so long as you accept the fact that the majority of parts will be discards in lieu of better parts. The only major case issues I see are the crown height position and the low lug holes that could be problematic.

Okay, I have to confess- Weds ended up being a promiscuous day for the wrists I have the Aquatimer on the left and this one on the right: Aquatimer is completely stock so far, DL. No mods yet, though I do have a few in mind BT- I think this one will have a permanent home in the collection. It's a great fit on the wrist, and aesthetically more balanced than the GST I used to have. I love it But what's more, the meaning and thought behind it as a gift holds more value to me than anything. For that reason alone, it's a keeper

R- Based on the shadowing of the text/font/chapter on your white dial, I believe it to be a porcelain dial. If so... That's a good thing Was this the one I posted on some months back?

Gen center tube... Do you mean for one of the hands (e.g. hour/min/center seconds)?

Chocolate brown is on my list! As are a few others Kind of hard to pair the strap with the dial... I like the black, but it feels too formal for my every day kind of wear.

They're a little expensive to build, given the cost of the movement, gen dials, case sets and other misc gen parts. Figure on $4k per, or there about... Since I am able to assemble them myself, I don't have any cost in the work itself, but I do have to have them serviced by Zig ever 4 or 5 years

Thanks, Vly. I picked up a cheapie black on black strap just to get a feel for how the color would look with the watch. I'm going to be experimenting with some other colors here soon, but ultimately may end up having a custom strap made by ABP

I wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing actual replications of 157x's, 3035's and 3135's sometime down the road. They can duplicate a 7750; a relatively simple Rolex caliber shouldn't be too terribly difficult to do in comparison, methinks.

Pretty easy exchange. Start here- Dial and hands removed. Press this little spring in: Lift the datewheel off. Install is the reverse order. As an alternative, you can also take off the large keyless works cover and lift the DW that way as well. Datewheel swap on this one is very worthwhile.
